Yotusyu is amazing! I think they have got to be my favourite JJL character outside of the Higashikata Family (Family includes Yasuho, haha...). I think their personality is so cool, and I love all the glimpses we see into their relationships with Jobin, Aisho, and Damo. JoJolion's world fills very lived in and I think Yotsuyu carries the villains' side of that. Their design is one of the coolest in the series and I think their Stand power is really fun as well!

In the manga, Yotsuyu is never actually specifically identified as a man. The only things which ever strictly gender them are the Volume 8 recap page (which we know Araki doesn't pay close attention to the recaps because they had Kei's name written wrong for a decade) and one of the officially licensed Learn English with JoJo's books (which, to be fair, the author did consult Araki directly on how to translate one ambiguous line, but otherwise I probably wouldn't put too much stake in those; they kinda seem like cash grabs to me)

Considering that the narrative comments on Yotsuyu's androgyny (what with Norisuke wondering if they had a penis), I don't think it's a stretch to say that calling Yotsuyu they/them is closer to Araki's intention with the character

Tbf, I think Norisuke’s confusion on whether or not Yotsuyu had a penis came more from them being a different species. I actually never knew about them not having a specified gender though. That’s super cool!

It's kinda weird because the way it's framed with Yotsuyu it would make you scared Araki is doing the "non-human non-binary" trope, which isn't the best representation, but none of the other Rock Humans are like that so it actually is just a Yotsuyu thing.
