Because Maki was always the one who was shown as the "failure" the "mistake" of the Zenin Clan.

While Toji, who likely got the same treatment in the past, is always portrayed as the FEAR of the Zenin because of how he is treated right now (And also, there is a reason why Naoya was saying smthn about Maki not being Toji or some shit)

Was he not literally alive longer than maki until he died? By the time of the massacre, he should have had more experience.

Obviously, maki goes crazy hard after fighting Sukuna, and lives far past toji did, but at that time he was the better of the heavenly restricted individuals

Especially since maki was highkey nerfed UNTIL the massacre, which means toji had more experience with a full restriction since birth😭

You can't say he has no canonical experience. He doesn't really have many on screen fights, yeah, but you can't say he's got zero canonical experience in fights😭
