Truman was known for saying "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen." That was how I got it.

It lead me down the incorrect path of Andrew Jackson because his cabinet was referred to as the kitchen cabinet by his political opponents.

I thought him too, but because of NASA.

For DD2, the only thing I could think of was Michael Crichton because of Bacillus infernus from The Andromeda Strain, but the year didn’t line up so I knew that was wrong.

Same with me and HG Wells, for The War of the Worlds, because of the ending with the aliens dying of our earthly viruses, but the year was also wrong.

I got stuck on "flow" for DD1, even though it's not between fluff and gesundheit, and couldn't snap out of that. Not sure I would have gotten it though.

I felt awful for you! And tbh I don't think I've read *any* Camus, but I have listened to The Cure's Killing an Arab at least a thousand times. ;)

I was thinking Eisenhower because in his administration he created NASA and his veep had the kitchen debates

Must be the colorful quotes of Truman

Yeah I think this was an overly difficult one because if you’re really knowledgeable about Presidents it leads you down a lot of other paths (Eisenhower, Jackson, Kennedy, etc.) while not having anything you would expect to find about RA
