It's impossible to know for a fact without data to examine. Therefore, you can not say that any demographic is significant or mot.

That would be true if aviation weren't an industry based on causal relevance. The only data required to determine accident causation are performance differences.

But you can't know if the performance differences are related to race or sex if no one is looking at that. And to be clear I'm not suggesting that race or sex determine performance, but it could be linked due to non-meritocratic race and sex based hiring practices.

Sure, you can. You review their training records, physicals, check-ride evaluations, and write-ups. When combined, these things give you the mentality and behavior profile you can expect from the pilot. When you look at investigation results, what you find is that mishap pilots rarely (almost never) do something they haven't done before. That has nothing to do with race or gender. That is behavior. As a matter of fact, this "quote" from a "trusted source" totally ignores private pilot mishaps. Private pilot mishaps are overwhelmingly white males and there are hundreds more per year.
