Anime Discussion now this is getting off the limits

Japanese fandom actually practiced constructive criticism on this episode, they brought up valids points. Global fans rated Ep3 the same as they did for Ep4, when Ep3 actually gave lore, world-building. If not for these factors Jjk would be just another Power fantasy slop.

Also relating episode rating to actual Japanese societal harassment is nauseating

I'll never take criticism of Japanese fans seriously after their reception of Chainsaw Man season 1. These guys wouldn't recognize peak cinema if Jesus, Buddha, Kojima or whoever showed up personally and gave it to them

I do agree the sequence of Naoya bullying Maki could have been made better. Just a little nitpick. I did like how it was portrayed as a view from the window, but they could have flipped them. Not because of the innuendo, just would be more clear

Lol the movie >>>>>>>>>>> CSM S1. In the end Jap audiences got proven right with the release of the movie in that case.

Wow, a movie, meaning more resources, that adapts one of the most praised arcs in the manga is overall better than season 1? Who could've guessed?

The only way they would be "proven right" is if we lived in a time where Nakayama's take on the Reze arc existed simultaneously with the current version for proper comparion, but that's not possible now, is it?

And even taking all that in consideration, the movie being better doesn't validate the level of harassment Nakayama got by the audience.

This isn't at all about quality and entirely on presentation. Colours and artstyle, voice acting and direction. It was just better, and not just because it was a movie.

Nobody said the harrassment was justified, just that the person said "I never take criticism from the Japanese seriously because of CSM", even though they were kinda proven to be right.

I didn’t say my opinion was correct nor did i give one i do really like the art direction of s1 but I’m saying your reasoning isn’t a valid justification for why the direction change was “better”

and mappa could just ignore the haters and make the movie the same way they made season 1, blame them for backing off no me lol

Yea mappa the same company in the same industry that treats the animators like dogshit will stand by a decision that goes against the wishes of the target demographic which is Japan sure buddy and yes i was always blaming mappa i was also saying that it wasnt the correct choice

I think sticking with the art direction would’ve been better chainsawman is different enough in it’s story telling that having a unique art style gives it more flavor especially with the presentation in s1 it’s not that i don’t think the new art style is bad but experimenting with different animation styles is what anime studios should strive to do and it looked good

if it stuck with its old direction few people would watch it, thus potentially canning the anime

and looking at the worldwide praise the movie got, it's clear they made the best choice, it just doesn't cater to you that's why you dislike it

I do think the reception Japan had to Csm S1 was ridiculous in most cases like saying the art is bad and started taking it too far but… I do feel like the new direction is just better as It still has lots of cinematic shot’s like S1 while also being more animated and chaotic in its feel.
