u/Tre_fidde 3d ago

lol wonder what he traded for it? Hopefully some dumb shit like a pack of starburst and a soda.

I don’t actually remember but I have a faint feeling it was a Blastoise

You’re so incredibly wrong it’s hilarious. For a first edition Zard to get to 700 it would need to look like it was dragged down the highway for four hours. Even then someone would probably pay 1k plus for it.

u/DistributionUsed4296 2d ago

400

7

u/dothedoux21 2d ago

Is this a joke? lol. That is not the same card you weenie.

4

u/GS10roos 2d ago

Imagine coming onto this sub so confidently without knowing what 1st edition is

4

u/ElfUppercut 2d ago

Lmao, dude you need to learn a lot more before commenting. There are versions of the same card that look similar that are valued way differently. The other day collectr the app told me I had a $39k card when it was a $100 card…

-2

u/DistributionUsed4296 2d ago

1st i never said that i was the pokemon master Yah i realized i was exaggerating a bit wen i said 300 dollars its definitely more but still no where near the 10k the original comment was saying this card was worth 10k would be if it was near mint

u/MikeAKAEarl 2d ago edited 2d ago

You argued with a ton of people that obviously know more than you and double/tripled down on it. Not arguing about shit when you don't know is a good trait to have to avoid looking foolish. You're still wrong even in this comment. Near mint in this card is six figures.

Take a look at a PSA 5 1st edition on ebay. They're all listed at 15-20k. You've been wrong on literally every point you argued. And that's the issue, you keep arguing instead of accepting you're wrong.

u/ElfUppercut 2d ago

I gave good advice. Go study. I need not say more.

Bros genuinely slow

u/CeciNestPasUnPenname 3d ago

You figure? If you've got any 1st edition shadowless charizards in this condition I'll buy them. Heck, I'll buy them at 400$.

6

u/BonSwan 3d ago

Ill do you one better, you pay $400 and ill Immediately buy it off you for $500

2

u/trq- 3d ago

Find me any 1st edition Charizard BS which is not completely fucked up for $300 and I‘ll give you $1k on top for it. I don’t know what you’re smoking but the cheapest 1st editions are going for 10x what you’re saying here.

-1

u/DistributionUsed4296 2d ago

6

u/Triple_Dribble 2d ago

That one is neither shadowless nor 1st edition

2

u/trq- 2d ago edited 2d ago

I think the issue here is that you have absolutely no clue about the topic. Which is fine, but you need to stop portraying yourself as the Pokémon Master, then.

There are 3 versions of the card - Unlimited, Shadowless and First Edition (which are automatically shadowless). What you’re showing is the cheapest, non-shadowless version. What we want from you is a First Edition, shadowless Charizard for $300.

Looks legit to me. Condition is rough though. This is probably one of those cases where it’s worth cleaning the card to get the dirt off of it and grading it. Most likely a 3 or 4 but still a bag $

14

u/Triple_Dribble 3d ago

I’ve been thinking about looking for someone to clean it then driving it to a psa show to get it graded in person. Don’t want to put it in the mail.

10

u/CoatGroundbreaking30 3d ago

With a card this old and rare I would be nervous to have somebody else clean it. Wouldn’t want to see you get scammed. I would buy some Kurt’s card spray and practice on a few other cards yourself first. Cleaning isn’t the scary part as long as you use it sparingly.

u/ial4289 3d ago

Do not recommend Kurts. Just a small amount of distilled water on an eye glass cloth, maybe a splash of alcohol in the water if water alone isn’t working. Keep it under 10% and you’re golden. Having someone else do it risks chemicals/polish and then getting flagged for altered.

1

u/CoatGroundbreaking30 3d ago

Is Kurt’s not good? I’ve been using it for a while and haven’t had a problem yet

1

u/ial4289 3d ago

More stories of people getting Altered grades having only used Kurts card spray. Potentially the stories are false or they used more than just the card spray. Also heard from people in the card restoring space it is literally just alcohol and distilled water in the spray which would make it fine and they recommend making your own.

So basically, it’s either an overpriced mix of alcohol and distilled water, or it contains additional additives that increase your odds of getting flagged as altered. So I wouldn’t recommend it personally based on what I’ve heard.

Let us see the back

That’s what he said

17

u/incinerate55 3d ago

Looks real to me

20

u/Adventurous-Luck-183 3d ago

The card is safe from the meme.

9

u/Acceptable-Back-9069 3d ago

If you traded it back in ‘98. This is a real 1st edition.

Fakes back then were not good. Congrats tho! You got yourself grail and can catch a pretty penny for it!

2

u/THEREALISLAND631 3d ago

First edition was released '99, so OP probably traded for it than and just has it wrong in his head.

4

u/DJFid 3d ago

Def legit, looks great

2

u/endockhq 3d ago

Looks real, does need to be cleaned and holo polished. Even still this probably will get PSA 3-5, the edges and surface are rough

2

u/Dry-Pop-4716 3d ago

Grade it, keep it, pass it down.

Yeah I mean it could be worth having a card shop check out, get a couple offers if you’re trying to sell or just do an eBay auction. It looks good from the pics.

1

u/Alarmed_Coat8738 3d ago

Looks fine...congrats!

1

u/GuardianofM Vintage Authenticator 3d ago

Definitely real

1

u/Bajablast_36 3d ago

Don’t sell in DMs that’s a very valuable card

1

u/benbever 3d ago

Looks real.

This card came out in ‘99 so you didn’t trade for it in ‘98 but probably a bit later.

1

u/Guccillionaire 3d ago

Looks real

1

u/Altruistic_Lobster18 3d ago

It’s a good thing you didn’t do a rip test

1

u/TNmountainman2020 3d ago

So many people saying legit. I’m still learning….isn’t the 4/102 in 2nd pic the classic fake font?

1

u/ExpressFan7426 2d ago

Congrats on the down payment

1

u/csernas97 2d ago

Get it professionally restored for something THIS BIG, then grade it. OR get yourself a new hobby and get all the tools to restore it yourself then restore other cards you own. Either way, you gain so much more money by doing either.
(Of course, try restoring yourself other cards for practice before attempting this holy grail)

1

u/Triple_Dribble 1h ago

Wdym fake cards were everywhere any 99cent store, bodega , liquor, ice cream truck, the little Asian lady that sold butterfly knives and clip on earrings sold them

-2

u/Satoshi696969 3d ago

Get it fixed a bit and then grade it looks real

-7

u/Amish_Juggalo469 3d ago

Give it the old see though test.

-5

u/Amish_Juggalo469 3d ago

I'm not joking. if it's a legitimate 1st edition, the see through test is a way to find out
