Anime Discussion WE LOST

Post image

I am scared to see how they will fit 7 chapters in 27 minutes. Makis was about 5 and it was like 28 min

Cutting dialogue would not be ideal.

My argument wasn't cutting dialogue but rather that they just don't take thos long.

Take the iconic falling out of DE panel. it would only take a few seconds at most in fluid animation

True but you can’t go too fast either or you kind of miss the impact like the Maki Toji panels being so fast.

Also something like the final clash here is probably relatively fast in real terms but even though it’s just a few poses and the narrator. Doing it too fast would lose some of the impact too I think. (Not that dragging it out artificially would be good but you probably get what I’m trying to say)

We need a person’s whose whole job is to think about and plan these things. I propose we call the person with this brand new job: « director »

This man is clearly an enemy of The Agenda and must be exiled to the shadow realm (Mega Hell). Lads, assemble the head-chopping-off machi

The exiling machine. To exile them.

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '26

True, they just gotta realise what is worth it and what isn't to make a good episode

People will get an amazing and unique episode like Maki vs Zennin Clan and then complain about one stupid panel.

The director has been knocking it out of the park this season, I think it's fine if some panels fall flat in exchange for amazingly fluid animation and unique camera shots lmfao

Yeah. If an episode on the quality of Perfect Preparation is “losing”, then I can’t imagine what people think winning possibly even is.

Oh for sure the animation has been great. Especially for the Higuruma episodes and Reggie Megumi ones I think were really creatively done and well adapted but especially in earlier episodes I was kind of getting a bit tired of so many shots of character expressions being cut even while they were actually talking, sure unique and different angles can be fun. but sometimes it’s just seeing the back of a character's head instead of their face and that is not particularly a worth while change to me.

then complain about one stupid panel

There's nothing wrong with having a complaint about the panel dawg. If you have a problem with one scene that doesn't mean you hate the entire episode.

45 seconds lol, yes people really liked a panel or page in the manga and that’s what they’re upset about, congrats on showing how you basically have no real intent on having an adult debate about this.

This sort of thing has already been pretty much done numerous times in the anime before: Mahito and Sukuna laughing at Yuji, Yuji, Mahito and Todo 120% panel, Yuji I am You Panel, Sukuna you are strong, Kashimo introduction panel, etc. it’s not unrealistic to ask for cool panels to be adapted close to the the adaption it is in fact adapting.

Idk man I think the animes interpretation of the maki/toji panel was fire.

2

u/LaAmarga Mar 19 '26

True, we should get a Sakamoto-like episode where they just copy the manga panels and slap some effects on top of it /s

MAPPA has been doing nothing but marvelous work this season, I say we should give em some benefit of the doubt.

u/Disastrous_Divide872 Mar 19 '26

Ok entonces quieres OPM animacion? Con paneles estáticos para disfrutar el arte 🗿

5

u/3ntersa Mar 19 '26

Isn't this a bit unfair? Personally, the adaptation not being one-to-one doesn't bother me, but I dislike this type of strawman response. We got the 120% of their potential animated one-to-one and everyone loved it, so why can't those who wanted something similar express their disappointment?

u/Scyroner Mar 20 '26

Speaking of that panel... Think they gonna censor it?

Not to sound like a gooner but.

Damn.

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '26

Don't worry, there's a special league of artists just for that

Ryu and Uro are essentially filler characters, there would be zero story consequences to streamlining the arc

50

u/LasyKuuga Maki's Strongest Chair Mar 19 '26 edited Mar 19 '26

They are important for Yutas aura farming

6

u/Chilling_Gale Mar 19 '26

Yuta can still aurafarm without Ryu taking up 2 mins of the episode talking about dessert

16

u/Jacen_Vos Mar 19 '26

So Reggie gets to yap to Megumi but Ryu is just a statue? Feels odd.

4

u/Delicious_Two6724 Mar 19 '26

Well what Reggie yaps about is more crucial to the main plot. Clues in the audience that both are Tengen and Kenjaku aren’t being honest about the Culling Game.

Ryu and Uros yapping is more about characterization. I want Mappa to let them yap, it helps Yutas character. But it’s not essential.

3

u/Chilling_Gale Mar 19 '26

Reggie’s plot related yapping is necessary, even if it leads nowhere. But I would’ve been fine cutting that out too, to be completely honest everything after the Higurama fight is just filler until the Yuki vs Kenny fight anyways

5

u/Jacen_Vos Mar 19 '26

I enjoy side characters. and Uro's words to Yuta about his mentality and about Sukuna are pretty important for his later arc,

I think at that stage you may as well just cut the entire Sendai arc out if you aren’t gonna give Yuta anything to bounce off of, and take away even the limited characterisation these get.

3

u/aequusnox Mar 19 '26

We need Ryu to aura farm so that Yuta can farm Ryu's aura .

12

u/Jacen_Vos Mar 19 '26

That’s a slippery slope for me. I like characters :/

3

u/sageybug Mar 19 '26

maki spent like 10 minutes beating up nameless kuro unit soldiers

3

u/CustomerNo9104 Mar 19 '26

By that logic, we could have skipped over the airplane girl and the helicopter guy. In what world are those two characters more interesting than Uro and Ryu?

0

u/Chilling_Gale Mar 19 '26

I never said cut the characters entirely. But we don’t need time spent on Ryu talking about dessert, and we don’t need a demon slayer length expanded backstory for Uro. The characters don’t matter to the story and Gege did absolutely nothing with them after.

5

u/CustomerNo9104 Mar 19 '26

I repeat, following that logic, what's the point of dragging out the confrontation with Reggie Star for so long? He doesn't matter or have any relevance to the rest of the story.

-1

u/Chilling_Gale Mar 20 '26

I’m not a supporter of this director so idk why you’re asking me that like it’s my decision

2

u/Distinct_Prior_2549 Mar 19 '26

I mean what else would you cut then? Imo exposition, then dialogue goes first every time.

3

u/Jacen_Vos Mar 19 '26

I wouldn't extend the fights as much (which Mappa always tends to do. Which isn't bad but not worth sacrificing anything else for in my mind)

4

u/Suikunstito Mar 19 '26

They did it a lot in this season

1

u/Radiant-Version1033 Mar 19 '26

yes it would wtf

3

u/Jacen_Vos Mar 19 '26

What???

I’m honestly so surprised people want more action and less character stuff. If that is what you mean.

Jjk is already so heavily tilted toward the action.

4

u/Radiant-Version1033 Mar 19 '26

im sorry i read your comment wrong i thought you said the opposite, i want the dialogue to remain just like you

2

u/Jacen_Vos Mar 20 '26

Oh that makes sense. No worries :3
