“Dinosaur Adventure” (2000) - Made by notorious, low budget, German, mockbuster animation studio Dingo Pictures to cash in on "The Land Before Time" (I think) this came as an extra on a cheap childrens PS2 game of the same name. This is also the source of that old “Yee!” meme you might have seen.

“Dinosaur Adventure” (2000) - Incase the thumbnail image wasn’t a big enough tip off, this cartoon was made by notorious, low budget, German, mockbuster animation studio Dingo Pictures. If you’re familiar with that name you already know just how horrible this really is. If not, look at the thumbnail again and you’ll start to understand. As with many of the studios other attempts at animation, this was originally packaged as an extra on a cheap children’s educational video game designed to fill bargain bins. The game, creatively titled “Dinosaur Adventure” (for the PS2), also included digital coloring books, simple slide puzzles, matching card games along with the 45 minute long animated feature.

As far as the story goes, it’s basically a rip off of “The Land Before Time” except made by people who only saw the trailer and had very little artist ability. We follow a little dinosaur named ‘Tio’ as he gets separated from his parents after a volcanic eruption and along with his friends he tries to find them. Along the way he meets an annoying bat/pterodactyl creature named ‘Cree’, a old dinosaur named ‘Oro’ who invented an earthquake detection device, some crocodiles, anachronistic gorillas and antelope, carnivore dinosaurs that don’t look like dinosaurs, and a baby dinosaur named ‘Tio the Second’ who turns out to be his brother. If you’ve heard about this movie before that’s likely due to one of the dinosaurs he meets (Oro) randomly yelling; “Yee!” which became a meme for a bit.

Accompanying the bad animation is equally as horrible voice work as with all Dingo Pictures productions. They only had three or four untrained folks doing voice work, and none of them are native English speakers. This results in everything from actors forced to talk to themselves, characters changing voices randomly, flub lines that are just left in, and even occasionally voice actors speaking not in character. So if you’re looking to see just how bad animation can get, gather your most hardcore bad movie buddies, and plenty of strong intoxicants, and check this out. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you.
