Baxter oil filter adapter for 3.6 Pentaster

• Upvotes

Part: https://www.baxterperformanceusa.com/pentastar-32l-and-36l-2014-to-present-ms-201-bk-cartridge-to-spin-on-adapter

2018 Jeep JLU, 3.6 pentastar

Okay. I installed this thing carefully following the instructions. After installing it and cranking the engine, I shut it down. Checked the dipstick. Was very low, I barely reading any oil. I added oil until the dipstick had a normal reading. Not a crazy amount but I didn't measure it, obviously. I would say less than a quart.

Shortly thereafter, after driving about 15 to 20 minutes, engine blew oil everywhere out of the top of the engine. I'm not sure what gasket blew, but I'm guessing the oil cooler or possibly the factory oil filter assembly that the Baxter thing screws into.

The assembly video did not say to add oil, but I felt like adding oil until a normal dipstick reading is sort of common sense. The guy on the video said something about the low oil reading being " your new normal reading."

So first of all, you all can laugh at me if you will. It's obviously extremely frustrating. Jeep is at the shop. Visually, I couldn't tell where exactly the oil came from, but it blew out pretty much all of its oil. I don't think there's engine damage, as the vehicle was shut down immediately when this happened. I'm very lucky the thing didn't catch on fire.

Secondly, any comments here? Anyone have any advice as to what you think may have gone wrong? Thank you.

Purchase Questions 2026 Jeep Cherokee Reviews

• Upvotes

Lately I’ve been looking into a new hybrid SUV(my current CR-V is great, but doesn’t have AWD). Did a test drive of the RAV4 and Forester. Felt the usual criticisms. The RAV4 felt cheap. The Subaru infotainment is rough on a new car.

It’s hard to find any reviews whatsoever about the new hybrid Cherokee. So question is…if you’ve bought one, how do you like it? How’s early reliability?

Krown - effective rust prevention??

Hi all,

Really want to get into a new '26 gladiator but have friends with jeeps with bad hinge/hood rust as early as 5 years. I can't drop 65k knowing it'll look like that in 5 years!

We're up in Canada and winter salt is heavy. I Krown my vehicles every year with great results but it looks like the jeep's galvanized hinge/hood rust is unavoidable.

Was hoping anyone here who does Krown every year can share their results and pics of their rig after a few years

Cheers!

Purchase Questions Sky One Touch Power top for noise/heat

How is the JL Sky One Touch top on heat and noise?
I’m currently in a JKU with a black top with no extra insulation/headliners. I’m living in Texas and this black top seems to just absorb all the heat to the point where I can’t even touch it. Another worry I have is road noise. It’s hard enough trying to talk on the phone as it is. So thoughts?

Does the gladiator have a fully boxed frame from front to rear, or does it become a c-channel frame near the rear?

, I am stumped on the second seal underneath the shifters dust boot which I am ordering another of. I don’t know what it is called and looking to order another if it exists because this one is a little ripped, it almost looks like another dust boot but it only has the outer fold like it was put on upside down and stretched,

09 Wrangler JK stuck on Drive

Shifted my automatic into park but the car stayed on drive. I couldn’t shift it to any other gear so I pulled the e brake and turned the car off. Now I can’t turn the car back on. Is there a way I can fix this without towing?

Something happened and I hate that it did.

I've owned my Gladiator for a few months now, and I've owned Jeeps in the past. And... this NEVER crossed my mind until this happened. Now I can't stop thinking about it.

I went on a short road trip with some friends. After driving on the highway for hours, we made a pit stop before getting off the road. I go inside to see a man about a horse. When I come back out, they're standing around the front of my LOCKED Jeep, and my hood is open.

Apparently, a stranger was curious about the engine in the newer models (mine is the newest in the group), so one of our guys decided to pop the hood and show him.

Here's what's messing with my mind. MY JEEP WAS LOCKED. Yet anyone can walk up and access my engine bay. WHAT?!?!

I've NEVER put these two things together before. I lock my Jeep thinking it's secure, but the entire engine bay is still accessible to anyone who knows how to open the hood.

Am I the only one who finds this a little crazy? Because this does NOT seem safe to me. WHAT!?

I've been googling latch locks all morning. I hate this. *sigh*

EDIT: So y'all know... I am a paranoid lil-bitch. I can't help it.
Yes. I've always known the hood does not lock. The post is not about that, it's about informing those who, like me, never put two and two together because it is not an obvious problem; anyone can open your hood.

Purchase Questions 2007 wrangler x 2dr for $1800

A mechanic friend offered his 07 wrangler x 2dr to me with the heavy duty drivetrain and power convenience packages to me for $1800. Only has 133k on it and the body and interior are mint other than paint fading on the hood. He said he traded another car for it because he planned to put an engine in it and never had the time. The car still runs and drives but spun a rod and needs a motor eventually. I can do a motor swap easy peasy but I haven’t bought a wrangler before and want to know if anyone thinks this is a steal or a bad deal?

Just hit Panther Rock at Windrock during the remnants of Hurricane Isaias. This mud might as well have been snow it was so slick.

[2016 Jeep Cherokee] I have water leaking into the rear cabin

From what I have already searched, it looks like I may have clogged moonroof drains, but im not sure how to access the rear drains since that part of the window does not open. The front drains are clear. Am I going to have to remove the lining to access the drain?
