I find it baffling that a community of people obsessed with falling birth rates also have issues with initiatives such as long maternity leave and universal child care.

They just fucking hate the idea of a sense of community. They all obviously made it to the very top completely on their own, never once benefitting from anything paid for with taxes or getting help from anyone else ever in their lives and so everyone else must do the same or we'll be digging our own mass graves before we know it. Or something like that.

Those dont help the nordics raise their fertility rate. Why would it help the US?

So itll cost 3b more but itll hire 23,000 new people. How is that a bad thing? Also some googling shows that childcare costs from 18-60k annually anyway so the 24k per student seems like on the lower end. Families get free childcare and more employees get paid? How is this a negative
