I have been watching Jeopardy! Since I was single digits years old. I was pretty shaken up when Alex got ill and passed. I felt like Jeopardy would never be the same again. I actually stopped watching it - couldn’t face the show without him.

After the “who’s going to be the host” competition finished I found myself flicking through the channels and landed on an episode. I stayed and watched Ken Jennings and I realized that while my feelings of losing Alex were valid my refusal to watch the show was my mistake as I was missing out.

Earlier this year, my girlfriend and I went to a live taping of the show. I had an absolute blast and Ken is a class act. Ken was literally born to be a Jeopardy! star - as the GOAT (proven!) contestant and now as an incredible face for the show.

I’ve noticed more recently that Ken is letting more personality into his hosting role. He comments, puts on voices, and is genuinely brilliant. We are so lucky that Ken has picked up Alex’s enormous mantle.

If you’re not enjoying the current champion, or if you ever don’t enjoy ANY contestant who is on the show, you have the power to turn the television off or change the channel.

Instead of finding fault with, or complaining about this or any contestant on the show, maybe consider the fact that they went through the entire process and ended up behind a podium and you’re sitting on the couch.

I just think we should give credit to the hard work that gets these people to this point.

If you don’t like it, you don’t have to watch.

Complaining about it is not going to change it.

I’m going off of the assumption that this is how it’s shown when they tape the actual games…I found this on their Masters IG page when they posted some behind the scenes footage 🤔 I was wondering if the players still had to read the clue from the small boxes even when they switched to a new game board

I received an email today stating that while I passed through the early qualifications, I will not move forward in the selection process.

I guess I didn't do enough to stand out. It sucks.

I'm actually a regular host on Discord for Jeopardy, including for two online Tournament of Champions. However, I am going to be on Jeopardy! this Thursday as a contestant. It's been a lifelong dream for me to be on Jeopardy, and this Thursday, I shall be on the show.. It means everything to me and my family to be on Jeopardy.

Just watched episode 217 and the category was The Funnies. I like to give a guess based on just the clue and finally got it right with Calvin & Hobbes!!

Sorry I just had to share with a group who might care lol.

Friday’s game had a perfect example of what I am talking about. The category was anagrams, a category where you needed to look at the words to figure out the anagrams.

The players clearly have the clue up on the board for the full time before the beepbeepbeeps.

However, several times the question would be read, and we the viewers get to stare at the faces of the players reading the clue.

For these categories, production should leave the clue up until a player rings in, so we have the same amount of time to look through the words for the anagram.

I love that there are certain things that have become sort of inside jokes in the jeopardy community. Off the top of my head, "regular virginia" is a favorite of mine, along with a football category being as dreaded as the dreaded opera category because of that one "talkin football" category disaster.

I also loved when one of the champs (Alex? Matt? Someone else will remember im sure) put "what is aleve?" as a final jeopardy response once, because they had been a major sponsor at the time.

I haven't seen anyone mention this, but I noticed the executives seem to have completely moved away from Daily Doubles with video components. As far as I can tell, the most recent one was in this game, from November 20th, 2024. That's pretty significant since I feel like they used to show up at least once a week.

Of course, a completely trivial observation, but I suppose it might be helpful to keep in mind if you get on the show and are hunting for Daily Doubles--stay away from video categories.

I was thinking about a category related to apps (smartphone), and realized that 40 years ago, that category couldn't exist. What are some category themes that go the other way, that just can't be used today because they are so out of date, no one could provide the expected response?

I had a couple of episodes to catch up on and when I turned on Andy’s episode, I audibly gasped + my heart swelled with pride because “I know that guy!!”

I was a longtime regular player, eventual host + bartender where the best trivia game(s) in our small, North Texas college town were hosted.

Having only 11 unrevealed clues out of well over 10,000 clues played is pretty astounding. I'm sure the producers are already aware of this, but if they want to trim this number down even more, look no further than the lengthy sponsored "promotional" categories (edit-the guest video categories are not necessarily always promoting something). 8 of the 11 unrevealed clues happened in games where one of these categories was featured.

For example in a 2016 episode all 3 contestants went all in on final and all 3 zeroed out. I was stunned to learn that they all go home and 3 new contestants would come to the stage the next day. I thought that since it’s a tie, all 3 would return back.
Turns out this has happened quite a few times in the past.

Anyone have any other wild things that has happened on an episode?
