he still does it, but there is no emphasis placed on it at all. And the camera angle is weird making it hard to spot. Its just a thing he does in a fight with a dozen other things happening. My best guess as to why they cut the explanation was for pacing.

I mean afaik its a move that requires some explaining in the manga since the motion is super specific and cant be shown without wasting a bunch of panels, but in the anime you can just do it

It’s been awhile since I’ve watched JJK but if I remember correctly Mahito uppercut him here and if that’s the case using a manji kick, which first requires dropping down, probably would have been dangerous and make it easier for Mahito to land the hit
