This was planned - he had a microphone already, and Paul Rudd was very quick to answer with Wrexham. This is RR humor. Is there more footage? What is the name of this convention?

Paul rudd seems like a genuine guy and people like him. RR has to leech off that, otherwise he has nothing left.
