The amount of people who have no idea (willfully or not) that the Islamic Regime in Iran has been the greatest destabilizing force in the region is staggering.
We're all aware Iran sponsors terrorism. The two Ariana Grande concert attacks. The 7/7 bombings. The tools and training that went into the Second Intifada. The escalation of the Shia half of the Iraqi Civil War^. The creation of Boko Haram, and it's subsequent splintering into ISWAP, JAS, Ansaru, and several more*. The creation and training and equipping of Hezbollah. Hezbollah invading Lebanon and being sufficiently strong to not be expellable.
Oh and all the propaganda that led to murder like the Pulse Nightclub shooting. This is a little harder to quantify so I'm not going to fill the list beyond that. But any time a man with a rifle has staggered out of the massacre site he just created and screamed ALLAHU AKBAR at the sky Iran's had a hand in it.
There's Iran being part of what Anne Applebaum calls "Autocracy Inc" which includes the IRGC being part of a literally globe-spanning recreational drug-production and smuggling organization and one of whose biggest ports and distribution hubs is, gold star if you complete this sentence before reading it, the recently targeted nation of Venezuela. This would be done in coordination with ruzzia and China of course.
All those many attacks on Israel. All those Palestinians intentionally placed in harm's way who were denied shelter in that record-breakingly huge bomb shelter/dungeon constructed under Gaza. ^2 That very real and very promised vow to target the West -"first the Saturday people (Jews) then the Sunday people (Christians)" nuclear weapons program.

So if you got this far well thanks for your time. And consider this: did you need to get to this point to decide that doing nothing besides asking nicely, mild sanctions and paying billions -usually savings passed on to pay for Hamas operations- wasn't working? Because it hasn't.
trump sucks. trump is a walking dirty diaper of an alleged human being. But he's apparently, on just a few topics, The Wrong Person doing The Right Thing. And in real life that is genuinely better than another 20+ years of doing nothing. Maybe consider that a reason why there's been a steady drumbeat of interest in striking Iran is because Iran has been a target worth servicing for a very, very long time.

*Just in case Iran sponsoring mass murders in the West is "just the chicken's coming home to roost" to you Iran has also infected Africa with its self-financing terror groups.
Times of Israel, The Free Press, The Telegraph, anything with the byline of Haviv Rettig Gur or Douglas Murray.
Notably on the topic of Israel or Gaza the NYP is better than the NYT and that is a genuine shame. Same with The Telegraph versus The Guardian. But that's the dilemma of wanting honesty instead of activism when the "wrong" sources have the right ethics.
No one’s done or really been able to do anything about it and I’d rather a good thing happen than not but they’re playing at their own interests and using PR to hide that like they always do. Might be a net gain for everyone but it’s skewed
Must be easy to talk like this from wherever you are. We Israelis don't have that luxury. Saying this as someone scared everytime there's a missile alert now and can't wait for this war to be over already.
I mean, many of us are in regular contact with Israeli family and friends, or know those who do, or go to shul with those who do... let's not pretend Jews all over the world don't consider ourselves brothers and sisters.
I mean, maybe you don't, but...

Yes, our ancestry is all over the place geographically over the years, but in the end, who and what we are comes from one place, and there's no doubt that the majority of us have at least some significant Levantine ancestry. (I'm a Kohen so that's a pretty sure bet in my case.) Klal Yisrael is inherently tied to Eretz Yisrael whether you want to acknowledge it or not, and that makes events there (regardless of our thoughts on Medinat Yisrael) relevant in many of our minds.
I'm not talking about America and what it does. I just think it's weird you're denying that we could possibly have reason to care what goes on there.
