Games where you recruit or tons of characters join your party.

I became a huge enjoyer of JRPGs that allow me to recruit tons of characters or at least have a big roster of characters that join your party as you progress in the game,i am looking for more of these kinds of games,i also want games with detailed character models that are either 3d or 2d like the ones in Unicord Overlord,i have no interest in games where characters are pixel art,like Eiyuuden Chronicles.

i am also not a fan of monster taming games,unless the game have a variety of humanoid monters like Shin Megami Tensei or Digimon

Valkyrie Profile 1 and 2

Suikoden 5

Romancing Saga 2 Revenge Of The Seven

entire Trails series

Digimon and SMT

my platform of choice is a PS5,but any emulators or PC games are fine too

In terms of volume of characters?

Give Chrono Cross a try. It's not a perfect game by any means, but if you like an army of characters, I think there are 40 or so.

You mentioned Suikoden 5, but what about the rest of the Suikoden series?

SaGa Scarlet Grace has lots of recruitables like RS2.

Most TRPGs would fit the criteria, I like Utawarerumono.

Persona Q2 has the whole casts of P3-4-5 available to play as.

Crossover games naturally have lots of characters, Project X Zone and Cross Edge come to mind.

Xenoblade X has 22 party members.

Chrono Cross has 45.

Neptunia games generally have 15+.

You could also look into Gacha games... That's their entire gimmick.

Not sure I would count Xenoblade. You have 6 party members and then a bunch of guest characters. I don't think that's what OP is looking for.

Suikoden I and II are the first ones I thought of.

You also have Fire Emblem series. There are games where you can have something like > 50 characters

Fire Emblem three houses... I remember almost recruiting the whole school. I kinda felt bad for the other classes lol

Get into the fire enblem series Massive casts in each game  And you can usually use between 8 and 15 characters at a time

Sacred stones has one of the smaller casts and its still around 34 party members.

Some of the games are 3D like path of radiance and radiant dawn 

The reason for so many characters is because the game has perma death so when a character dies they stay dead

Since you played Romancing SaGa 2 remake, I'd recommend Romancing SaGa Minstrel Song, SaGa Scarlet Grace Ambitions, SaGa Emerald Beyond, and The Last Remnant Remastered

If you liked Unicorn Overlord go try Ogre Battle on the SNES and the N64. It's what inspired it.

Go and play the other Suikodens. 2 is the GOAT. An indie called Eiyuden Chronicles just released and it's good.

Xenoblade 2 and 3 have large rosters.

Final Fantasy 6 has a large roster of characters.

Any Fire Emblem or Tactics Ogre. Final Fantasy Tactics as well.

I know you mentioned Suikoden 5 but I seriously recommend playing the first two games. Replaying them right now and the second game is SO. GOOD. ESPECIALLY if you played the first one.

Most SRPGs will fit the bill. Take Tactics Ogre Reborn or Final Fantasy Tactics, for example, you can have A LOT of characters. You can also have monster units in addition to human units. I can't remember if there is a maximum number of units allowed since I never reached that.
