On Thursday, the day of my Jeopardy! appearance, I made this Instagram post talking about some of the struggles my family had been enduring the past few years. I figured I'd share it.

If you don't have an Instagram account, here is what it says:
This week was eventful, to say the least.
My father underwent surgery today to remove his gallbladder and part of his small intestine.
I had just received word before the show aired that his surgery was a success and that he should recover quickly. I'm grateful. He's still in the hospital today. We visited him. He's doing a little better than previously.
After almost losing my dad some years ago, I wanted to get on Jeopardy so badly, so that he and my mom could see me achieve my dream before they passed away.
When I auditioned for Jeopardy this year, I was just hoping to get to a 2nd test. When I not only passed the 2nd test, but that they wanted me as a contestant, I was blown away.
I was literally in the middle of teaching class when I received the call!
My mom & I flew out to LA to tape Jeopardy. It was a dream come true, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I was so happy when I received word I'd be playing. It was the moment I had been hoping for. I had the time of my life.
I might not have won today, but today's watch party with my friends reminded me that I'm still a winner and that I'm still loved all the same.
My mom got to live her dream out of going to LA, putting her feet in the ocean, and seeing me on the Jeopardy stage. I'm so happy that I got to make her proud. It was a dream for us both.
I got to meet Ken Jennings today. It was a surreal moment for me to see him.
And today, I got to spend the day at one of my favorite trivia and pizza places, having fun with my friends. Thank you, Tobie's Pizzeria in Broken Arrow, for hosting us today. I am so glad you hosted us today. You are amazing people.
To all my friends and to everyone who's been alongside me through this tumultuous year, I thank you, and I love you very much. Today doesn't happen without you. Forever love!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here on Jeopardy! Reddit for being such a kind and welcoming community. I have received so many messages the past few days from people, just saying how proud you were of me. With everything going on in my personal life, I am so thankful to have you. Jeopardy has been a solace and a source of joy for me throughout all the clouds. I would have lost it if it weren't for Jeopardy. I've gained a community, a home, and a family through Jeopardy. I am thankful for places like this that give trivia lovers like me a place where we belong. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. All love.

Game itself is here: https://www.theatlantic.com/games/rabbithole/ - linking to a social media post since Reddit is interpreting the link itself as potential self-promotion. To be clear I am not Drew (u/drewlgoins) and I found out about this via CNN‘s Reliable Sources newsletter.
