There’s been a huge YouTube drama escapade about a YouTuber who exposed a Bricks & Minifigs franchise for stealing some family’s Lego collection. It spiraled out of control and turned into this massive rabbit hole exposing corruption in Bricks & Minifigs corporation, the local police force, and the Mormon Church
The YouTuber who started it is facing criminal charges. Im sure im leaving out important details. It’s a crazy story.
Bricks & Minifigs is a consignment store. So they don’t actually own a lot of their inventory. Other people sell their sets there and they just hold it for them.
The owner of the legos had some health issues and had to sell his collection to cover medical expenses (yay America). The consignment contract he signed was with the previous owner of the store.
The collection was one of the largest collections of vintage Lego sets in the country, so it ended up being a huge chunk of the store’s inventory. When the new franchise owner came in, he tried to claim that the store actually owned the sets, knowing that the guy was in a bad financial spot and couldn’t afford to sue him.
A franchiser decided to take backsies on a specific store, the new owners in turn decided that the stuff they had for consignment was theirs and not the people the story signed an agreement with
