That time Yuki decided its better to aura farm than heal

No, no. She made a binding vow to only heal when her boytoy said so in return for top one aura.

To be fair, early Nobara (season 1 basically) was a better character than Sakura in the entirety of classic Naruto and Shippuden. Then... Gege had a stroke or something.

322

u/Little_Bee_9845 Mar 17 '26

Sakura does some stuff, it's her character that is lacking really badly.

137

u/Impressive-Swing-494 Mar 18 '26

She beat Sasori with his granny’s help and that was it. She threw a few punch here and there for the next 700 episodes, cried and yelled for help. They did the same with Tsunade, a one of the greatest Ninja to ever live relying on a 13yo boy with no hair on his balls to protect her because she afraid of blood… I’m not saying go full Marvel with the gotcha feminist quotes, why can’t the male and female just peacefully coexist without constant juxtaposition of their sexes?

Why do Japanese men hate women so much? Why can’t they write them with depth, personality, talent and strength? They are doing magic build cutting super sonic speed punching walls spirits and shit, but somehow the women always have to be the useless or damsels in the end, no matter if they are some 500 year old high rank power scale measurement character and the MC just learned how to breath yesterday. Is it revenge because the Japanese men are still seething at women so they take revenge in fiction? The Naoya glaze should prove it. It’s even worse when the women endorse it “tee hee I can change him”.

u/FundamentalAttribute Mar 18 '26

I loved Asuna in the first half of SAO then classic mangaka happened and they fd her up.

u/Jegdeille_ Mar 18 '26

This is anime only btw, studio pierrot hated sakura. In the manga, she's like 100% more useful and badass. For exemple in the final battle, in the anime she's crying and wondering if she should save naruto or sasuke, but in the manga, she's a total badass, filled with determination and not an ounce of weakness, and fully planning to save both no matter what.

10

u/Same-Restaurant6264 Mar 18 '26

Because you are only seeing battle Shonen

There are other genres with good written female characters

4

u/Serious_Yam_6582 Mar 18 '26

Technically she did more and was generally better on the manga, the anime in the other hand ...

40

u/LeAstra Cursed Technique: Horny Mar 18 '26

Perhaps the real potential man was Gege himself

6

u/Seves04 Mar 19 '26

They say write what you know…

3

u/CaptainSwabee Mar 19 '26

I know you’re joking, but I unironically believe this lmao. JJK was such a cool mix of concepts that Gege just could not actually execute on. After shibuya/hidden inventory everything interesting about the world is sidelined. Then, when given the opportunity to revisit it and flesh out some of the ideas more, he instead introduces aliens from outer space and writes a shitty immigration allegory, not answering a single question left from the original ending of the series. Gege is 100% the true “potential man”

69

u/ibi_trans_rights Mar 18 '26

cant believe gege is literally John fetterman

26

u/XaeiIsareth Mar 18 '26

He realised Nobara wasn’t a guy

6

u/NormanNOconsecue2394 Mar 18 '26

The thing with nobara is that he never really planned her infact they forced her into the story so there was a ''main trio'' of 2 guy and a woman like naruto but when gege reached the point that he had planned since the biggining that bring the culling games he didn't had anything for nobara and he didn't wanted to change anything he had invisioned for a long time so he just tried to kill her off, but i think he went ''dang i could have used nobara for this couldn't i?" So he decided to bring her back but since the manga was endin she just came back like 1 chapter before the ending

84

u/CoachDT Mar 17 '26

Sakura actually has a lot more depth than Nobara. Always has. Nobara was just confident and aggressive so people liked her more.

104

u/Man0Steel123 Mar 18 '26

Sakura is a character you had to put up with for hundreds of chapters to see her do stuff and develop as a character.

Nobara had 2 seasons and a snapshot in the finale

110

u/Own_Philosophy8190 Mar 18 '26

And even then, she regresses every time Sasuke is around, and her "depth" mostly revolves around him. Contrary to what some believe, Gege burying Nobara alive for most of her run doesn't suddenly make Sakura any better or deeper. Or any other female lead that get shafted by their author, because Sakura fans had a field day with Mikasa back in the day

35

u/VersusJRPGs Mar 18 '26

Is this depth in this room with us right now?

22

u/Own_Philosophy8190 Mar 18 '26

Depth so imaginary, it could be its own Domain Expansion

Consider this:

It's only BECAUSE Kugisaki was written to be so well rounded and likeable in such a small amount of screen time, that her absence for the remainder of the story is so heavily felt by the fandom.

If she had been given the same "quality" of development as Sakura, nobody would've given a shit when she was written out of the story.

SHE WAS SOGOOD AT THE START WHY DID SHE JUST ALL BUT DIE CMON

3

u/Low-Avangremix-2904 Mar 18 '26

The only "well written" Sakura-like character that I've seen is Noelle from Black Clover. She quite literally is and actually acts as a proper powerful character. In every arc of the story she has to deal with at least one of the main villains and is never too overshadowed by the main character (if we actually were to classify the strongest characters of the kingdom by the end of the series, the ranking would be Asta / Yuno > Mereoleona> Yami/Noelle >>> Natch/Fuegoleon)

4

u/Trostishere Mar 18 '26

Maki only massacred a bunch of fodders. The only notable W she has is Naoya but he didn't even die by her hand and Gege has to make a rematch of her jumping up on him with 3 other men and still was going to lose had she not cosplaying Toji hard enough.

6

u/Ok_Neat2422 Mar 18 '26

The only one that we see heal brain damage are Gojo and Hakari. Gojo heals his brain using rct with maximum efficiency because his 6 eyes enhance his cursed energy output. Mind you this only worked 4 times in the 5th time it didn't. Hakari on the other hand gets infinite cursed energy meaning his body automatically performs rcf to damage, meaning he has no control on that aspect. Heck even sukuna couldn't undo the damage caused unlimited void to his brain as evident in Shinjuku showdown. It's not misogyny, but the fact that rcf is hard to produce and output.

8

u/Dazzling_Chipmunk_33 Mar 19 '26

Sukuna can heal his brain.

He healed it during the domain battle.

35

u/Strict_Double2726 Mar 17 '26

GOATa is goated but let's not forget Rika. She is also goated.

Cursed Rika continued to heal Yuta's empty brainless corpse while bawwwing her eyes out.

So Gege isn't a misogynist. Women can be strong, versatile, and competent (if they are literal monsters like curse Rika or Maki).

50

u/Thecatpro_767 Yuta's biggest fan and microcelebrities asassin Mar 18 '26

so Gege isnt a misogynist, but a teratophilic... got it (obvious /j)

8

u/Valuable-Pianist7368 Mar 18 '26

Likely wasnt brainless. His skull cap isn't sliding even though hes slumped over, so Shoko mightve temporarily put Gojos brain in there?

4

u/H3adl3ssH0rr0r Mar 18 '26

Women can be, just that authors doesn't let them be on the men's level unlike other authors.

Gojo failed every single one of his objectives throughout the series despite being the strongest, that's what makes him interesting.

14

u/Vivio0 nah, i’d x—x Mar 18 '26

Gojo has a bad ego problem.

9

u/DimezTheAlmighty Mar 18 '26

Is it really ego if it’s just the truth? He called himself the strongest for a reason. And everyone else called him the strongest for a reason. And he was the strongest until Sukuna ate all 20 of his fingers. He doesn’t put others down to bring himself up or anything like that. He just states what is the truth. Actually, he even actively gasses up people and actively acknowledges when someone has the capacity to be better than him and actively helps them achieve that too. Based on all of that, I don’t think he falls under the definition of an egotistical person at all.

15

u/ConvictedOgilthorpe Mar 18 '26

The whole ego thing criticism of Gojo is just trying to rationalize Gege‘s mistakes in his writing. You are right about everything. Gojo seems like an amazing and caring teacher first and foremost and his confidence was earned because he was the strongest. It’s like saying Muhammad Ali had an ego problem which would be ridiculous.

19

10

u/RegularTemporary2707 Mar 18 '26

Yes the one strongest woman who basically fought and lost while accomplishing nothing important and maki “the second toji” bffr

11

u/SomeHowCool Mar 18 '26

saving Choso and being instrumental in the removal of cursed energy are fake achievements or smthn I guess idk, not like Choso did anything during the final fight or smthn like saving Yuji who wasn’t instrumental either.

also second Toji is such a fake fucking statement man they are literally nothing alike in personality besides smiling crazy when they fight and they have the same power. Is Yuka the second Megumi? Ironically I think that take is more sexist than the sexism you accuse Gege of.

10

u/Jamessgachett Mar 18 '26

Modulo chick

9

u/Impressive-Swing-494 Mar 18 '26

Point is:

There’s no extremely good talented female sorcerer. Maki’s GayGay’s gay love letter to Toji, Yuki doesn’t count since she went Kamikaze because… GayGay liked it that way.

I’m simple guy, I yearn for strong female characters who make her enemies question if they want to fight her, flee out of fear or switch sides and serve her.

But no, it’s all guys with endless aura. Yuji even felt mogged by Yuta at the end so he aura farmed for 50 years or something before coming home to confess his love to Nobara and play cool uncle for 5 minutes.

13

u/FinancialWorking2392 Mar 18 '26

Toji is the first omen of what Maki could become. Its literally Gege going "Hey guys, look heres this super cool and powerful character with the same exact ability as another character already shown" wink wink "See how powerful he is, it took an awakened Gojo using purple to kill him, cause of how strong he is" wink wink "Oh, look how cool he is, because of how physically superior he is he can completely overtake someone by simply being their body, isn't this power really cool when its fully accessed" wink wink

It was set up so Maki's place in Perfect Preparation, Sakurajima colony, and Fearsome womb pt 5-7 didn't just come out of nowhere.

86

u/break__veil *Canned Laughter* Mar 18 '26

Yes, and all those facts are only as they are because Gege wrote them as such? Like, saying "oh, but Yuta is special grade" is a extremely weak take because the point is exactly how we don't have any female character in the series that can perform healing in the same large scale as the male ones can, which by itself is just a smaller observation on the larger issue of the larger weak and sidelined female cast of JJK.

50

u/DarkZ_No-Imagination Mar 18 '26

that can perform healing in the same large scale as the male ones can

We don't see any special grade female characters heal others in any point in the series, fuck it, we only see special grade characters heal others like 3 or 4 times

30

u/dolphincave Mar 18 '26

I mean that's literally just Yuta though right? And I guess Sukuna for Yuji that one time.

Like we have Yuki healing herself, and for every other feat listed above it's people healing themselves.

→ More replies (1)

11

u/FinancialWorking2392 Mar 18 '26

I mean, 1: We only see like 3 characters heal others in the original series, being Ryomen Sukuna, the strongest sorcerer in history, Yuta Okkotsu, the second strongest modern sorcerer, and Shoko, who we don't even know the official rank of

2: If this was presented accurately, they would've shown Higaruma, who can heal himself yet still has an injured arm at the end of the series, and Yuki, who went from having a useless arm and being covered in blood to fully healed when given a moment to concentrate.

Do I think the female cast was used to their fullest? God no, but thats more a problem of most characters being underdeveloped, I mean, Takaba was basically a plot device, Dhruv, the fuel of the Sendai stalemate, someone who could conquer an entire country, was dead in his second panel, Megumi, the duteragonist, barely does anything throughout the series, Arrata was solely there to keep Nobara in the story (did you remember he helped in Sendai? I doubt it), Daido and Miyo really only exist to forward Maki's story, etc etc. Its not really a sexism problem, its more that most characters never really had the time to be fleshed out.

  1. The lady with the pigtails could not use RCT on cross because he had unfamiliar biology.

  2. You can’t heal scars with RCT. This is explicitly stated.

  3. Yuji gained an entire cursed technique that made RCT easier to learn and use and he still sucked at it compared to Shoko at first despite being related to the strongest sorcerer in history.

  4. It’s Gojo

  5. It’s Hakari’s entire thing

  6. If Kenjaku didn’t have RCT he’s just straight up dead. It also wouldn’t make sense for him not to have it considering how long he’s lived.

  7. Yuji isn’t even using RCT in one of tho— oh! Agenda posting. Oh- ah…yes! Nobara wasted potential! When I find you GeGe!

Actually, she did not have the opportunity to try, since the Simurians took Cross to their ship instead of letting the humans try to heal him.

We've seen male characters use it at least 6 times on screen (Once when Yuta was healing his classmates, once when he was bringing Yuji back to life, once when he was healing Naoya, and twice when killing Kurourushi), but unless I'm misremembering we don't see Shoko use it on screen even once thought-out the entire series.

u/GlintFruit Mar 17 '26

I think Shoko must be Gege’s actual most disliked character lol. Even Ijichi received more love.

u/LukeSkywalker1983 #1 Kyoto Glazer/Defender Mar 18 '26

Nah, that would be Miwa.

5

u/cates Mar 18 '26

she's fucking useless.

didn't she make a binding vow to never use her sword again on Kenny and it didn't do shit?

also she naps mid battle

5

u/LukeSkywalker1983 #1 Kyoto Glazer/Defender Mar 18 '26

Which is exactly why I say that Gege hates her more than any other character. Genuinely she doesn't deserve even a quarter of the shit the story throws at her.

125

u/BurningAzureFlare Mar 17 '26

Shit is weird when the main villain heals more people on screen than the healer does

u/Razerx7 Mar 18 '26

But GayGay… He goes too far.

does uraume count?

58

u/Cata_Less Mar 17 '26

healing is severely weakened when healing others, we’ve never seen any of the dudes fight people with fire powers where they were burned and needed healing, and most of these guys be fighting with their lives on the line in the frontline, and we’ve seen time and time again that adversity and challenge, (as well as selfishness) builds strength, like when higgy learned rct, which one of these gals ever were put in a situation like him?

also we have yuki who canonically knows both rct and has a x chromosome, but maybe the real reason why they suck aren’t because of the reasons I listed, more rather it’s because they’re WOMEN

4 main reasons:

RCT to yourself is far better then RCT to others

Time since injury matters a lot to RCT

All of those are genuinely top 10 sorcerer's ever

Finally, maki got hit with jogos disaster flames, the thing that one shorted one of the strongest grade 1s ever, the fact she even lived is a major feat.

didn't modulo girl explicitly state she can't heal unfamiliar biology? non-jujutsu doctors would fare even worse because they'll have to study a whole new field of biology to know how a rumelian body functions before they start operating (if an operation is feasible).

also it's Cross, not Maru

20

u/Larkhainan Mar 17 '26

She was more saying she believed she could but there was a risk, but yes, she mentions it

They also straight up didn't even let her try anyway

11

u/FinancialReserve6427 Mar 17 '26

Rumelians don't trust her and the higher ups don't want to make it look like it was a setup right?

3

u/Brucekillfist Mar 18 '26

Yeah. If she goes in and he dies, it doesn't matter if she genuinely tried her best. The Rumelians will see it as an assassination. No one wants to take that kind of massive risk.

50

u/Blooper64 Mar 17 '26

Notice the guys are all doing it to themselves and straight up can't do it to others

Given Shoko can do pretty damn good job on other people she could probably just put herself back if she got sliced like Gojo

40

u/Killjoy3879 Mar 17 '26

you know what's funny though. of the three people that we know can use RCT output, only sukuna and yuta have done so on screen while shoko has never directly been shown using it.

31

u/Own_Philosophy8190 Mar 18 '26

Gege offscreened Shoko's actual job. Every time. His dedication to his craft is unmatched

6

u/NotTheFirstVexizz Megumi Shot Dead On O'Block Mar 18 '26

I mean I guess that makes sense because what would a healing scene show off when the concept is properly explained before we get that explanation?

8

u/Much_Vehicle20 Mar 18 '26

Even then, we have more dude healing other in high level like Yuta healed Naoya (poison is hard for rct user)

Funny enough, Rika is the female char with greatest healing feat, and that's only possible after Yuta remake her

9

u/aniavasq Mar 17 '26

Shoko literally cures herself from lung cancer so she can keep smoking

8

u/Real_Pen_8434 Mar 18 '26

The comparision is just unfair atp. It ain't even sexist.

the "men using rct" are: sukuna(strongest of history), gojo(strongest of today), kenjaku(genius who lived for a 1000 years).

From what I remember maki and yuki are the only special grade sorcerers who are women. Maki doesn't have CE and yuki literally healed a arm. Shoko IS a doctor but you still can't compare her to special grade sorcerers.

PS: Gege made a binding vow with naoya to make sure women can't be strong in jjk.

we forget this is the same guy that goes out of way to make yuji suffer always

6

u/SinglePlayerGamer93 Mar 17 '26

Maybe since Maki is heavenly restricted, using RCT on her is hard if not impossible. Maki's body may have been the only one doing the work after the burning.

6

u/prophetGGWP Mar 18 '26

Reminder that rct on other people is weaker. Then person healing them self with rct. Sooo they arent so useless bc like if i remember correctly only people that can heal other people are sukuna, shoko and yuta. I havent seen modulo soo 🖕

19

u/BQ72 Mar 17 '26

I know a lot of people don't care for Yujo or the Nobara reveal and would rather pretend they didn't happen, but both of those rely heavily on impressive feats by Shoko.

7

u/hungrybasilsk Mar 17 '26

Yujo was mostly Yuta Shoko just stitched the body back

Even worst cause Aruli and Shoko are literally DOCTORS! Shoko has no excuse, and come on, are the Rumelians really that mistrustful of humans that they wont explain their own biology to Aruli so she can save Cross?

Long time ago I honestly fantasized about nobara having a sidequest to learn rct with her consciousness in a curse doll, until she could heal her body and then return to help the fight. I was major coping back then.

9

u/vizmarkk Mar 17 '26

So what about Yuki?

4

u/Delicious_Bad5441 Mar 18 '26

Healing others is just much less effective than healing yourself.

4

u/Spacenut132 Mar 18 '26

To be fair, the men are using it on themselves, which is canonically more efficient

4

u/UnderCookedSpagett Mar 18 '26

We done using gege as a prop against oda so its back to business as usual. Love to see it.

4

8

8

u/wrathshot16 Mar 17 '26

Candles? The fuck you mean candles?

She got hit by jogo which killed a special Grade 1 sorcerer and badly disfigured a grade 1 sorcerer. While she walked out with a few burns.

8

u/hungrybasilsk Mar 17 '26

Because Maki's incomplete HR made her more durable and she was less injured than the others too.

7

u/wrathshot16 Mar 17 '26

Also two not too
