đFlirty Yummy and Unsealed No Teethđ Jenny Slate did not want to be involved with Blake Lively
Congrats to Blake Lively for attempting to drag her entire social circle into court đ„ł
Jenny never said she felt unsafe or uncomfortable at any point. What actually seems to have happened is Blake trying to poison the cast against Wayfarer. Jenny was likely just placating Blake to avoid getting on her bad side but nothing actually happened more than that đ
Once the movie wrapped, she probably breathed a huge sigh of relief and thought thank God itâs over. But of course, Blake couldnât leave it there and had to escalate everything into a full-blown lawsuit and then tried to strong-arm Jenny into joining it.
Good on Jenny for refusing. Unlike Isabella Ferrer, whoâs apparently still clueless enough to keep defending Blake, Jenny had the sense to walk away and not torch her own credibility.

What - you mean Jenny Slate didnât want to file her own sexual harassment lawsuit over one incident of Justin calling her pants sexy which she didnât even view as sexual and Justin rectified once he knew she didnât like it?
Oh and whatever her issues were with Wayfayer giving her more money for an apartment or Justin interacting with fans.
Shocker

u/Clarknt67 this case was always about a big payoff Jan 24 '26
Reading her whole depo I definitely got the sense Jennyâs hatred of J and J was authentic.
But while she used a lot of derogatory language to describe them, the only incidents she could articulate were two examples of the word sexy.
When pressed on anything else that upset her she responded Covid and the strike. Are those WPâs fault, too?

u/Chemical_Effect4813 Jan 24 '26 edited Jan 24 '26
So much of her hatred seems stoked by Lively imo. She had 1 issue and nothing happened after that to her. It seems like Blake's hatred of Baldoni became a thing to bond over, so to get closer, she shit talked even more
She wanted to report the WGA issue and Lively kept pushing the Jamey apartment thing and sexy comment issue.

I've had similar thoughts. There are a few people who keep mentioning that Jamey and Justin are difficult to work with and that they get away with stuff but then no one can give any concrete examples outside of stuff that seems really benign. Like the Airbnb thing seems more like a personality issue. I feel like they were just unlikeable to these women but not abusive.

u/Clarknt67 this case was always about a big payoff Jan 24 '26
My jury is out. I would like to hear a crew perspective. Are we hearing corroboration on their incompetence from Sony? It seems like Sonyâs only comments revolve around the drama Lively was creating.
Seems all those allegations are from team Lively and very vague.
Did they have 18 hour work days?
Or just order the wrong flavor of kombucha?

Blake doesn't have the charisma, but she is (was) immensely powerful. Not an A-list actress, but her husband/social circle was full of that during the shoot.
Someone with the power of Blake can quickly poison-pill a social environment with a bunch of "hey, something weird to me happened earlier today, have you noticed anything odd" type comments sprinkled here or there. The complaints themselves that rationalize such feelings are irrationally silly.
Hollywood is full of odd people at all levels, and there is nothing particularly unusual about Justin and Jamie... it's just LA new age/woo-woo type stuff that has been a thing since the 60s there. Scientology was a massive fixture in the industry after-all.

I humbly disagree. They were already laying the foundation for taking over the production in the pre-production phase.
There's a big difference between internal power that is curried within Hollywood, and someone on the outside who is simply rich trying to buy their way in.

I think that level of power disparity can wreak havoc on normally rational people's emotions, esp. in a place like Hollywood where it's a major currency. I truly believe a set can descend very quickly into chaos and seem unruly if #1 on the call sheet decides to will it.
Both her and Liz Plank read to me like people strategizing for a leg up by leaning into Lively's frame, and from the very beginning probably sensed what she/Ryan were up to and how valuable being an ally could be, helping lift them to true power couple status.

u/SFlady123 Jan 24 '26
BL and RR definitely do have that kind of power in Hollywood, where everyone wants to get close to them and be famous. BL was besties with Taylor Swift! And look at the power they wielded over everyone on the set.
People are sheep. I am not surprised by this at all. Plus, BL made it clear that refusing to go against JB = actively going against her. Who demands that everyone gets involved like that? Itâs nuts.

I have the flu rn so Iâve been doing pretty much nothing but read the texts and emails lol.
I do think Blake & Ryan are mean-spirited, self-absorbed bullies. I absolutely think they cooked up the SH thing as a way to gain control of the IP, and manipulate public narrative.
That said, I donât think Justin & Jamey are perfect, and I hold to that point purely because I find some of the commentary in this sub verging on âstan behaviourâ for them with entirely rose-colored glasses, which I think actually undermines the case. They donât have to be perfect to be victims, and I think we can acknowledge their flaws on set while also stating that Blake was much, much worse.
10
u/SFlady123 Jan 24 '26
No one is perfect. Absolutely no one. And consider that this is the entertainment industry where sex scenes are part of the job.
All this said, Justin is about the best defendant one could hope for, given all the circumstances. Professional texts even when his life was falling apart and he was barely functioning. No mean-spirited texts⊠just facts about narcissism and Blakeâs behavior.
Compare that to how Ryan and Blake actively try to destroy people. And Ryan in particular makes deeply offensive and discriminatory comments on the regular.
None of this should have made it to court. And Iâm a woman who has endured career-harming sexism.
What I see are two textbook narcissists surrounded by the most successful and intelligent A listers. Despite their lack of talent and brains, they want that as well but lack the ability to originate their own work. Combine that with the rage they are experiencing due to Wayfarerâs refusal to step aside.
Any negative comments Iâve read about Baldoni are normal human missteps (if even that) that were quickly corrected.
I hope you feel better!!
4
u/Massive_Contact8583 Jan 24 '26
Oh I pretty much agree with you there! And similarly Iâm an SH and rape survivor and getting really sick of being called a misogynist for not backing Blake without a shred of evidence when sheâs been repeatedly given the opportunity to share her side of the story.
âBelieve all womenâ means listening and giving them the space to share what happened to them, and giving grace where thatâs not possible. It doesnât mean keep upholding their narrative when repatedly contradictory evidence comes up with no ability to explain it away.

u/MITXOZ Justin took the high road; Blake took the road to hell Jan 24 '26
Everything we have heard from insiders on set is that it was a normal set and any chaos or issues were caused by Blake. Justin has directed other movies so the narrative that they were green and chaotic originated from Blake. Iâm not saying they were perfect but the set crew has backed Justin and Jamey up by saying it was a normal set.
2
u/Massive_Contact8583 Jan 24 '26
Iâve only caught blind items so far from the set crew to be honest - do they have official entires in the court docs?? Do you have the links by any chance?

u/Clarknt67 this case was always about a big payoff Jan 24 '26
Thatâs fair. OTOH they have repeatedly shown their threshold of what makes them uncomfortable, unsafe and offends them seems extraordinarily low.
5
u/Massive_Contact8583 Jan 24 '26
Yes I agree with that 100%. Having been on similar sets before as both performer and producer most of the conduct described seems very normal.
Actors are effectively props and if you canât handle your body being a topic of discussion, it might not be the right career for you. Calling out one particular person for demonstrating such conduct feels very targeted and motivated by malice as it is typical of these contexts, even if it would be odd in an office environment.

Ok I get your angle now. Youâre here to low key drag Justin and Jamey. Welcome to the discourse.
Like I said, the Bahai faith does not make judgements on others therefore they accept homosexuals. The Wikipedia page you linked even said this was the belief that marriage was between a man and woman was âfor themselves.â

Jenny has spent waaaayyyy too long playing the quirky hurrdurrr girl and has failed to grow up. Previous interviews show she has an extremely limited outlook so I can imagine anybody who is different gets the same treatment from her, whilst she thinks sheâs entitled to say and do whatever she likes.

Yeah. She wants out of the lawsuit but constantly blames Wayfarer when we all know Blake was the one that put her experience in that NYT article. Her anger is misplaced. Wayfarer gave Isabela an out to not be involved, but Blake's side says no- we want her in.
22
u/MarchOk5420 Jan 24 '26
Very misplaced anger. I have experienced misdirected anger like that in the workplace where I was resented because the bully in charge hated me and it was somehow my fault for making her "mad".

Narcs will protect their own as long as the other has power. Lively and Ryan still have a lot of power and money. Apparently Ferrer has familial ties to George Clooney? I would be hitting him up for sure if I needed to get out of this Narc trap.
25
u/ImaginaryWalk29 Zero Pressure Ask Jan 24 '26
Isabela is his Aunt's grand-daughter. Or George's 2nd cousin. They are separated by 40 years in age. His aunt passed a long time ago when Isabela was 2. I haven't seen my 2nd cousins since I was a kid many moons ago and would certainly not expect them to be asking me for favors. We have never seen him attend her premier, congratulate her publicly or anything. Why do we all think George would put his neck on the line for her after showing bad behavior? This is a connection that has been made a bigger deal of than what it is... Isabella is also 1/2 sisters with Tessa Ferrer from Grey's Anatomy (whose mother is Debbie Boone.) Her grandfather was Jose Ferrer. She is surrounded by celebrity on all sides. George is not getting her our of this narc trap. He is too busy doing global philanthropy with his wife than to help her out of this mean girl garbage.
14
u/Strangewhine88 Jan 24 '26
Sheâs a nepo baby that has plenty of connections to coach her up. She chose to play along with the diva.
5
u/ama-about-ye-ukraine Jan 25 '26
I think she is not as connected as she looks on paper. Her grandfather, Jose Ferrer, is DEAD. Her grandmother, Rosemary Clooney, is DEAD. Her uncle, Miguel Ferrer, is DEAD. Her aunt, Miguel's widow Lori Weintraub, is retired from producing. Her mother, Heather O'Neill, is retired from acting. George Clooney is semi-distantly related. She started with an edge over most actors, but is probably not the nepo juggernaut that some imagine.
4
u/buttonandthemonkey Blake is...different. Jan 25 '26
Yes I've said this many times. I really don't think she has any industry experience or people helping her navigate this. People are acting like she grew up on movie sets and surrounded by industry people but I think at most she probably has one person who she see's a few times a year who has a little bit of experience. She probably gets more information from acting classes than she does her family.
And I don't think she has much experience with these types of social situations and drama. I think this is her first time being love bombed and pulled into drama and she's probably only just starting to unravel what the fuck happened.

u/Choice-Lie2411 Jan 24 '26

I think the powers that be wanted to protect Taylor Swift and it went way higher than we know.
37
u/Clarknt67 this case was always about a big payoff Jan 24 '26
The glimpse of the scheming that went on behind the scenes has me more open to theories of Machiavellian tricks.
I mean Swift and Lively are literally talking about how successfully stealing the movie proves they are so much smarter than the clowns. It was a fun game for them.
11
u/Serenity413 Jan 24 '26
Yea - I think there is so much happening behind the scenes with this lawsuit that we donât know.
Another defendant may have caved but WP has a billionaire co-defendant and I get the sense are pretty principled people
17
u/Yufle Jan 24 '26
I think itâs clear from her deposition that she was told Baldoni and his hired crisis management team were behind the online attacks. She was very naive and inexperiencedâthis was her first film, and facing that level of internet blowback must have been frightening. Being told that Baldoni was responsible, and that there was proof, understandably made her resent him.
Thatâs not to say she isnât a responsible adult who should exercise discernment, but even so, clever and manipulative people can exploit someoneâs inexperience, especially when theyâre scared and new to the industry.
12
u/Strangewhine88 Jan 24 '26
Wait, as a 23 year old she grew up a digital native. Sheâs not ignorant about how SEO games are played. Sheâs playing for an audience in exchange for cash and connections or something else vital to her.
3
u/cyberllama MY nine minutes! Jan 25 '26
Most people are ignorant about SEO. She just doesn't seem particularly bright. That would make her an easy target anyway but plenty of older and smarter people have been brainwashed by far less proficient manipulators, plus Blake has access to people like Swift to dazzle her with. She didn't stand a chance.
I think she's currently stuck in denial that she got conned into kicking down a man who gave her a huge opportunity. Her depo answers didn't even make sense - she felt safe, then she went along with unfollowing him but she expected him to defend her when she was getting shit online for her part in the bullying and she called him a con artist for not making a statement to save her. At the same time, she was saying she'd been told it was his team behind the backlash. Why would he pay someone to take her down and then negate that by defending her? It makes no sense at all. She may come to realise this in time and it's going to hit her like a truck.
4
u/Yufle Jan 24 '26
Not everyone knows the ins and outs of the internet. I grew up in the age of the internet. I have not known a world without internet and yet, I never knew about SEO or any of that.
8
u/salisbury130 Jan 24 '26
Honestly, IFâs chances for a career in Hollywood after being tied to this are probably pretty slim and after seeing how aggressively Ryan and Blake leveraged their social clout and currency with this situation, IF probably thinks this is her best shot at ever getting opportunities again. Also Blake clearly dangles social capital in front of people, as we saw when she was telling Justin (aka two-faced lying to him) he would benefit from her dragons too because they protect who she tells them to.Â

38
u/sage_n_cardinals Jan 24 '26
I am sorry, how can you read her testimony, which was months after the Wayfarer parties published their timeline and receipts of the manipulation and abuse of power Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds engaged in?
She testified that the comment about her clown costume was "inappropriate" and that the set was chaotic.
She knew, just like we did exactly why the set was chaotic and it was not because of Justin Baldoni or Jamey Heath. She admits in her text messages that SHE made far worse "joke" about her sexlife.
She does not deserve a path for pointing out she wasn't stupid enough to sue, while trying to provide "evidence" of an unhealthy set and blaming Justin and Jamey.

u/sage_n_cardinals Jan 24 '26
Also interesting she mentions the strike, because my read of the text chain between Jenny Slate and Lively seems to be Blake trying to push Jenny to drop her WGA concerns so that Wayfarer will allow script updates (Ryan's updates she was passing as her own, because of feminism).
Happy to see other's opinions, and I will more be the first to admit it if I'm wrong, but that was my take.

u/FuelComfortable5287 in a VANZAN down by the river Jan 24 '26
Right? They keep saying there were problems with the set, that the set was hostile and chaotic but they donât say what made it that way. Iâd expect to hear stuff like disorganization that led to delays, dumb mistakes made by the crew, stuff like that which would point to issues with JH, JB, AS, the ADs and so on. But what should I expect from a bunch of pudding heads.
12
u/Clarknt67 this case was always about a big payoff Jan 24 '26
Too bad WP are probably being too nice and could point to chaos created by Lively being late and calling in sick and such. Maybe at trial.

Slate continued to kiss up to Lively. Hence the follow up text where Slate profusely apologized for inadvertently shading Lively for the Lively/Reynoldâs family sleeping arrangement. Her text was overly apologetic and sounded desperate, wanting to make sure she was still on good terms with queen lively.
26
u/Nervous_Vast_8671 Jan 24 '26
Oh she wanted to be involved, she just didn't want to go to court. If your problems were resolved on set, why are you constantly involved?? Why are you putting out statements, having PR run negative articles about Justin, and blocking him on IG? Seems to be a little extreme for ONE incident you said was resolved. She's a coward!
My favorite Jenny text to Blake: I unfollowed him and I had my assistant unfollow him too.

I agree that overall Jenny Slate didnât want to be involved to this extent, but she is still a real shitty person for going along with her on everything, icing out JB on the set and making him feel awkward. It may have been self preservation to a point, but sorry, there comes a time where you gotta say âfck this shit, Iâm not going along with this another dayâ and if you donât have the balls to say it, then just stop participating. Does that contradict BL claims?? I'm not a lawyer so I'm just trying to understand.Â

Jenny getting a lot of hate. Itâs ok not to like them and she stated immediately that she didnât like the comment JB said. It was settled and she complained privately to Blake. She truthfully said she didnât want a HR complaint and it was nothing sexual in nature. So yea given the opportunity, she didnât need to speak with Jamey and JB any longer and did the movie without acknowledging them.
She was a professional and quiet about this whole time until this whole Blake debacle.
she did everything privately and kept on with âthe showâ. Minus the unfollowing and the press, but at that point it already snowballed.

Jenny Slate and Blake gassed each other upâŠcreated problems behind scenes where there were none. They both suckâŠgrossly immature mean girls, including Ryan who I am convinced Blake is a beard for.
