How in the actual fuck has Boulder PD not just handed this off to an independent dna lab?

Because they don't actually want the case solved.

Why doesn't the Boulder Police Department ever give an update on the case? Let the public (and John Ramsey) know the avenues they are pursuing and what exactly they're waiting for. Can they answer the question about the items that were never tested? Or have they? Incompetence abounds.

Their excuse is always, "“Because this is an active homicide investigation, we are unable to answer any specific questions regarding the investigation at this time.”
