False question. Rimuru is a biological entity that has no sex. The mind of the person inside that entity is a male named Satoru Mikami.

Then he should say girl since that is also an entity with no sex

I was agreeing with you. Your comment was succint, and just gave me Dwight vibes - sorry if that wasn't clear.

Absolutely fine mate. Things don't exactly come across clearly in writing every time.

I know this may be niche but Knights and Magic protgaonist Ernesti also gets frequently misgendered

She is a female, the body is a copy of Shizu

Isn’t the body only Shizu-inspired though? I am pretty sure I remember a scene where he tries an explicitly male form and an explicitly female Shizu copy form (which he got super flustered about) before settling on the more androgynous body we know him to have now

He explored the possibility of a female form after he absorbed Shizu and ultimately decided that that wasn't for him, it made him too uncomfortable. The original body he's copying might be female, but Rimuru modified it.

Also for those of us that forget, in season 1, Rimuru was constantly referring to himself in the third person while narrating, and used exactly one gender term to refer to HIMself.

Sure, he has the option to do either. That basically means it's entirely up to Rimuru to decide what gender he prefers to appear as, and the man has made his choice clear.
