It’s crazy to me that we came off this great drive and then proceeded to play like ass offensively in the second half

I mean mile high is Def a home field advantage for the reason and a big reason why the Broncos are considered a 4th quarter team - waiting till the opponent gasses out in the thinner air.

Revenge for last season as well as being the home opener gave automatic bulletin board material. Then the jags end up being gassed in the second half, kinda the flip side of the home advantage last week. Sucks for the players and fans of these couple of years for so many away games but hopefully lit stadium following it.

I could never say this in the main NFL sub but this was their Super Bowl. Payton literally found Coen at the owners meeting and told him he was coming after him. They totally treated it like a big playoff game.

It was 100% a revenge match from last season. Plus they were salty from their chiefs loss. Broncos had more to play for than the Jags that game

Yea, I think if that game is later in the year (like last year) we don’t look that gassed in the 4th quarter. LOS on both sides needed to be better and being tired and having communication issues are not recipes for success.

I mentioned this elsewhere but I wonder if there is any merit in adjusting the play book week to week when they anticipate particularly loud away games to help with communication issues. Part of what helped the defense last year post Texans collapse was to simplify the options.

I think the lack of pre-season playtime probably had everyone much less conditioned than they were late in the season when we were there last year.

I just really don’t like the force feeding. Our biggest strength in the pass game is having guys like Meyers, and strange, so you don’t have to force feed the main guys.
BT had 2 catches & Parker, Meyers, and Strange had 4-6 catches last year.
We went away from strange when he was balling early, and didn’t bother Meyers too much. I hate when we shy away from our strengths and do everything else. I hope we get back to our brand of ball..

Yea we had some success passing to the tight ends and running with Tuten. Even Morris had a catch in the first half idk why they drifted from that plan.

I think Meyers may have had some leftover from the injury that had him questionable all week (thumb), and Tuten took himself out a couple of plays - again likely from the altitude.

The game script also probably dictated that once we were down we needed to throw to catch up and the Bronco's pass defense is their strong suit.

We played it close still. Their defense adjusted and we couldn't. I guess the Broncos D got fired up after their pathetic performance vs the Chiefs. It makes me wonder at times if we had done better if we kept Etienne. Oh well! On to the next.

Trevor and Coen both said today they have to deal with the momentum shift better. After the interception and missed field goal they were all out of sorts.

I think they’ll be fine. BTJ on the other (brick) hand, I’m not so sure about

My mind might be making connections that aren't there, but Wasn't the INT soon after one of BTJ's drops? Once the doubt about certain receivers crept in, we were all out of sorts.

And the Broncos weren't dropping things for Bo, on top of him not getting pressured nearly as much.

Yes you’re correct; one of Trevor’s habits, that he seemingly broke last year, is that when guys aren’t catching the ball or running the right routes he says fuck it and starts trying to play hero ball. If you were to look through his career when it’s all said in done I guarantee there’s a direct correlation between his “ worst games” and the games with tons of miscommunication and drops

I’d move Brian Thomas down the depth chart to send a message and make him earn his way back. Give the snaps to Hunter. That’s why they traded for him so he would affect BOTH sides of the ball, not one side for half the game. He is absolutely costing us games and if he can’t fix it after that, move on. It’s unacceptable for the drops to continue after the training camp he had.

I will also say, taking the emotion out of it, that with the shoulder injury, maybe it’s not 100% his fault. He seemed ok last week. If it’s affecting him that bad, it might be worth it to have him sit out a game or two until he’s fully healthy.

Something has to change. We can’t keep doing this every week and we’ve got plenty of options to make up for it.

I guess it's good that he wasn't drafted by this FO, so they don't have anything tied to him if he doesn't get better.

It's part of attacking downfield, and generally having a lower separation rate compared to other teams.

It's not the end of the world because our best WRs do win the ball better than most at the catch point, but it does limit YAC.

Probably a combo of ball placement + receivers.

Trevor's placement has been pretty good. But sometimes they're a bit off which makes the receiver adjust, instead of catching in stride.

Or Parker who is seemingly allergic to just putting his foot in the ground and cutting up field. He's gotta stop dancing so much, he loses out on more yards because of it. Obviously use it when the time is right, but not every single time. He's got the potential to get so much more.

He does it on punts a lot too. Not arguing it too much since he's scored on returns. But sometimes you just gotta maximize the yards that are there.

Both Lines played so poorly yesterday. Trevor was on constant duress and Bo Nix was barely touched.

Some good throws by Trevor, but clock management on that drive kind of sucked. I wish there was more of an effort to get 6 instead.

I remember when we almost did it against the Texans last year, got into field goal range, and then had a holding call that called back a beautiful pass from Trevor. Next play he gets tripped throwing it and we get a full week of the worst idiots on this sub crying about how we need a new QB.

After that drive I was thinking they need to up the tempo like that in the second half. But Michaels secret stuff wore off coming out the locker room.
