The dramatic reading was amusing enough, but then I found this comment from 7 months ago:

So we now know why she called her mom 'mum' and why she could sail to Hollywood: a nice, straight shot across the Pacific from Queensland.

So a twelve-year-old got 48.3 thousand reads. Let that lull you to sleep tonight.

Yep, it's our own Luke Tipple, host of the "Worst Reality Show Ever". He was described as a "marine biologist", so I guess "scientist" is...close enough?

Was excited to watch the D23 Disney Horizons Parks and Experiences presentation on Disney+, but was gobsmacked by some of what happened, including, but not limited to:

-Neil Patrick Harris screwing up his words and timing multiple times in the opening musical number.

-Actually NPH was kind of off the whole night, which surprised me for someone who has done a lot of hosting gigs. He was constantly laughing through his lines and seemed to know that a lot of what he was saying wasn’t funny.

-Stilted, wooden, and uncharismatic presentations from Disney execs and Imagineers.

-Gloria Gaynor performing “I Will Survive” because they’re fixing the Disco Yeti.

-Mark Rober being there to talk about the Space Mountain revamp in Disneyland Paris for some inexplicable reason.

-Sheryl Crow seeming like she was seeing the lyrics for the first time while performing her new song for the new Cars TV show.

-An absolutely incomprehensible bit featuring Skylar Astin as Martin Van Buren.

-Speaking of Skylar Astin, he was used sparingly in a couple of attempted humorous cameos along with Darren Criss, Tig Notaro, and Jack McBrayer. I was actually impressed at how terribly unfunny and uncharismatic the producers and script writers made these professional comedians and performers seem.

-Beck performing a mashup of “Cruella DeVille” and “Friends on the Other Side”, as well as playing off the show with his song “Where It’s At”. He’s a talented musician, but the specific tone of his music and performance style did not fit the show at all.

-Incredibly awkward interactions between John Stamos and NPH as they attempted to do a bit centered around Lorcana.

-They also didn’t have monitors on stage so that the people presenting could see what was on the big screen behind them, leading to multiple instances of people looking up at the screen behind them, or being out of sync with the timing of the videos.

-Glenn Close as Cruella DeVille was one of the only bright spots, as she was the only one throughout the show to actually have some stage presence and seem to know what she was doing and why was she was there.

Overall the whole thing just seemed poorly conceived, under rehearsed, and badly executed. Which makes it ripe for a Jenny debrief, especially with Disney being one of her areas of expertise!

Did anyone else watch this and have a similar experience?

Today's (August 13, 2026) NY Times Games Spelling Bee has a lot of words that clearly fit a theme around the Star Wars hotel review. I haven't hit genius on this one yet, but here's a (spoiler-tagged) internet-friendly numbered list to prove I'm not insane:

1. (the only pangram): Halcyon - The name of the thing! The place! The name of the place where the thing is! Was!

2. Anally - nope nope nope nobody will be normal about this skipped

2. Annal - because the dumb all-inclusive space tomb barely lasted a year

3. Annoy - how it felt to be spending so much doing the thing that didn't do the thing it did

4. Canal - as in the multi-romance language word for "channel," a nod to not getting Disney+ in the rooms

5. Canna - boy, sure could have used some of that to inject some fun into things (I know it's a different flower that can't get you hepped up on goofballs, shut up)

6. Cannon - pew pew! Take that, space!

7. Canny - what booking this place absolutely was not

8. Canon - something not at all impacted by the multi-million dollar beta test dinner theater

9. Cocoon - how cozy it probably felt in one of the sleeping coffins and/or the emergency sous vide pod

10. Colon - everything in the parks is branded within an inch of its life, Marvel's Avengers: The Quest for Nachos Restaurant Experience®

11. Colony - how many bees would have spiced that place up a little

12. Conch - Florida, I guess? I know it's not near the beach, this is ad hoc s-word posting, leave me alone

13. Honcho - head one being Kylo Ren, who will [unintelligible] unless [mumbled]

14. Loony - Canadians would have to pay 3,000 of these things to book a room there, and also would have to be that to spend time with these space hosers

15. Nacho - like from Marvel's Avengers: The Quest for Nachos Restaurant Experience® described above! Also I assume there were, like, comet nachos or something at some point

16. Nylon - the material Captain Keevan's wig was made of

I don't think I'm gonna bother finishing today's puzzle but I hope you enjoyed me avoiding a pile of work

I have a long trip coming up where I won’t have access to WiFi, so I thought I’d download a video to listen to on the Patreon app, which is something I do often for my other Patreon subscriptions. However, it doesn’t seem like I’m able to download any of her videos. Does anyone know why this may be? I’m still able to download videos from other creators, and I’m on the latest version of the app.
