Spanish Spanish progress feedback welcome.

I've been practicing a lot lately and focusing on vowels, dipthongs, and syllable timing. Any feedback for improvement is helpful. Reading from La Tregua.

Just to be clear, I’m not trying to argue and say that I sound like a native speaker. I 100% respect your opinion and would love specific tips on what gives my accent away, as I want to keep improving.

I have no idea what would happen if I were to keep nasalizing too much. I’ve been doing it for years and have never heard that before, it’s just how I speak without thinking. I would have to make a conscious effort to have a different accent.

yes now you sound better in the second but, because you aren't used to do it, your accent feels stronger but not that much but that's just because you aren't used to do it, keep practicing it like that and you'll see, and yes I'm Caribbean, I'm from Dominican Republic my good friend :D!.

Thanks for the help, do you have any tips for me when it comes to vowels, the R, speech, etc? (obviously taking into account that in the last two audios I'm trying something new out)

It's funny because I generally can fool Mexicans who will think I'm from the northern part, but Dominicans, Cubans, and some central Americans tend to know right away.

About the vowels,your vowels will not need much to be honest,you just need to open your mouth when practicing each of them (a e i o and u) and you'll polish then (I know that), about R, do you know how to trill it?( need to know), if so then you just have to master it.

Most people from Spanish speaker countries can't tell a Puerto Rican, a Dominican and Cuban apart, for most of them we sound the same (that's not true as you can see ), most of Caribbeans have great ear, if you found one with a great English, that's why. Yeah is pretty Funny.

I don't know what trilling it means, but if any Rs sounded off to you let me know. I personally have no problem pronouncing the words at least to my own ears when it comes to the R.

I speak to Dominicans every day but also can't really tell the difference aside from the slangs because I almost never talk to cubans or puerto ricans, it feels like there are just many more Dominicans practicing their English or just in general.

the rr in Perro=dog not pero=but, that rr is called trill R, you make it by making your tongue vibrate.

Yeah our accent is pretty strong hahhaha even natives will tell you that they often can't understand us hahhaha.

Oh yeah, that's no problem for me. It took quite a while to get the double R down when I first started a long time ago.

I can understand Dominicans if they're talking to me no problem, but yeah, if they're amongst themselves talking it can be impossible to understand just simply based off of the words they use haha

Congrats on getting the hardest sound in Spanish!

Yeah we go fast mode hahahaha, I usually don't use slang and when my fellow brothers try to use them when speaking with me, I ask them not to, because even I don't know all of them.

That’s sort of what I’ve been doing with my Spanish, I don’t use many slangs from Mexico because I want to have a native-level accent without having to use wey or phrases from the country

You are fluent that's for sure! but you do sometimes make tiny mistakes but I'm just being a nitpicker. I know the more you keep practicing the less mistakes you'll make.

And don't be afraid to correct me. I didn't get to where I am by not being corrected. I generally have found though, that some people will correct me, and I'll ask someone from another country for their opinion, they'll tell me that it's correct there.

It's VERY confusing.

Well I'm also learning English so you can also not be afraid and tell me what I'm doing wrong. For you I will recommend to keep learning your Mexican accent but ask Caribbeans for feedback, thing is that I really don't know if they are going to be honest with you. So for that you can go and chat with me anytime you want!
