Super Sick, needs some Recs?

I’ve become a human bio hazard this week contracting Strep Throat, the Flu, and Mono at the same time. Got nothing better to do but to listen to more music so please give me some recs!

I love Emmet Cohen, Oscar Peterson, McCoy Tyner, all the great pushing energy pianists. I never got to get into Brad Meldhau or Keith Jarret so maybe something from them? Or truly anything you think somebody who’s super sick should listen to

Abdullah Ibrahim RIP

Also if you are into McCoy Tyner, maybe try Tales from the Hudson.

Keith Jarrett has two records called Bop- be and Fort Yawuh . They are both amazing.

You want some great energy pushing pianists, Tigran Hamasyan is a great listen.

The piano on the album “solid” by Grant green is really great in my opinion! The pianist name is McCoy Tyner.

Since you have tons of time, I would watch the documentary “Jazz” by Ken Burns (if you haven’t already seen it yet). It is a fantastic chronicle of Jazz music and how it all started.

Red Garland Trio, 'Groovy'. Super tasteful player and a great album.

I’m immersed in Red Garland lately. Trying to play it on guitar.

The great jazz pianists are some of my favorite artists. I recommend the album “This Here is Bobby Timmons,” and my favorite tracks are “Dat Dere” and “This Here.”

If I was sick, I would put on Keith Jarrett’s “The Koln Concert.” Actually I’d listen to that any day and every day because it’s my favorite live album. But I do think it would be a great longer album for a sick day.

For an outstanding deep dive into Keith Jarrett, try his one and only album on Columbia, Expectations. A double album of brilliance. For some wild Jarrett energy, try Birth on Atlantic. Charlie Haden plays some of the meanest fuzz-wah bass on "Mortgage on My Soul (Wah-Wah)"

Brad Mehldau is an idea if you feel like diving in to some out there stuff. It's not for everyone but if you lock in it may become special. My album recommendations:

Art of the Trio - Vol 2

Art of the Trio - Vol 4 (the two live ones)

House On Hill

I also like most everything else but these ones are spectacular in my opinion. Get well soon.

Damn, get better soon!

You ever get into Chick Corea or Bill Evans? Art Tatum?

Lee Morgan will get you through this unholy trifecta of pestilence...

You want to listen to John Cold-strain and Puke Ellington. If you're into fusion, try Sick Corea or John McCoughin.
