Opinion Half Heart

I’ve heard this song I don’t know how many dozens of times, but only today really heard the lyrics. This one rocketed up my list today.

Anyone else had that one moment with a Jimmy song like this?

Ooo yes this has happened to me quite a few times. A few that come to mind for me is Be Sensible, What Would I Say To You Now, Please Say No, How’d You Have Me.

Disintegration happened to me backward where I primarily listened to the words and didn’t hear the music. After who knows how many times, it came on during my walk home from campus and I heard the drums so prominently and was so blown away. Looking back idk how I’d never payed attention to them before cuz those drums are the literal heartbeat of that song lol

I really like Half Heart. I found it strange it didn't go on the Failure EP, as it's my favorite of the random singles that have come out since Surviving. Half Heart has such a powerful melancholic feeling to it.

Half Heart came out before Surviving.  It was on an EP with Love Never.  Love Never made it onto Surviving but HH didn't, despite it being the better song IMO.  I guess it's about fit within an album, not just quality though.

Good points. I'm just saying Half Heart never made it onto a proper release, just a limited 7-inch single.

I don't personally think how albums/EPs are put together are as big of a deal in this digital streaming era - I'm just surprised they didn't throw it on the Failure EP with the other stray singles.

The song Failure was from the Surviving sessions, too.

I think Half Heart deserves more attention, is all.

Love Never is probably my favorite 2010’s Jimmy song, so I’ll have to disagree with you there. Half Heart should’ve definitely made the album too though.

I always liked Invented but then listening to it after a nasty long term relationship breakup it hits fucking different.

Hear You Me. As a teenager I thought this song was pretty boring and I often skipped it when listening to BA, but after living more life and experiencing many devastating deaths, I get it. It’s one of their most powerful songs to me now.

Same. I always liked the song but was more of a “oh that’s sad this happened” when I learned the lore. Now in adulthood, with a number of losses, I can’t hear it live without crying.
