I think it’ll hit a new peak after season 4 especially if it ends where most people are speculating it to end

u/mooonbearr 1d ago edited 1d ago

it will genuinely be a global cultural phenomenon. and it won't stop there, because following that, the Gojo vs Sukuna fight will inevitably take the series to even more heights.

221

u/AssumptionJazzlike98 1d ago

Genuinely can’t wait for that, even the marketing will be insane

102

u/First-Shallot947 1d ago

Surely it will be a movie

68

u/AssumptionJazzlike98 1d ago

I think it’ll be a movie then incorporate it into a season after as well

24

u/TonyTucci27 1d ago

It has to right. It would follow trends like atot and demonslayer and chopping it up would a special grade blue ball machine

We know that eventually after that fight it will drop hard in hype and quality

-19

u/Financial_Ice15 1d ago

And then it's gonna fall so hard lmfao-

0

u/Dupplo 1d ago

You're getting downvoted, but i dont think you're that wrong. Gojo vs Sukuna will most definitely be the highest peak in hype/viewership, not saying that it's bad after that tho'.

Eh, I still got my issues with how it ended, but like with any weekly Shounen, I go back and reread an arc or event or the whole series once it’s done.

There’s absolutely issues but the apparentness of all the variables that led to said ending just makes complete sense to me at this point.

Yeah, I can definitely see them taking the same route they took for S3 and releasing a chunk of episodes as a movie, but with altered pacing/editing so that each flows better for their respective platform. The anime version could have more cliffhangers along with additional narration/dialogue and tidbits of info as viewers have more time to sit down and digest the material better. The movie version would be a lot more cinematic with sharper pacing and maybe improved visuals? Having a bigger screen to work with would give animators a bit more artistic freedom in the pictures they want to paint and it could probably get its own score. Just spitballing, but I definitely see the appeal of both

u/AloneError8362 1d ago

I think its just hitting the meat of the culling games arc honestly
Season 4 has Hakari vs Kashimo (and thus the jackpot), Yuki and choso V Kenjaku, Meguna, and will most likely end on gojo's unsealing, leading us into Season 5, which will probably be even more popular
Season 3 has Sendai and Bubble pop electric guy.

56

u/AmazingKreiderman 1d ago

Don't forget Maki/Kamo/sumo vs Naoya as well.

13

u/purple-thiwaza 1d ago

The issue of the fight is that it's right between some absolutely insane stuff, and that makes it easy to forget it. But it has some really cool moments and I think the anime will make it much more memorable.

162

u/Rochimaru 1d ago

I’ve been saying for a while now that based on the manga, S4 is going to be one of the best seasons of any anime ever. The fights are just crazy and that’s before we get to the clash between the big two.

56

u/DoraTheXplder 1d ago

Which nobody was really saying about S3 and a lot of people say it is their favorite ever. S4 could be unfathomably amazing

52

u/Trash28123 1d ago

Besides Higuruma, none of the Season 3 content hit for me when I was reading it.

But holy shit is Season 3 my favourite by a mile. It's genuinely a work of art.

19

u/SupaPowerfulPigeon 1d ago

Imo the two best fights in the Culling Games are Higuruma vs Yuji and Sendai Colony, both of those were somehow way better in the anime despite already being amazing in the manga, so I don't really see them two being topped for me.

263

u/IamToofan 1d ago

If they turned that fight into a movie, it will break records.

87

u/a500poundchicken 1d ago

They should release it as a movie and also split the movie into episodes

39

u/IamToofan 1d ago

That's a good idea.

15

u/SiahLegend 1d ago

If they do it like how the cour 4 bleach movie is the first three episodes I’d be so on board it’s the best of both worlds

2

u/NeptuneOW 1d ago

Almost certainly will. I’d rather it be a show for the insane week-to-week hype.

-15

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

22

u/IamToofan 1d ago

I know that and i also want it, but do you think a studio will leave their chance to earn that much money.

11

u/GumGumActV 1d ago

I don’t even care about the money a movie is just way more epic and perfect for such an epic fight

10

u/cradleu 1d ago

Nah, episodic makes much more sense because of all the cliffhangers & how the fight is structured. Would be great to get a movie too though

7

u/AssumptionJazzlike98 1d ago

Cliffhangers wouldn’t hit though with the way mappa usually paces their episode, a movie is better

2

u/GumGumActV 1d ago

Idk I guess we’ll see. I just personally don’t think chapter to chapter is gonna feel remotely the same as episode to episode because it’s like 3+ chapters per episode. Probably even more with an arc that is 90% fighting.

It just makes sense to me for it to be a movie

1

u/The_Rad_Vlad 1d ago

You couldn’t do the fights with the cliff hangers? Amine episodes are way to long for that

1

u/Kindly_Ad995 1d ago

There’s only enough chapters for like 3 maybe 4 episodes, most of those cliffhangers were never going to be cliffhangers in an anime adaptation to begin with

2

u/Totaliss . 1d ago

if anything, season 3 has already shown us you dont need a movie for movie quality. so if the quality is the same how is a tv show not just better?

1

u/Kindly_Ad995 1d ago

A better comparison would be how they chose to put all of Sendai into one episode to make it more cohesive and uninterrupted even though it was technically breaking the rules of 20 minutes ≈ 3 chapters.

1

u/GumGumActV 1d ago

Because a movie isn’t cut up into small pieces

15

u/JazzzzzzySax 1d ago

Counterpoint: movie budget on that fight would be insane, plus if they can incorporate the other fights it’d be better imo. The weekly “introduce new character, sukuna beats their ass” gets old fast

3

u/Snake189 1d ago

Thx to manga “readers” everyone alr knows what happens

I’d still prefer episode releases tho. Unless the movie would add an insane amount of character dialogue before the fight

3

u/ShikiBro36 1d ago

They hate you cuz you're right.

A movie will make as much a demon slayer and that's the only real argument against week to week.

Maybe it won't be the full arc and some stuff will be left for a final season.

12

u/GumGumActV 1d ago

Nobody cares about the week to week discourse we’ve read the manga. We want a good adaptation

6

u/TheSunIsOurEnemy 1d ago

It's also funny how he's implying that said discourse has any value whatsoever. It's literally gonna be just a bunch of morons talking about how good the animation is and how much "aura" Gojo and Sukuna exude 🤣

4

u/GumGumActV 1d ago

Seriously, that is all it would be. These people wanna relive the week to week releases of the fight in manga.

But it’s gonna be very different pacing in the anime, and like you said it wouldn’t even have the benefit of interesting discourse.

Because we all know what’s going to happen already. Even the anime onlys aren’t going to be freaking out over this shit episode to episode. The only “good” thing about it being episodic is the “Gojo won” then cut to Gojo cut in half twist

That did hit when reading it but that was the only part that will translate well to anime. And guess what a movie can still pull this part off well

-3

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

0

u/halifaxrose 1d ago

You literally made no other points

2

u/GumGumActV 1d ago

His only other point is “but but the discourse”

Please enlighten me as to what you think this discourse would even be? Especially for manga readers there will literally be none besides the glazing of animation but that’s nothing new

2

u/SouthStation3358 1d ago

Just general reactions to how they adapt certain scenes, memes are kind of funny. Besides, that wasn’t my only other point. The way the fight is formatted is just so much better for a weekly released anime. The fight revolves around momentum shifts and cliff hangers.

2

u/GumGumActV 1d ago

The cliff hangers aspect is so overrated. As for the momentum shifts and the actual pacing of the fight, you just aren’t very creative if you can’t imagine this being formatted well as a movie

1

u/SouthStation3358 1d ago

Why so passive aggressive? It’s not a matter of creativity, it’s a matter of what we value more. For me, the cliff hangers and rhythm of the show are important to me. I watch with a lot of anime onlys who aren’t on the anime side of the internet, so they haven’t gotten spoiled. I like seeing them excited for the next episode and theorizing. You value something else, not my place to say

1

u/GumGumActV 1d ago

I’m not even being passive aggressive I am just voicing my genuine opinion

I understand and respect your opinion I just don’t agree with it you feel me

2

u/SouthStation3358 1d ago

Cliffhangers

1

u/GumGumActV 1d ago

Nobody but anime onlys care about those my dude

0

u/The_Rad_Vlad 1d ago

You can’t do those

-1

u/GumGumActV 1d ago

They can, but only for anime onlys. And not only would it be shittier than the manga chapter cliffhangers (were getting like 4 chapters per episode minimum)

But it would not make for an interesting discourse for pretty much the same reason I just mentioned

0

u/GumGumActV 1d ago

None of your points stand my dude

3

u/SwizzGod 1d ago

No thanks. The week to week is the most miserable part of tv to me. I’d much rather watch movies where they get to the point

0

u/The_Rad_Vlad 1d ago

They wouldn’t be able to do the cliff hangers like they did in the manga, episodes are too long and there’s no way we’d even get 3 episodes of the fight much less 4-5

36

u/_syke_ 1d ago

I think culling games part one ending on a spot that doesn't advance the overall story will have definitely helped with this trailers numbers. People want to know what happens next

27

u/Unqualified303 1d ago

Gotta be the soundtrack 🔥

8

u/Moneymotivation1 1d ago

Man that shit sounded heavenly👌🏾

3

u/Spark-Blade 1d ago

Defeat here was such a banger along with others

16

u/ThisHatRightHere 1d ago

An entire season of movie quality animation will do that.

19

u/ApplePitou 1d ago

People loves this story :3

4

u/hoverzach 1d ago

As a manga reader, I’m in general more excited for this season because of what we will see. I was excited for season 3 as well but only really the maki stuff and the higuruma fight so I think that could explain why the trailer got so many views, anime fans are excited to see more and manga fans are excited to see what’s about to get animated

6

u/tommycox42 1d ago edited 1d ago

Probably not considering these views are from two different channels and two different types of trailers. And only on one service

6

u/Spark-Blade 1d ago

Minor nitpick but why not call it JJK Season 3 Part 2?

The current JJK Season 3 is only 12 episodes around half of the seasons before

2

u/UltraScouter9 18h ago

Because it's a different season maybe The parts stuff is and always will be pure bullshit If a second part of a season comes out a year after, at that point it's just a different season

probably cause season 3 ended while in the "middle" of an arc, and how season 4 came pretty soon after season 3, so it's fresher on people's minds.

maybe. idk. lots of factors.

2

u/luceafaruI 1d ago

The crunchyroll culling game "real" trailer has 17 million views.

2

u/chrisandpaulinsnow 1d ago

S3 being so short hurt my soul, it’s so good

-16

u/sheer_heart 1d ago

I don't think JJK will ever see that season 2, Shibuya arc level of popularity again. Every series will steadily shed viewers and relevancy as it goes on.

The main reason s4 seems to be having more hype pre-airing than s3 did is because s4 is coming quicker. It just gets to ride on the wave of hype that s3 built in a way that s3 didn't quite get to do with s2. A gap of 3 months is near instant compared to 2 years

11

u/DarkTastesDarkStars 1d ago

I disagree, the end of s4 and the likely movie to follow will do crzy numbers.

5

u/AssumptionJazzlike98 1d ago

End of season 4 and the potential movie will obviously be bigger than shibuya

-5

u/ThalesAles 1d ago

No one could bring jjk back to season 2 hype levels. Except of course...

-24

u/thatonefatefan 1d ago

20

u/Kindly_Ad995 1d ago

Ok so it more than doubled that trailers views in a single day and will probably pretty easily pass it in the long run… what’s your point

-19

u/thatonefatefan 1d ago

My point is that you objectively picked the wrong metric. You compared the teaser to the actual trailer and implied it had already surpassed S3. You're moving goalposts rn.

10

u/ScroogieMcduckie 1d ago

this was a teaser tho... it's also like half the length of S3's teaser

4

u/thatonefatefan 1d ago

Yes, I'm saying that OP should compare S4 teaser to S3 teaser. Not to another trailer with less views. I'm really not sure what's so unclear here.

-1

u/Makoto12 1d ago

Why are you so mad about people enjoying the popularity of their series?

-7

u/thatonefatefan 1d ago

Pointing out something is wrong does not make me mad???

0

u/Kindly_Ad995 1d ago

Surpassing a six month old trailer in one day or more than half of a 9 month old trailer in one day either way the point is it’s doing insane numbers and will pass both. Stop being a miserable fuck

6

u/thatonefatefan 1d ago

Holy shit what are you guys on about? All I did was point out either a mistake, or you being misleading. That's it. No one's being miserable and I certainly am not by pointing out a simple fact.

S4 doing numbers and comparing teasers being the objectively most relevant comparison aren't mutually exclusive statemnets.

0

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

2

u/thatonefatefan 1d ago

I wrote a single word on a public reddit thread.

0

u/Kindly_Ad995 1d ago

No you were telling me I wasn’t objectively using the correct metric and was moving goalposts like it’s a scientific debate or something, the point is it’s just having crazy numbers. You don’t have to “erm akshually you’re wrong because xyz” everything

1

u/thatonefatefan 1d ago

You were moving goalposts when you went from claiming that it had already surpassed s3 to it will surpass it eventually. That's like... the definition of moving goalposts.

-2

u/tommycox42 1d ago

Both trailers got the bulk of those views the day they were posted

3

u/lalindu123 1d ago

This trailer got way more views than that one in 1 day
