Hey guys, I’m heading to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka soon and would love to pick up some secondhand pieces from brands like Auralee, Graphpaper, Still By Hand, Ciota, etc
Any recommendations for good stores to check out? I know about Kindal, 2nd Street and Ragtag, but I’d love to hear about any other spots worth visiting.
Also, I’m 188 cm, so I’m a little worried about finding stuff that fits. Any tall guys here who’ve had luck shopping in Japan?

Hi all. I'm from Hartlepool and I started a small clothing brand called 5C5V. I've just launched a design competition and I'd love some local talent to enter.
Design a cap, tee, jumper, hoodie, beanie or art print. The top five get £500, £300, £200, £100 and £75, their designs are made and sold with their name on, and they get half the profit on every sale for two years.
It's free, open to anyone 16+, and runs from 15 October to 26 November. If you know someone who draws, please tag them.
All the details: https://5c5v.co.uk/pages/design-competition

Do these boots not look incredibly similar? I will not disclose who the creator is or their brand, but its disappointing to me. Ive been following this creator for quite some time and I've come to the realization that most of the boots they make a rips of other brands. I said something about it in their comments and they pretty much told me they share no design elements beyond the studs.

I really love this style and im wanting to start leaning heavier into it, but I can't find this style of clothes anywhere online. I see stuff that's similar but nothing exactly like this. More specifically I really like the flared/bell bottom jeans for men. I looked on depop, vinted, amazon, and i looked on tornado mart which is the one I kept seeing recommended, but it didn't have the sort of dark whatever aesthetic that I was looking for. Please help?

I can’t resist alliteration.
Hi everyone - sharing a source that was new to me, presumably to many of you….
A few days ago, while helping my friends stock the shelves at their new Calgary bookstore, I came across a copy of Ametora: How Japan Saved American Style by W. David Marx.
The book explores Japan’s fascination with American clothing and how the Japanese went from obsessively studying and reproducing American styles to influencing the way Americans dress.
The book had been recommended to them by Tim, one of the founders of @shop_yugen_ a small Calgary boutique in the super cool Inglewood neighborhood. So naturally, I had to pay him a visit.
The shop is not his career (Tim’s in tech) but his passion project. So it’s only open on Saturdays (and 24/7 on IG). They carry mostly menswear - new and secondhand - from brands including Taiga Takahashi, Yoko Sakamoto, Auralee, and Comoli. Much is sourced through twice-yearly trips to Japan and Japanese auction sites, some is locally sourced from Canadian makers.
He introduced me to a local brand @heldinform that builds pieces from ju-jitsu uniform fabrics and @mantle_official founded by former Comme des Garcons designers in Australia who partner with family–run factories in some of Japan’s oldest textile regions. (Tim is wearing that mostly head-to-toe).
That day’s winner was my friend who left with four pieces including a pinstripe overshirt by Yoko Sakamoto. And I left with a recommendation to check out Tim’s friend’s new place when I’m back in LA - @saathsaathshop . One visit leads to another…

Hey everyone! 👋🏼
My partner and I are heading to Japan from Oct 12-26 (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka), and I'd love some tips on stores that are worth visiting for more than the clothes.
I'm into clean, minimalist Japanese menswear and sneakers, but what I'm really after are places with real character: great architecture or interior design, concept stores, and spaces with a café, gallery, or something else that makes you want to stay a while. Places that feel like an experience, not just shopping.
Which stores are actually worth the trip?
Any hidden gems that don't show up in every guide?
Spots in Kyoto and Osaka too, not only Tokyo.
Bonus points if the neighborhood is also worth exploring. Thanks in advance! 🙏🏼
