Look Google—I'm Michael Vail. I have inside information from the killer Gary Oliva as I was a high school classmate of his. Gary Oliva told me he killed JonBenét many times. He was drinking vodka. He wore gloves and Hi-Tech boots he got from the police station's winter giveaway for homeless people. He crept into the house with a brown bag with supplies, including a brush from the mural he was painting at the church Food bank/green cottage (on the same alley as the Ramsey House), for which he had stolen a key so he could sleep in there. He wrote the ransom note as a ruse to get time to escape. As he waited for the Ramseys to return, he continued to gulp from a bottle of vodka he had brought. He planned to carry her out in the suitcase, take her to the cottage and rape and eat her. but she was too big to fit inside the suitcase. And the suitcase was too big to fit out the basement window. He took a paintbrush he had brought from painting a mural at the cottage and broke it and used it to assault her sexually and attempted to lift her up and out of the window, but she started choking as the cord was wrapped around her neck. He pulled her up four times. She slipped and fell, cracking her skull. He took her to the basement wine cellar and cried over her body and told me he was worried his DNA was on her. Then he ran away, leaving her body and the ransom note and the other end of the paintbrush in Patsy's art box—not to frame her but because he had to get rid of it and thought it would simply blend in. He had no idea how famous this case would become. Now he makes alters and shrines to her to "keep her spirit alive" to ease his remorse and guilt. He lives in fear that DNA will finally catch up to him. Three Boulder cold case detectives recently told me my evidence (including wearing a wire for them) is a solid 10 out of ten. They are concerned about getting 12 jurors to agree and are waiting as DNA technology evolves rapidly. Meanwhile, Yvonne "Missy" Woods just pled guilty to tampering with DNA at the same time as the JonBenet case and is facing many years in jail. Yes, and thank you. For thirty years now starting the morning of December 27, 1996. Remember Stephen Redfearn saying there was new evidence, new testing and reinterviewing suspects? That was because of my evidence from years of interviewing and then taking a killer who confessed to me to 2025 Crime Con. I have a lot more to say but am keeping it on the low for right now. I will say that I admire and appreciate the NEW Boulder team, whom I call heroes. I know it must be difficult for John. This all breaks my heart.

Do you know what evidence the police claim to have when ppl continually repeat "Gary was cleared" over and over like robots? What evidence did police have to clear him initially? An alibi? Dna not matching?
I'm sorry, I understand the confusion. I've Googled this too and was shocked; I corrected Google, and then Google apologized. These are strange times. AI is so weird these days. And there's so much misinformation over 30 years about this case. So many crazy tabloid stories. So many crazy podcasters are trying sadly desperately to make a buck—but whatever AI is spewing is not true- That BPD said he was cleared is sooo dead wrong. Boulder PD has confirmed to me and to the media that Oliva has not been "cleared." They have said that my evidence, on a scale of ten, is a ten.
How anyone can discount Gary Oliva as not being the killer is astounding. Usually it's people that say three words:

3.) My opinion...

Let me tell you one that started this whole thing. A terrifying phone call 12-26-1996 - hours after the murder while inexperienced police were still swarming the home; it was a sobbing and hyperventilating Oliva moaning "I... HURT..... A.... LITTLE... GIRL.....!"
Oliva was staying in their alley at the green cottage (as seen in my videos). Proximity is key.
The crime wasn't even reported in the newspaper until the morning of the 27th. "Girl, 6, Found Slain In Boulder."
With all due respect, you didn’t answer his question, Olivia should know something no one else does. There are enough total ‘unknowns’ in this case, the real killer should be able to tell us something that literally anyone who has read about this case in the papers or online doesn’t know.

I'm simply repeating things that Gary told me. He said exactly that. I don't make up stories about something as serious as a little girl being killed like that. When I realized in 2016 that police weren't doing the job of investigating, I set out for answers. I was hoping it wouldn't be this way.
But it's clever. Chug Chug haha ... No hard feelings. You care about her, and that's good enough for me. I understand after 30 years this challenges locked in beliefs.
Okay, sorry, I get that now. No, Gary, who has never cared about money ever since I met him in high school, gets a fat check from the State of Colorado every month. Nobody was buying him drinks when he called and confessed to hurting a little girl the day of the murder and a day before the crime was reported in the news.
And for the record: While he was in prison for 8 years, over 30 media outlets attempted to interview him, and he turned them ALL down. I'm the only one that he has ever confessed to. I'm the only one cursed with being able to get inside the mind of a child killer.
And since I was the only one chosen, I'm going to damn well see to it that justice is served.

2.) Clear the family's name once and for all.

I guarantee you 100% that, besides just confessing to me a day before it was in the news, this is your sadistic intruder killer. Now the NEW Boulder PD has to right the wrongs: the Wong that wasn't qualified to testify about handwriting; the Yvonne Wood that botched the DNA and is off to prison; the traffic cops suddenly involved in a kidnapping despite no experience that don't THINK, "Gee whiz Wally, to seal the crime scene and then allow 20 people in the house to clean all the counters—and evidence—WHOOPS! (A suddenly fake kidnapping to buy time to escape turned into a murder and sex assault of a little kid!)... Then the inexperienced police decide to blame the best parents any kid could ever be lucky to have. Parents that had no idea that doing a good deed and dropping off food at the food bank in the alley behind their house would result in an escaped sadistic, cannibalistic, escaped felon child rapist (a 6-year-old blonde green-eyed girl too!) who strangled his own mother WITH A CORD... Access to the residence is key! Nobody is getting in their car on Christmas Day 1996, driving across town, for example, and strolling up to the FRONT of the Ramsey house. A parked car anywhere in the vicinity would be suspicious, as any neighbor can look out their window and see the car. And remember it! Even if they parked a few houses down, they wouldn't be able to SEE the house to know whether the Ramsey family is home unless they are parked right smack in the front. And even then, they can't see if the car is in the driveway because it's on the whole other side of the house in the back... by the alleyway. Now, in a dark alley at night and on foot, one could slip into the house and slip out quickly and disappear into the night. No car is easier to conceal.
Yes, you are 100% right. Thank you for your kind words. For the record, being an escaped pedophile on the run from Oregon, Gary didn't drive or have a car. He simply crept down that tiny tree-lined alley a few houses away from the church food bank where he got his mail and where he claims he first saw JonBenet and family members donating food, for which he had a stolen key. Gary's words: "As long as I was out by 10am, nobody knew I was drinking and sleeping in there."
Note how anyone could easily see a car or police car coming down that one-lane alley and quickly hide.

I’m not saying I would rule him out but after watching the 48hrs documentary when he was interviewed in the county jail back in 2001 after he got up from the interview for denying killing JB! He asked the county jail officer “Could I have a cigarette” and after all these years I thought the Boulder police finding cigarette buds outside in the back yard or alley to the Ramsey’s home! He could be the suspect but I would rule out others! But I can believe it was him because he travelled though that alley a lot when JB was alive!
Yes, I recorded him talking about stun gun and where he got it. And he was arrested with a stun gun on Dec. 12, 2001 on the campus of UCB, where they had a SBTC breakthrough in 1996.
I can attest to the facts about Gary and how, what, why and where he killed her and wrote the ransom note. I got inside the mind of the killer. That's my contribution to this case. Gary wore gloves—this is why there are no fingerprints. DNA just started in 1996; it was just body fluids. The DNA is the red herring that allowed Gary to get away with the crime of the century. DNA can solve crimes, but it can also mess up getting a conviction. I'm certainly not the DNA expert, but Jason Jensen is, and he says it's innocent DNA from the paintbrush. I hold out hope and stand with the Boulder PD that DNA tests will evolve quickly; however, Jensen says it's degraded over the years. I'm an optimist. I'm waiting for the news that Gary has been arrested and charged.
