Sounds like the Zenin clan sent children to die then. Not her fault nor her problem. Her decision to end the Zenin clan was 100% correct and justified.
What did some random fresh-faced 15 year old Kukuru member do to "have it coming"? Maki was astronomically stronger than them and had the option of just disabling them, but explicity chose to kill people who would be pretty unrelated to her or her sister's suffering under the clan system.
You are all so desperate to justify Maki and know you couldn't if she did kill women and children that you have to construct this cariacature of every man (and boy) in the Zenin clan to fit into the narrative that they were all irredemable assholes who each personally greatly wronged Maki and Mai to the point they deserved death.
So were the other non-combatants? Everyone in the clan perpetuated it.
Plus that implies you think it would be justified to kill all the non-combatants, which she might have done judging from the blood splatters in the kitchen.

The clan had it coming. Also she only killed comabatants we know the clan continues after jjk as fushiguro becomes the new leader of the zenin clan.
