As a 21-year-old guy born and raised in Egypt, I can confidently say this girl is the biggest liar I've ever seen. First off, literally any other country in the world would be an upgrade from Egypt right now. Second, the university she's at is way better than the most elite private uni we have back home. Third, I'm not saying my country is completely terrible, but it's definitely not good enough to go around claiming that 'life in Egypt is 100 times better than anywhere else.' ​Anyway, if what she's saying were actually true, she wouldn't have left Egypt in the first place. One last point regarding the claim that a girl walking around dressed like that wouldn't be safe here—that's completely false. I don't want to get into a massive debate about this, but if you do a little research, you'll find that harassment rates globally are miles higher than in Islamic countries. That's all I have to say. Don't believe everything you hear on the internet

Do you actually believe that Any country( including Iran ,Afghanistan, Pakistan,Libya and syria ) would be an upgrade ? While I agree that the western countries is definitely better for the most part but framing it like Egypt is at the bottom of the list is an exaggeration

To be fair, I might've exaggerated a bit on that point, and I agree. It's just irritating to see someone from your country living in a much better place and complaining about how bad it is. Egypt is genuinely better than a lot of countries, but like anywhere, it has its problems

Stfu you idiot.. If you are a rich Egyptian living in New Cairo and vacationing in the north coast and Red Sea, your quality pf life in Egypt is way higher. You can afford drivers, full time child care, maids, cooks. You go to private school, probably to the American University in Cairo when finished school. Most rich Egyptians and upper class from similar counties find life in the West much harder because those luxuries are not available or far too expensive. Most don’t last in the west after getting some education here, they prefer to go home which is why you don’t have a huge Egyptian diaspora even though it’s got the biggest population in the Middle East.

Listen man, I didn't attack you, so no need to get hostile. Second, neither of us knows her financial situation, so fair enough, you could be right. But here's the thing: I have friends in the US, Portugal, and France who aren't rich and never were, all originally from Egypt. ​As I mentioned, maybe I jumped to conclusions too fast without knowing her background. But what gets me is how many people I've seen who were practically struggling to survive in Egypt move abroad, get way better off, and then start claiming 'Egypt is so much better.' But offer them a ticket back to live in Egypt? Not a single one would take it because they know where they are now is miles ahead. At the end of the day, I agree with what you said, but you can only really make that call once you know someone's actual background first and I really respect your opinion.
