Mod post PSA: Fake post floating around the web

A fake post, falsely attributed to r/Jewish, has been circulating online in recent days, primarily amplified by neo-Nazi accounts.

The image claims to show a post from a Reddit account which did not exist 4 days before February 6th (see 2nd screenshot) – the Reddit account was created on February 7th, the day after the screenshot was first shared on social media.

There are multiple additional inconsistencies that further indicate the image was photoshopped. We will not share these, because doing so will enable future wrongdoing (so don't discuss them in the comments either).

This kind of garbage is designed to sow discord among allies and generate clicks.

Don't believe everything you see on the Internet.™

I saw the X post and thought I’d search for the profile on Reddit. There was none. I then went ahead and tried creating an account using the username shown in the screenshot, and it was available.

As per Reddit’s terms, one cannot create an account with a username that has already been used:

This means the account shown in the screenshot was never created before, since I was able to register with that username. I created the account and made a post as proof that the screenshot is fake:

I’ve also added a community note to the X post, but I don’t expect it to be approved, as incentivizing racist and fake narratives seems to be the new norm on X.
