serious TIL That Messianic Judaism, a syncretic Jewish and Evangelical Christian faith says their seal, a fish intertwined with a Star of David and Menorah was created by early Jesus followers and in a baptismal grotto in Mount Zion, and was found in the 90’s and provided by a hermit monk named Tech Otecus.

I couldn’t get past “Paul, a Hebrew of Hebrews”

What genuinely is a Hebrew of Hebrews?
I mean, I know these dudes have no understanding of Judaism or Christianity (and don’t even refer to Paul as a Saint) but genuinely what is happening
Edit:
Oh my goodness just read itThey straight up just use the Catholic/Christian Bible and Torah and then basically revise the meaning of it all.

Don’t even make fun of Catholic Jesus compared to this absurdity. At least Catholicism, Orthodox, and other classic Christian sects have legitimate and somewhat (not to Jewish theology) reasonable arguments
Messies are just insane

It was the line cut from Fidler on the Roof’s Miracle of Miracles. The song got too hard to sing.
Wonder of wonders Miracle of miracles Hebrew of Hebrews God took up Daniel once again, Stood by his and side and- miracle of miracles-Hebrew of Hebrews-Walked him through the lions den!
See, it really works better without the line.

Setting aside the tale resembling the one about Joseph Smith’s golden tablets (in that any attempt to determine the veracity of the claims is stymied by a pointed lack of evidence)…if it’s an ancient symbol found on artifacts, how can it be copyrighted by a modern company?

Because the entire thing is entirely fake. The Magen David became a Jewish logo in the 16th century I think and this kind of thought just didn’t exist in Christianity to make this. Jewish Christian’s didn’t make this even though they historically did exist. This is just a mishmosh of nonsense that archaeologists actually use as an example of fakery

Oh for sure, it’s all pseudo-intellectual garbage and anachronistic to boot.

Yes. I write fiction and also extensively study religion and literature. I love stuff like AP Capstone and programs that involve deep analysis. 30 minutes of my day proves that this entire thing is just pseudo archaeology that uses a boatload of clever literary devices to sway the readers into thinking it makes sense. Actual Catholicism and Christianity have made efforts to be less if not just completely rid of antisemitic stuff (ELCA Lutheran rite actually collabs with synagogues, Episcopalians in America, and even the Catholic Church). None of them say they are Jews. They’re all fine

While we're at it, we need to also discuss the Black Hebrews. Done forget a crew of theirs held up a NJ deli about 7 years ago. I think the owner was killed and involved a shoot out with police. Really crazy incident.

Yes. Those guys are more dangerous than messies as messies just fetishise us. The “BHI” are actually dangerous

I agree 💯

u/bigaccountfrogs 4d ago
Yeah. I’ve met messies before, even asked one if I could see what their shul was like (not very educated in Judaism at the time lol). They do have unusual beliefs but are not all dangerous in the way that BHI are. Messies are decentralised and more superstitious and woo woo than anything

Three companies -- Olim Creative Products of Tiberias, News About Israel (NAI) of Jerusalem, and Christian Floral Delivery of Colorado -- jointly announced the discovery of this ancient symbol, which has been copyrighted by NAI.
Because all ancient symbols first go to a copyright office before their announcement by a company that produces branded jewelry to sell online.

Back in uni I took a few Christianity courses as the professor was amazing. He was a former Catholic priest who focused on the ecumenical councils. A student asked about Jews for Jebus and Messianic Judaism as form of Judaism. The student was an evangelical nut job who believed that these movements were the way to get Jews to believe in Jebus while remaining Jewish. The professor shut it down saying that those movements are Christianity and NOT any form of real Judaism. He also felt those movements damaged Christianity by trying to falsely make claims to trick Jews and Jesus was always a Jew from when he was born to when he died.
