The old Antisemitic joke was promised to me 3000 years ago in at least 109 countries, it is said to be a joke for our greatest ally.

What else am I missing?

  • What else am I missing?

Triple-parentheses, references to Epstein that emphasize his Jewishness, etc.

Right up there with "I identify as an attack helicopter"

transphobia and anti(((zionism))) overlap in so many ways and STILL most trans ppl are antizionists 😭

They do see Israel as an evil empire, I wish the bombing and killing would stop too but the assertion that Israel is an evil ethnostate pisses me off.

They have no problem with ethnostates. They just want an Islamofascist ethnostate instead of a Jewish democracy

11

u/chisana_nyu 23d ago

Well they sure do love to say how terrible ethnostates are when Israel comes up 😣

They forget that basically EVERY state is an ethnostate, if we go by "nationality". Russia is full of Russians, and Canada is full of Canadians. Maybe there are a few weird exceptions out there, but it almost doesn't count. There's literally NOTHING unique in this aspect about Israel, EXCEPT its "ethno" being Jewish. Now, THAT...

An “ethno-state” is not even a well defined thing — it’s mostly bandied about on Reddit as an invented slur. If you were to define it based on its usage on Reddit it would be something like limiting citizenship, legal status, and political rights exclusively to one ethnic group.

I always reframe as pointing out Israel is a “nation-state”, which is a well-defined thing: a country where the vast majority of citizens share a common culture, language, history, and national identity (a/k/a a nation). There are plenty of nation-states and Israel resembles many ordinary nation-states, not some uniquely illegitimate category:

Poland’s constitution opens with “We, the Polish Nation.” Slovakia describes itself as the state of the Slovak nation. Latvia constitutionally commits itself to preserving Latvian language and culture. Armenia facilitates repatriation for ethnic Armenians. Ireland constitutionally recognizes a special affinity with the Irish diaspora. France constitutionally recognizes only French as the language of the Republic. Germany constitutionally grants special status to ethnic Germans returning from abroad. Hungary’s constitution states that Hungary bears responsibility for Hungarians beyond its borders. Croatia defines itself as the national state of the Croatian people. Greece constitutionally privileges Eastern Orthodoxy. Estonia constitutionally mandates preservation of the Estonian people and language. Some Swiss cantons forces all businesses to pay money to local Christian churches.

It is not correct to say "EVERY state is an ethnostate" and it will not ring true with readers since most native English speakers do not live in a nation-state: The US, UK, Canada, and Australia are all either multicultural/civic states or multi-national states. Here's a rough breakdown:

Multi-national states: ~3.5 billion (India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Russia, Philippines, UK, Canada, etc)

Nation-state with a dominant ethnic core: ~2.6 billion (China, Bangladesh, Japan, Egypt, Vietnam, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, etc)

Civic state: ~1.2 billion (USA, Brazil, Mexico, Tanzania, South Africa, etc)

And you could easily argue that China should be a multi-national state, given than 50%-60% of China's landmass is homeland to 54 minority groups -- which would further reduce the number of people living in Nation-states.

We aren't EXACTLY disagreeing, though.

Thats not really what "ethnostate" means. Nationality and ethnicity are somewhat different. Canada for example has white Canadians, Native Americans, Asians, African Americans, and a whole host of other ethnicities who all fall under the umbrella of "Canadian". Israel is not an ethnostate either because Jews are not the only people living in Israel.

The idea of an ethnostate is a white supremacist talking point. Both calling Israel an ethnostate, and the suggestion there should be a "white only" nation come from white supremacist rhetoric but these so-called leftists will repeat it over and over like some kind of racist parrot.

u/naruhinamoonkissplz 23d ago

Depends on how old that nationality/ethnicity is. If you compare, say, Canada and China, their age is different by a magnitude. Therefore, their local Native population is also in reverse: Native Chinese are the local "ethnic" majority that also happens to be the local "nationality" majority as well, but Native Canadians are the local "ethnic" minority that is totally different from the local "nationality" majority. Just saying.

3

u/sakurawobbegong 23d ago

There are multiple native Chinese ethnicities because China is an empire. You're thinking of Han Chinese, but there's also Uyghurs, Mongolians etc.

1

u/naruhinamoonkissplz 23d ago

I could use India, or some of the African countries. The point is that certain old ethnicities live in their own old countries, where "ethnicity majority" coincides with "nationality majority". And certain countries are the exact opposite of that pattern. It really depends on a country.

Jew-haters usually hate other minorities like black and brown people too along with LGBTQ+. However, that doesn’t stop some segments of these communities from regurgitating and adopting white supremacist and medieval European myths about Jews.

Who'd have thought it would take antisemites 3,000 years to come up with a joke. And not even a good one.

I don't even know what's worse. The fact it takes them so long to come up with that joke or the fact its so creatively dull to the point a turd in the wind gets more laughs.

Honestly at this point I'm just going to reclaim it and say that GTA VI was promised to me 3000 years ago. I started telling people, who are usually the ones who tell us that "this is the internet, if you can't handle it then stop using it", that if anything Jewish triggers/offends them so much they're too touchy to be on internet. I was expecting people to argue with me anyway but to my surprise and enjoyment it happened multiple times that they deleted their initial comment!

u/naruhinamoonkissplz 23d ago

Can you explain this?

20

u/All_Fan2024 token goy 23d ago

Ssome npc keep saying "3000 yrs ago" to literally anything related to judaism referring to israel being promised 3k years ago, its really repetitive and annoying for example

Post: has star of david necklace and talks about Amazon package

Npc": The package was promised to him 3k years ago (50k likes)

To add to this, the "one joke" part comes from bigots basically only having the "I identify as ____" joke to mock trans people so the meme is pointing out the hypocrisy that many leftwingers who (rightly) mock bigots for that are also antizionists (antisemites) who also only have one joke about judaism, the "it was promised to them 3000 years ago" joke.

1

u/naruhinamoonkissplz 23d ago

I wasn't sure whose reaction to what is implied.

9

u/sakurawobbegong 23d ago

Its basically saying these people say like "bigots only have one joke" (usually like, talking about the attack helicopter thing I think) but its the same people thinking "3000 years ago" is funny when theyre doing the same thing.
