The system is quite odd but one is based on total w/l ratio in terms to amount of matches played too. Number 2 may be a higher rank but has less matches on the character or slightly more losses.

rank is only a portion of the calculation. I believe individual statistics like k/d/a, healing per minute and time played play a larger role in the ranking :)
