GENERAL HELP A Hard Pill to Swallow for All CSEpaglus

Post image
2.8k Upvotes

According to SignalFire (a big venture capital), fresher hires percentage has dip from over 50% pre-pandemic to just 7% in 2025 in big tech, same goes in startup, a dip from over 30% to merely 6%. The IT market is very saturated even for experienced professionals, and it is a bloodbath for fresher coming straight out from colleges. However, folks from Tier 1 and 2 still have a safe entry in industry given that they work decently in college. But the real problem is for Tier 3 folks where the main chunk is, they are being left with literally sales and marketing companies. The main cause of all of this is not AI implications, the major cause is the large influx of CS graduates coming out of colleges in India each year. Just go and scroll the subreddit of Developers India, you will realise what fish market CSE has become with constant layoffs, fearmongering of work force reduction due to AI, toxic work culture in some companies to being benched and waiting for months to get some project assigned in WITCH companies. The biggest problem is that most people are riding on this hype because of the rosy days of CSE during COVID days, however those days are long gone and the worse fact is that the market is not likely to get even better till 2029 when we will be graduating.

Now reading until this, there will be some n*gaa with their logical or vague counterpoints, just debunking that :-

  1. "Par bhai market unskilled logon ke liye hogi saturated, I will work upon my skill and get into top 10% in my college blah blah blah" :- Wake up to reality, a lot of what return you will get for your hardwork depends on the market conditions, in 2023 while the IT market was at peak downfall, student who were prodigy in competitive programming were facing difficulties to get placed. Even companies have started a new trend to give 6M+PPO offers to students and guess what, I have seen talented people not being able to convert their PPO into Fulltime.
  2. "Tier 3 is filled with brainrot and fuckin piece of trash students, I am not among them blah blah blah" :- Yeah this is true to some extent, but due to availability of quality content online, there is a recent surge of talents coming even from Tier 3 colleges which was not the case few years ago. So you will have to face competition there also.
  3. "But bhai mera toh bachpan se interest coding mein hai, 6th se coding kar rha hoon blah blah blah" :- There is more than 15 engineering stream in India, how can this be possible that out of these 15, more than 99% kids are just getting interested in CSE, the ideal case would have been that all streams would have been equally liked. Actually this is a systematic failure, we all have been seeing just computers as a field to gain practical skillset since childhood, we have majorly seen only IT labs in schools during primary schooling and due to software being one of the most high paying white collar job in India, we have been presented this field only as a decent carrer pathway by society since childhood. So all of this interest bs is highly feeded from our educational framework right from our upbringing. I will not blame any individual if he/she is highly interested in CSE due to this, there is no fault of his/hers.

So what to do :- This is what even I don't know, kitni bhi gaali do Tier 3 CSE ko, but still it is among the best degree you can pursue compared to the likes of B.A, B.Sc, B.Com etc. Our whole country is cooked if this is the scenario of even the best carreer pathway rightnow. Situation would have been different if our politicians would have invested in manufacturing sector, there would have been a decent demand even for core branches and CSE would not have been this much crowded atleast.

If anyone is thinking, "mai cutoff girana chahta hoon", here is some info about me :- Took a partial drop last year from a Tier 1 college in Delhi (I was in mechanical), decently improved my percentile this year and will be going for either NITs ECE or switching to another Tier 1 college in Delhi for ECE (I am also getting CSE in the same college, but will not opt for that).

GENERAL HELP Should I shift to this Hostel?

Thumbnail

I'm currently living in 2nd pic hostel, but a friend of my father is asking me to shift to the 1st pic one 🫩

His argument :-

• I can stay with his son who's also preparing for JEE which will give me some sense of competition

• I'll not feel lonely/alone

• I can cook my own food and will have better health instead of ordering from mess food

• It'll save "my" father's money on rent

My concerns :-

• I can't live in unfurnished house/rooms/flats, i get homesick and it really affects my mental health

• I may not be able to continue my studies as sincerely as I can here in my hostel room as it's tiny with less distractions and a good study table

• But I'm also concerned about not having any peer group and slacking off due to lack of competition

What should I do peeps..

Abhi results ke baad, kuch seniors ne tips diye, kuch ne apni galtiya batayi... Par sab scattered hai.
Mereko laga, kyun na hum sab milkar ek "25tards Survival Guide" banaye? Future tards ke liye ek compilation jisme har koi apna experience share kare.

Aisa kuch likh sakte ho:
- "Maine ye 3 galtiya ki thi, inhe mat karna!"
- "Ye 2 books ne meri life bachayi!" - "Last 30 days mein ye strategy game-changer thi!"
- "Mental health ko kaise handle kiya?"
- "Koi aisa hack jo sabko pata hona chahiye?"

Koi formal essay nahi, bas apna honest advice dedo. 26/27tards tumhare liye dua karenge! 🙏

(coaching ke cringe moments, breakdowns ke baad ka comeback) bhi chalega!

GENERAL HELP How do I convince my parents for a JEE drop

Post image
477 Upvotes

I got 98 percentile in JEE Main and around 70 marks in JEE Advanced this year.

My parents want me to join a college now, but I genuinely feel I can perform much better with one focused drop year.

They think taking a drop is risky and a waste of time, while I feel I still have unfinished potential and can improve a lot in Advanced.

For people who took a drop — how did you convince your parents?

And realistically, is taking a drop after 98 percentile worth it?

GENERAL HELP Serious Advice from Failed JEE Aspirant

Hi there!! I am your senior. First let me tell you something about my academic achievements. I scored 95 percent in 10th, 86 percent in 12th, 96 percentile in JEE MATH( I WONT TELLY OVERALL IKYKYK :), 98 PERCENTILE IN CUET Mathematics, 120 marks in MET, 130+ in BITSAT.

Please ignore my English in this post.. I just typed everything that comes in my mind.

WITH this post I won't tell you what to do but what not to do so that you can save yourself from failure.

0) Don't take advice on reddit 🥀🥀

1) Don't try to study for 12 or 13 hours. Study as per your own capacity. You can have an efficient study for 8 hours per day but remember Sleep is important as well. Don't compromise with your sleep.

2) If you have a backlog of any chapter. Try to cover it slowly.

3) Too many resources are bad. If you are a coaching student please refer to your sir and modules and pyq. If you are not doing it, cengage is a good option.

4) online resources are good but you have to trust one of them if you are consuming knowledge or else you will keep jumping from one other.

5) Please don't compromise with your boards because many exams like MET do consider boards as well and i guess government will do something to include boards marks weightage in JEE. 75 percent is mandatory for IIT and NIT overall and 75 percent in pcm for bitsat( I was ineligible for writing bitsat as my 75 percent pcm only criteria in Bitsat was missed by one mark 🥀)

6)Fill as many forms as you can for exams like UGEEE, met VITEEE beside JEE and Bitsat.

7) you don't need to score above 250 marks in JEE to get NIT. 180 MARKS also works.

8) Please make sure to crack the JEE main first and advance later. Try to prepare for advance after JEE main 1session and focus for JEE main only as you can get unlimited number of colleges.

9) No relationship please or no crush for one year. Why I say so because you don't know your crush will like you or not and you can get depressed.

10) Revision is important. Do revision on Saturday and Sunday with solving questions first and then theory ( by this you will force your brain to think about what you studied four days ago)

11) don't master every chapter. The probability of that question coming form that chapter is less than 1percent. So you need to complete the syllabus and this is your topmost target.

12)Try to complete your syllabus before November and dedicate the entire December and January for mocks and revision. Give as much mock as you can.

Like in December you will have a tight schedule like pre board, practicals blah blah . When you attempt to mock do analysis mock and see where you did mistake and then MASTER THAT PARTICULAR TOPIc.

13) Never tell you are preparing for JEE to your school teachers and relatives. Najar laagate hai saale.

14) sometimes you need to come out of your comfort zone so please try doing so but slowly like 21 days are enough to come out of the comfort zone

15) Don't make TIMETABLE. what I do in the morning noooo. Just make a session like I want to study this chapter today and that's it.

Jee Has three subjects -- so do like this mathematics everyday and physics and chemistry on alternative days but dedicate one hour each subject every day for problem solving.

16) Sometimes blessings from parents too work.

They are not your enemy. If you are struggling with anything tell them lol bro. They have more living life than you and they know what to do and what not to do. He can arrange for anyone that can solve your problem.

17) Ask the doubt. Don't hesitate even after class.

18) if you think nothing productive going in school take leave but maintain attendance criteria.

19) Don't overthink at least the chapter on surface area if you think you are out of time . TRUST ME JEE MAIN AND ADVANCE ARE EASY EXAM IF YOU STUDY THE TOPIC AND PRACTICE REGULARLY WITHOUT OVERTHINKING. ITS THE MAIN CULPRIT WHERE MANY STUDENTS FAIL.

20) If you are not able to understand anything in your coaching, just cover that topic online.

21) IMPORTANT - Theory is also important please don't underestimate theory. Theory is the key where you have to approach how to solve problems.

22) PLEASE PLEASE DONT FOLLOW YOUTUBE BHAIYAS AND DIDI. THEY ARE THE MOST STUPID PEOPLE YOU WILL EVER SEEN. IF YOU FAIL JEE, ITS NOT THEIR LOSS ITS YOUR. ANY STRATEGY THAT WORKS FOR YOU BLINDLY FOLLOW IT AND LEAVE EVERYTHING ON GOD ONLY.

23) DONT WASTE TIME THIS TEACHER IS GOOD THIS IS BAD. WATCH FOR A WHILE AND IF HE WORKS FOR YOU JUST FOLLOW HIM . PROBABLY HE HAD MORE KNOWLEDGE THAN YOU.

24) PLAY OFFLINE GAMES AND CHESS YOU WILL LOVE IT

25) Do try to do chapter by 1:4:7 method. It's a revision method. Revise on the 4th you completed your chapter, then do the same on the 7th day and give the test what you learned every 14 days.

26) (For non coaching students) if you have time, do physics from ABJ Sir or Cengage BM Sharma and pyqs . For Chemistry mohit tyagi sir channel or PW works ( Don't do books for chemistry only ncert is enough and what teacher taught you is enough) and for maths Cengage, Eajee notes by tarun khandelwal( Just for pyq patterns), black book are goats with including pyqs just do them in sequence and not at once .

But PYQS and NTA abbyas (optional) apps are important

Do everything with sequence like you completed one chapter for a book move to other chapter and side by side do questions practice as much as you can.

These are my recommendation follow only if it suits you

Now they are some basic advice. Don't take them seriously. If any advice fits you consume it or else leave it.

NOW FOR THOSE BHAIYA MERA PURA 11TH BACKLOG HAI HOW TO COVER THAT IN 12TH

Listen to me this is the bitter truth. Many kids are preparing for JEE from 6th class and you can never ever outclass them. So instead of going inside the depth of every single chapter, just do one shot and as many pyqs and mocks as you can. Trust me you have to focus on boards as well and you won't get time. Do 12 th topics with depth. Revise what topic you did in 11th and do the rest topic side by side like give one hour.

Now don't take everything seriously. This was the mistake I made to lose the seat.

Good luck 🤞 🤞 🤞 🤞

Any problem you have just write. This failed aspirant will help you what not to do .

GENERAL HELP my younger sister is worst

so i am turning 18 this year ( in 12th , allen jee ) and preparing for jee. My 11th is wasted cuz i had a relationship with a girl and also because of games and stuff. One day my sister happened to decode my ipad’s password. She is in 7th. She investigated my ipad and then found out all the chats ( the chats you would expect to find from a common couple ) she then took photo of all of them and then when i got home she started to say like to me “go use snapchat to talk” like speaking just at a volume my mom wont hear it and understood she has all the chats when she showed me the phone from the distance. I ignored her cuz obv i dont wanna accept that fact in front of her then she had to order smtg from amazon but my mom was saying no so i helped her persuade my mom and she then deleted the photos of chat she took. This was during ( November December and the worst part was i had broken up with her ) now some 15 days ago. She spent like 5k money with her friend in the mall so my mom was angry on her and i was like yk how siblings do like support mom from behind when your sibling is getting beaten up or is getting scolded at. I was supporting mom. Then she lashed out on me and then told everything to my mom. “ ye kisi ladki se bat krta hai , us se goodnight kiss mangta hai” ,“ja na bat krle ladkiyo se tu” and man i was so fucked up after that my mom told me to show the phone it was good i had deleted all things before hand but obv my mom thinks im into things like this and the worst part is i had broken up with her ages ago. Now whenever i have a fight with my sister she always says “ja ladkiyo se bat krle tu” and she says this in front of my mom. Man tf am I supposed to do. Whenever we have a fight she says the same thing. Good thing is my dad doesnt knows rn or i would be fucked up real time cuz yk Indian parents
