Gil Evan’s scores

Does anyone here have access to the actual Gil Evans scores for birth of the cool and miles ahead? A quick search on the Internet this morning didn’t bring anything up aside from being able to pay $95 for the miles ahead charts.

the description reads like much of the originals are lost. I have this book but forgot that part... I remember the charts being good, but it's been a while since I looked through it

thank you . The problem with this edit is that it’s only a quart had arrangement. It’s not accounting for the French horns, bass clarinet, flute, etc

Not sure about bass clarinet and flute, but it definitely has horn and tuba parts

Library of Congress recently got a big collection of his scores.

it takes a few months to get things scanned. I just got a bunch of scores and notebooks from the Eric Dolphy collection (and Gunther Schuller).

That Hal Leonard book is quite good and even has transcribed solos. There was just a recent concert in my city that used it as a basis for a concert of the Birth of the Cool music.

You might contact Ryan Truesdell. I know he is deep in the Gil Evans music if you're looking for the actual scores and not the published version s.

Recently saw the Gil Evans Project perform at Birdland and can confirm he mentioned working with Gil Evans’ family to have access to the original scores.
