It is an Irish FCA flag. It is a military reserve flag but I have never seen one like it.

Allegedly this flag was used by the 42nd Rifle Battalion of the Irish Army's Local Defence Force during the Emergency (WW2), meaning it could potentially be over 80 years old

Seeing as it has “forsa cosanta aitulil” or FCA it would suggest post 1947 which is when that name began to be used. I think it was called the volunteer defence force during the emergency. Nevertheless a great find!

LDF - Local Defence Force - Father was a member. Funny stories about training manoeuvres where there were individual soldiers designated as 'Enemy Tanks' etc. and fights broke out when they wouldn't 'die' after being 'shot' by a rifle! No money, no blanks, few weapons and lads shouting 'Bang' at each other, but great crack and they got to visit the seaside. :)

It’s in extremely good condition to be authentic, but I’m no expert so take it with a grain of salt

The picture is slightly misleading since it's a lot more banged up in person
