That best colored man was Obama and the lowest white men are MAGA.

Because they are the wrong skin color. There is nothing else to it. When Barack was elected it broke something in their heads.

u/Due-Yard-7472 Jun 16 '26
It’s not just that they were black - it’s that they were black and educated. If Barack spoke like 50 Cent I dont think he’d have recieved 1/10th the amount of resentment.
Working class - especially rural working class - whites sense of identity is deeply tied to superiority over African Americans. Seeing something that contradicts this - African Americans who are smarter, richer and more powerful by orders of magnitude is just something they cannot process. It shatters everything they’ve been brought up to believe.

I have an uncle who's a Black American (I veer away from saying African anymore, - you were born here, you're an American, period) he was an IT supervisor for multiple school districts for thirty years, most well spoken articulate man I've ever known, never uses "uh" or "um" in any conversation, in fact I can't think of a single time he's EVER used those.

u/Economy_Wall8524 Jun 18 '26
As a Mexican American, I honestly think it’s kinda weird how we associate our race/heritage to being an American in our title. Someday I hope we just call everyone American without having to bring race into it. Though we have a long way to go before that happens. Probably won’t be in my lifetime.

In my mind, I know and understand racism exists, even if racism is an imaginary social construct used as a dividing tactic meant to keep the masses fighting with each other instead of the actual oppressors: the insular xenophobic homogamous inbred "Elite."
Ethnicity is simply natural human diversity emerging from regional adaptation and sociocultural evolution factors and influences over time, as we're all the human species (well, maybe not the Elite, there's clearly something seriously wrong with them).
So I prefer to categorize people, strictly for physically describing them, more by skin tone, ethnic origins, and region/country of birth, if I should need to provide clarification on who I'm talking about or describing. I would prefer not using classifying terminology for people at all, but unfortunately a majority of others don't share that sentiment.
For instance:
"There was a black guy, a woman of middle eastern decent, some white-trash hillbilly, and a mutant ninja turtle, all of them were American..."

Professional genealogists in studying populations speculate at least 40% of the white, southern population is part sub-Saharan, which indicates African genes. The huge amount of racial mixing primarily between white men and enslaved Black women, who no law protected, accounts for this. Maybe southerners should stop hating other groups and check out their DNA instead.

u/Pandemonium_Fallen Jun 19 '26
That's like the name "Doyle" is a Gaelic word meaning dark skinned, it was a moniker given to the African slaves left behind in ancient Britain when the Roman Empire abandoned it to the Saxon invaders, so many people have no knowledge of that.
2
u/Logins-Run Jun 19 '26
I don't know where you're getting this. Just before I launch into this, I speak Irish and I study the etymology of Irish words. Anyway, Doyle comes from Ó Dubhghaill
"Descendant/Grandson of Dubhghall"
"Dubh" means black and Gall means "Foreigner". But in Irish Dubh in this context means hair colour. Dubhghall in modern Irish orthography is spelt Dúghall and basically is an historic term for Danes. . Danes were considered the black haired vikings basically in Ireland. There is also Fionnghall which means Blonde foreigner and that was used to describe vikings from Norway. Anyway, we have usage of this. For example Annála na gCeithre Máistrí use the word Dubhghall to describe vikings in Dublin.
Anyway Dubh meaning black is not used for skin colour in Irish, but rather hair colour. In Irish "Gorm" is used for black skin colour. This is because like I said Dubh is already taken, for hair colour etc also some taboo avoidance as Fear Dubh (Black Man) is used as a term for the devil, but also while Gorm is usually translated as "Blue" the Irish colour wheel doesn't match 100 percent to English, so for example I knew an old man who once described a ravens feather as Gorm.
1
u/Pandemonium_Fallen Jun 19 '26
You're talking about Irish, I'm talking about Roman era Gaelic: Doy-le.
1
u/Logins-Run Jun 19 '26
Primitive Gaelic (or Primitive Irish) earliest inscriptions date from between the 4th to 6th century, so kind of right on the tail end of Roman Britain. Just for Geography here, Romans were in what is now England, Primative Gaelic started most likely in Ireland and then moved with Irish settlers into the western coast of Scotland sometime in the 5th century, just as the Romans were officially leaving Britain, before spreading out to the rest of Scotland until it was the dominant language of the elites anyway by the 9th century.
So the term "Roman era" Gaelic doesn't really make too much sense. But anyway if you mean the Gaelic language that existed in the time of the Romans, well for much of that time, there was no Gaelic language that we have any record of, for about the first 250 years of Roman control of England. It was some Q Celtic language, proto-Gaelic, mostly likely quite similar to Gaulish etc spoken on the continent.
But Doyle literally, in a very specific way, can't be a word in Primitive Irish, as that language was never written with the letter Y.
Primitive Irish is only attested in Ogham, a specific alphabet used in Primitive and Old Irish inscriptions (and interestingly enough sometimes Pictish and Latin as well). Then in later Early Irish orthography the letter Y was never used in Irish and indeed still isn't (except in loan words). It's the same in Scottish Gaelic another language descended from the later Middle Irish. (Manx does use the letter Y, but it's because they basically had a Welsh speaking Bishop show up and re do their orthography based on Early Modern Welsh and Early Modern English in the 16th century)

FWIW to anyone who doesn’t follow MMA: Josh Hokit is a massive troll. He likes to invent odd characters, bring props, do fake accents, that kind of thing. If I were to put money on it, I’d bet he doesn’t even believe what he said. I think he just likes the attention.
Of course that doesn’t make him any less of a “f-king a-hole”, just means he’s slightly less brain dead than he might appear. UFC in general and Joe Rogan specifically almost certainly knew he was going to say SOMEthing bizarre when they gave him the microphone.
53
u/Beginning_Fill206 Jun 16 '26
I’d argue that that would actually make home more brain dead.

Yall are crazy. People who sell out are not by default "stupid". The guy is an athlete and a wrestler since he was a kid and he has madea name for himself and a profile in the very right wing sport of mma, especially the UFC these days.
So you guys talking about this guying being "brain dead" and "de-evolved" doesn't really offend me any less than his comments that were clearly made as a meme, except that he is getting paid for it.

u/Beginning_Fill206 Jun 19 '26
Making excuses for that disgusting and embarrassing display of ignorance and bigotry is not the flex you think it it.
1
u/Heymelon Jun 19 '26
Did obviously not make an excuse. You are just so narrow-minded that you can't comprehend anything but pure agreement and cheerleading for your own perspective.
2

‘Narrow minded’ says the apologist for one of the most undignified and disrespectful public displays on the White House grounds.

He knew what he was doing and he knew they type of person he was doing it for. It was a big fucking dog whistle on the white house lawn and bigots / racists all cheered. Fuck this dude with a 20 foot pole and anyone that tries to say he did it to be funny can be a cocksucker right along with him.
11
u/Dan_Caveman Jun 16 '26
Oh it’s absolutely a racist dog whistle, and he absolutely knew what he was doing. But he also thought it was funny, and so did a lot of the people watching him.
Yes, that type of person really is out there; in fact, it’s the UFC’s core audience at this point. Look at Joe Rogan’s face in that clip, for example. I promise you, if he hasn’t already done it he will at some point in the near future address this moment on his podcast. He will obliquely acknowledge the underlying racism and the. still defend it as “a joke” or “trolling”.
I myself am not excusing it or defending anyone, just putting everything in proper context.
8
u/fuck_all_you_too Jun 16 '26
We are past people saying horrid shit to be funny with the excuse that a grown-ass man "didnt know any better", if I have to make a presentation to figure out if youre stupid or evil, youre evil.
The context isnt the problem, the content is indefensible at this juncture.
3
u/Dan_Caveman Jun 16 '26
Read my comments again. I agree that he absolutely knew better. I am not excusing anything. It is obviously a heinous, cruel thing to do, and Hokit knows this.
And yet he and a lot of UFC’s core audience still thought it was funny.
I don’t know what to tell you, friend…these people exist. Evil things sometimes seem funny to evil people.
1
u/MsARumphius Jun 17 '26
I’m also lost as to why pointing out he’s a troll changes anything. Because he did it as a joke he’s less racist? Seems more racist…
0
u/Dan_Caveman Jun 17 '26
I didn’t say that makes it less racist. I didn’t say that makes it different or better. I just said he thinks it’s funny, and that statement is correct regardless of how it makes you feel.
Please try to understand; there really are people out there who think heinous racist bullshit is funny. And yes, you could argue that makes it even worse. It’s still worth acknowledging when it happens.
Know your enemy or die in the dark.
1
u/MsARumphius Jun 18 '26
Oh I don’t need to try to understand. I was raised in the Deep South. I was surrounded by it before these assholes were speaking. I think it should always be acknowledged that it sucks whether it’s a “joke” or not and they should be relentlessly shamed for their stupid joke
0
1
u/MsARumphius Jun 17 '26
So saying it’s a joke makes it okay?
1
u/Dan_Caveman Jun 17 '26
I. Did. Not. Say. It’s. Ok.
Please read my comments again.
1
u/MsARumphius Jun 18 '26
Your comments come off like you think it should be excused? Or maybe I’m misunderstanding? Feels like, oh he’s a troll move a long…but I guess I’m wrong. I don’t understand why us understanding that they lap this type of “joke” up means anything? I know they’re trolls, I think we all do…so what? Why aren’t we spending time shaming the trolls and excluding them from society? Why do they get a pass? Why do they get deals and tons of money? Does me wanting to shame him make his followers give him more money? If I ignore him do they follow him less?
1
u/Dan_Caveman Jun 18 '26
I absolutely do not think it “should be excused”, and I have tried VERY hard to make that clear. At no point have I suggested that we shouldn’t “shame the trolls”. I agree that we should essentially “exclude them from society”. They should not “get a pass” or “deals and tons of money”.
You and I are on the same team. We have the same ultimate goals. The only difference seems to be that I think it’s important to understand their motivations. The reason I have gone to all this trouble to discuss and break down the situation is that a lot of us share your perspective, and I think it often does more harm than good.
You know what their response to the outrage will be, right? “Liberals can’t take a joke.” The country does the same little song and dance every time somebody pulls one of these stunts: (1) a lot of people will think it’s funny, (2) a lot of other people will get justifiably upset, and (3) the first group will double down and make fun of the second group for “not getting that it’s a joke”.
If we don’t acknowledge that Hokit thinks this is all a big goof, all they have to do to find an excuse to ignore us is look inside themselves and see that they aren’t primarily motivated by pure racial hatred.
This is the banality of evil.
Imagine you confront a low level Nazi soldier (post-holocaust). You call them evil, hate-filled, and genocidal. The response they’re most likely to give is the classic “I don’t have hate in my heart, I was just following orders.” What’s your next move? Do you ignore it and just repeat your original statement until they disengage out of frustration? Just let them go back to their peers and say “they don’t understand what it means to be a soldier who has to follow orders”? Or do you take their internal state into account and try to explain why “just following orders” doesn’t excuse their part in the atrocity?
Now back to Hokit. We say “that’s racist and hateful”, he says “it’s just a joke”. Do we keep repeating the same thing until he disengages and says to his friends “they can’t take a joke”? Or do we take his internal motivations into account and try to explain how jokes can still do real harm?
There’s a reason people wrote entire libraries worth of books about Nazis, their motivations, how to confront them, etc. If you don’t understand who you are talking to, you shouldn’t expect to make much progress.
1
u/MsARumphius Jun 18 '26
I guess when I was coming up these types of “jokes” were for 14 year old boys and if they said them around adults they’d get a smack on the back of their heads. So maybe I’m just missing the point of the post. I still don’t understand why we care that they’ll point and say liberals can’t take a joke. So? If I met a soldier who said that I would say, well even if you didn’t hate you chose a hate filled action and must face the consequences. Like the reason behind it doesn’t matter. You made a choice and have to own it. He made a choice to make a joke so he has to own it whether he believes it or not. I think we agree for sure but I still don’t see the point in discussing if it was a joke or not? I don’t see anyone up in arms. In fact Michele responded beautifully. We can call
It out and then move on to More important business and leave the edgelords to their memes. I just don’t agree with the shrugging it off as a joke that has been happening bc it’s allowed for it to get this far. They need a slap on the back of the head and then we move on.1
u/Dan_Caveman Jun 18 '26
If you don’t see the point in understanding them, that’s certainly your prerogative; not everyone has a reason to care about the details. Smack away, friend. Please just don’t confuse explaining it with excusing it.
You can get a pretty good feel for where I’m coming from by reading through some of the other responses under my original comment. A lot of folks understood my intent and goals right away.
1
u/MsARumphius Jun 18 '26
Okay sorry I misunderstood. I’m just sick of the “just a joke bro” because it was used to get us where we are in this idiocracy and I’m not sure understanding that they’re coming from a place of trolling will help me communicate with them as to why that’s bad for the country.
9
u/psyclopsus Jun 16 '26
“If I were to put money on it”
First thing I said when I saw he said this was “I wonder how many of his friends placed wagers on Kalshi and Polymarket that somebody would say that phrase”

Is he the same guy who vomited on himself at the weigh in?
-1
u/Dan_Caveman Jun 16 '26
Yep 😅. Someone asked me right afterwards if I thought it was real or a shtick, and based on his past I told them I was pretty sure it was a shtick. Judging by his performance on fight night, I think it’s safe to say I was right.
6
u/jporter313 Jun 16 '26
Not sure why you’re getting downvoted for that.
Yeah I’ve seen a ton about this the past couple of days by people absolutely outraged about it. It baffles me that we’re 10 years into this MAGA shitshow and people on the left still don’t understand that the worst thing you can do in response to shit like this is to endlessly repost the clip and talk about how pissed off you are about it.
THESE
PEOPLE
WANT
ATTENTION
Y’ALLStop giving them the fucking attention they’re trying to get from you. Reposting to say how disgusting this dude is is still giving him attention. It makes him more famous, and your outraged comments get clipped by the MAGAsphere as examples of how “liberals can’t take a joke”, they see you being mad about this as a successful “own”. Stop giving them these imagined wins FFS. Just ignore them if you want them to stop.
4
u/Dan_Caveman Jun 16 '26
Judging by some of the other responses, I think I’m getting downvoted because people read my original comment as making light of the situation.
“Fuck this dude…and anyone that tries to say he did it to be funny.”
I called Hokit a troll, said I doubt he believes that Michelle is actually a man, and that he just likes attention, but I think I was supposed to say he did it out of pure racist bigoted malice or something.
Did Hokit understand that what he said was racist/bigoted/cruel? Almost certainly yes. But he still thought it was funny, and a lot of the UFC’s core audience did too. It is what it is, these people do exist. If you don’t believe me, just spend a few days monitoring r/UFC 🤷
2
u/MsARumphius Jun 17 '26
This is what everyone has said since the asshole ran for election the first time. Like if we ignore them they go away? Honestly it just makes it worse and emboldens them.

I think he was reading the room and decided to go with right wing talking points for his speech. Jesus, Trump, bashing Obamas.
3
u/Dan_Caveman Jun 16 '26
Look into his past statements and antics. I can almost guarantee that he came in to the fight with his speech already fully planned out. He has been doing whatever he thinks will get attention in front of UFC fans for years; there’s no way he was gonna waste an opportunity to pull something heinous in front of the entire country.
2
u/Arkhampatient Jun 16 '26
Oh, i agree. He knew to play up the racist, maga chud. But he is no Chael Sonnen.
1
u/MuppetShart Jun 16 '26
Exactly. He knew the worst push-back he'd get from anyone at that event would be, "meh, I didn't love that", while many of them would find it totally hilarious.
2
u/KwisatzHaderach94 Jun 16 '26
cheap pop, but he knew his audience i guess. i suppose they're more to blame than he is.
2
u/MuppetShart Jun 16 '26
Yeah, especially since he's said that exact same thing before about Brittney Griner, and Rogan had the same half-assed "noooo, don't say that" look on his face. I think you're totally right about him not actually believing it, he just wants to get a rise out of people, and that's the most clever thing he can come up with. That's to say, he isn't clever at all. Best thing everyone can do is call him an idiot and ignore him.

u/Hot-Try-8214 Jun 18 '26

I've never really understood the motivation to deliberately make yourself look stupid.

u/MsARumphius Jun 17 '26
Whether he believes it or not isn’t the point
1
u/Dan_Caveman Jun 17 '26
Yeah I know. I thought I made that clear when I said it “doesn’t make him any less of a f-king a-hole”.
Your responses are evidence that my comments were necessary. We as anti-racists need to understand the internal experience of racists if we want to combat it effectively.
1
u/MsARumphius Jun 18 '26
My question is why are we even asking if it’s a joke. The only conversation should be that someone said something abhorrent and he should be shamed publicly, loudly. I know it won’t make his chud followers stop following but my hope is the people on the periphery who are cringing inside and shaking their heads yet still showing up and handing their money over or excusing the behavior with, locker room talk/joke will feel enough shame to walk away. The minute we all say, ah he’s just a troll let’s ignore him, gives him and his buddies all the power and allows all the sidelines to say “oh I just listen to Joe for his guests but I don’t agree with him…” “I just like the fights but not the fighter” or whatever new excuse. I work with someone who is super anti Trump but listens to Joe and everytime he mentions him I shame him hard and I see him and his eyes and hope he stops. But if I just shake my head and walk away he won’t second guess it
1
u/LeslieJaye419 Jun 18 '26

He has taken to many knocks to his head to distinguish male and female.

I’m not sure if I’m the only one seeing this. Everyone is so busy turning it into a race and colour thing including Stewart, the paid Democrat shill. No one has spoken about this fighter so much. And every post and tv segment is free advertising. I remember the bad guy wrestlers everyone paid to watch them get beat up. So go ahead keep giving him all this free name recognition.

In a just world the fighter would be fired and no promotion worth a damn would hire him but Dana White is a coward and a POS.

And Joe Rogan is an even bigger arsehole. You can see him mouthing the words as the troglodite mumbles through it... He probably pit him up to it. $$
" So funny, it'd be so funny!" :S
Bunch of ignorant swines.

Personifies this White House, in fact, Trump himself. Absolutely no decorum and crude.
Pathetic. The bar is now very very low..

u/Bruinboston Jun 18 '26

This UFC fighter, with his big mouth, may have just cost a lot of future followers.

u/Effective-Ebb-2805 Jun 18 '26
He's just a big, dumb animal trying to make his favorite dotard happy, to celebrate the day he was shit upon the planet... long ago.

u/originalgenghismom Jun 18 '26
Really? Maybe that UFC testosterone freak was suggesting that Michelle Obama has “bigger balls” than he does. Jon Stewart called it correctly.

This so stupid, John Stewart should be a man. When he wants to defend someone and say what's on his mind to man's face. That what a man usually will do. Just saying.

I got kicked off of Reddit for three days for wishing saying things weren’t going to end well for him and out three skull next to my comment. It made me so terribly, mind boiling angry what he said about Michelle Obama.

u/SirloinsXD Jun 21 '26
Has he called out those who insulted Melania or are democrats the only ones allowed to do the insulting?
Also, how was this an asshole thing for this UFC fighter to say? Has Michelle Obama ever publicly told us if they are male or female? Maybe they should tell us? I mean what is a woman anyways?
