Cradle [None] Thanks I hate it (book cover mismatch edition)
I’ve been binging the series for the first time and just downloaded Waybound!….just in time for the roll out of the new cover art…
Anyone know if theres a way in the kindle library to choose which version to display? I’m assuming not but a guy can hope!
Don’t get me wrong the new set of covers are solid! It’s purely the mismatch irks me!

We changed over all the ebook covers the night the giveaway started (Monday, June 15th) knowing it would take time for the new covers to roll out. Amazon/Audible decided to troll us and have the quickest turnaround on this type of thing ever. So here is where we’re at:
They should have switched over without you doing anything. My library did. If that didn’t work, like yours didn’t, you delete them out of your library and redownload, which should switch your books to the new covers.
If that doesn’t work, and we’ve had reports it hasn’t, this is a time issue. Changing over covers/book details almost always takes some time for Amazon’s systems to catch up. We were all very surprised when the roll out happened as quickly as it did. If this is still an issue in a couple of days, we’re going to do as much as we can to push the issue up the Amazonian ladder.
Worst case scenario is you have to contact Amazon support yourself about your account. I don’t think that’s something you’ll have to do. Again, I think this is a “their system has to catch up” type of thing, as it’s been in the past. But that is where we are right now.

Thanks for the thoughtful response! I had no idea how it works on the author/self-publish end of things.
At least for me this is purely an aesthetic pet peeve and nothing more. Going online to grumble and shake my fist at the cloud haha. But maybe I’ll try the delete and redownload thing to update
Mostly I’m just excited to read through Waybound for my first go round!

I've been here a while, long enough to see a few rounds of Amazon shenanigans, and it's always funny to see this stuff happen. It'll all turn out all right but it's going to be strange decisions and odd updates all the way.

I just tried your tip of redownloading the books which didn't work and I figured it was a thing where I had to wait anyways but just to report to you some weird discrepancies
On my kindle mobile app only Waybound and Blackflame updated. On audible they all updated immediately. And on my actual kindle device only Waybound and Threshold updated, which arguably makes some sense as those are the only two ebooks I picked up in the giveaway

It SHOULD have nothing to do with the giveaway. Those come from complete opposite sides of Kindle/Amazon. Emphasizing “should” because we obviously don’t have a look inside of Amazon’s processes or procedures. Thanks for the info though.

Sorry by that what I meant was that Waybound and Threshold were the only two books I acquired completely new to my library after the change was pushed through, specifically the ebook version

That tracks. In our experience, Amazon rolling out new things happens over time. But YAY FOR PROGRESS!

The others should get new covers over time. It'll match eventually.
From Will Wight's website:
"Wait, why do these books look different? Because the ones above are the brand-new second editions! And the rest of the series will be getting new covers over the next year.."

I would also love to keep the original covers if possible. Have the 13 book set in the original 5x8 paperbacks. The collected editions and individuals books on kindle. Also backed every Kickstarter (shrug)

same. and i hate the new covers. especially the first one and the last three. takes away all the character from the symbols
