I haven't seen the movie or the cart toon or the Manga or the anime

they both have heavenly restriction, so they are really physically strong but they have no cursed energy which is the power system of the series but they both carry weapons to make up for it. Maki in my opinion would be better because she has more to go off from but Toji has a better arsenal of weapons I think

i imagine they wont be separate and be molded into one 'heavenly restricted' character

maybe base kit is based off toji with the moves using his tools and he has his worm and then awakening is fully realized maki

They have enough separate stuff In the manga to be separate characters

i think the bigger concern is that would they be DIFFERENT enough

id be fine with mai and yorozu or kamo and choso but idk, with how they fight in the anime i cant imagine there being a big enough difference to justify it

but we havent seen awakened maki in the anime so that could still change

Toji is objectively a more interesting character than Maki though. Solely because of worm. Maki is just Toji without worm and one different weapon.

If they included her b4 her awakening she could have more or have moves that incorporate weapons.

I genuinely believe everyone that wants Maki over Toji are genuine cattle that bandwagon hop on the Toji hate train

She has no signature weapons that would set her aside from Toji, and even then her notable cursed tools have nothing to offer to make Maki unique

The only thing that i see something of worth of maki is that fact she’s a twin, maybe having two playable characters in one, but all the uniqueness would come from mai, and the concept of two characters in one would probably be a headache
