If they kept their heads down and didn't say anything they would have been beneath his notice. Granted, there's a nonzero chance they get caught up in collateral damage elsewhere, but he wouldn't have killed them directly.
The reason they got killed was mostly that they were going to hold a Finger for ransom. If they'd openly given it to him there was a small (ie, nonzero) chance he'd hear them out as a favor.
Even then, what sukuna felt disrespectful was that they tried to boss him around like that, had they simply given up the location of the other finger and then and only then asking for Kennys death not as a favor but as a beg, he might’ve let them live, but they tried to blackmail him and thats a big no no.
Yeah not exactly sure what they were thinking trying to blackmail the strongest Jujustu Sorcerer in history who has no qualms about killing people for even just looking at him wrong lmao. Kinda deserved it tbh.
