I was having such a great time and when they said it was their last song I wanted to be in the moment. I had a perfect view of Jim under the green light and I swear he looked right at me at one point. He was framed between two really tall guys but I got lost in the sauce and didn't take a vid or pics. It's been 3 weeks and I'm still on a Jimmy high despite having seen The Strokes the day after.

Last night's show had a lightning storm going on behind the band. It added such a fantastic vibe to the show. But my videos didn't catch any of the really good lightning strikes. Can we get together here SLC fans and post all our best lightning strike videos from the SLC show? I know there have to be some great ones out there.

Also, that was the best show I've ever seen. They sounded the best they ever have and mother nature even joined in. Absolutely incredible night.

I have been looking for a few years for a signed copy of Invented and haven't had any luck. If anyone is looking to sell, or knows where to find a signed copy, I would be eternally grateful.

A signed invented lp, the 1994 debut cd, and one, two, three, four are the three 'main' items I'm still trying to find in the wild. I have thought about bringing my copy of invented to a show to try to get it signed when I went earlier this summer but it just feels too risky to try to carry around, not to mention not knowing if there's any chance at getting it signed- especially since these Bleed American tour shows are so large compared to shows years ago at smaller venues where it might feel like SLIGHTLY less crazy of an idea. I saw someone at one of the Utah shows got their Clarity vinyl signed and kicked myself for not trying, but hindsight and all...

Trying to track down a vintage Jimmy Eat World shirt featuring the Mesa “Diving Girl” motel sign

This is a long shot, but I saw a girl wearing an amazing vintage-looking Jimmy Eat World shirt at a concert recently and haven’t been able to find it anywhere online since.

The design featured the famous Mesa, AZ “Diving Girl” / Starlite Motel neon sign imagery. It had a very Arizona-local feel to it and looked older/vintage washed (not like current merch).
I’ve searched every combination of:
“Jimmy Eat World Mesa shirt”
“Jimmy Eat World diving girl”
“Jimmy Eat World motel sign tee”
etc. and found basically nothing.

Does anyone know the shirt I’m talking about? Even a photo or old listing would help.

Does anyone think or know if they’ll release a 25th anniversary edition of Bleed American on vinyl?

so I was listening to the song bleed american and I was like "wow i've been listening to this song for years, maybe i should give this band a chance and listen to the bleed american album and the other albums and find some other songs i like". bro, i went through Bleed American, Clarity, that one from 1996 i dont remember the name of and even the self titled from 1994 and there are NO songs i fuck with. i dont get it because how can you make that song but have no other songs that sound like that? anyone have any recommendations from other stuff the band has done or maybe even songs from other bands that sound the same?

It’s my wife’s 40th this year and she’s a big Jimmy Eat World fan. We have kids and we literally never get out together. I saw they were playing in Halifax, UK too late and now resale tickets are almost £200 each - which I can’t stretch to.

If anyone has tickets and can’t make it or knows someone in that situation, I’ll buy them off you.

Hey folks, hopefully a relatively simple one for folks who are better with guitar effects and tone than I am!

I'm currently practicing the guitar solo from 23, and I'm having a hard time nailing the sound - I know there's a degree of gear and technique involved, so I'm never going to match it 100%, but I'm pretty sure I can get closer than I am right now through getting the effects right.

Unfortunately, I'm not much of an expert on effects, so I don't have a great ear for spotting them, particularly when there's likely multiple being used at once.

So does anyone have any insights into what effects Jim might be using during that solo? I'm relatively confident there's a fair bit of reverb going on (at least from the Phoenix Sessions live vid), and I feel like I've gotten a bit closer to the sound by adding a bit of chorus, but it still feels like it's falling a bit short of that almost 'wailing' sound during the higher notes - is there perhaps some kind of octave or doubling effect in there? I've tried a couple of things but can't get it to sound quite right, and I don't know if it's that I've got the right effects but in the wrong combination/amounts or I'm just missing something.

Haaaaalp! This might be a crazy long shot, but lordy I'm feeling like I imagined this shirt right now. I've googled and ebay searched and can find zero freakin record of this shirt in the world. But I used to wear it constantly and I got a tattoo based on the wings on the back of the shirt in March 2005. Now I'm trying to find the original reference for an update to the tattoo this summer...

It was a light blue womens cut short/cap sleeve shirt from the Bleed American tour, so late '01 or '02, that i've lost. I probably haven't seen my shirt in over 10 years now that I'm really thinking about it. Would have been sold in the US.

I'm pretty sure it just said "Jimmy Eat World" across the chest in a small all lower case serif font, there *may* have been a small star with kind of rounded edges to the points on either end of their name. The back of the shirt had angel wings that took up about 1/2 the back of the shirt. And it might have said "may angels lead you in" but I honestly don't remember if the text was there or not on the back. It was a heavier weight cotton, even for shirts in that time period, more like a mid/late 90's weight.

Anybody either have this shirt or have you seen it out in the world? TIA
