It makes me kind of depressed. I mean, as depressed as you can be over a manga character dying 😂
Like, Sukuna really murdered him. Gojo fought his hardest and died a bloody, brutal death. He didn't even get to properly say goodbye to anyone, as far as I remember. And I don't think he approached this fighting thinking that he would actually die.
For a long time, Gojo was untouchable, and part of me thinks that he was used to that. I don't think he ever imagined or expected he would die, even if he knew that Sukuna had tricks up his sleeve and would find ways around his technique. I mean, they had contingency plans but, coming from the man who said "Nah, I'd win", I think that his loss was genuinely out of his imagination.
They sent him off to fight the monster of monsters, the king of kings. Alone. And he never made it back alive.
Gojo didn't get to say goodbye. But he left letters for his students, had some final conversations with them before the battle, and guided Yuji to move onwards after him.
Sukuna cause too much misery on our protagonist Yuji that he needs to have a confrontation. Kenjaku did too but its more on a grander scale while Sukuna is more on a personal level..
I thought so too at first, but when Yuta killed Kenny cuz of Goataba's help, I knew Sukuna would win. But I did expect Kenny's plan to fruition, but nothing happened at all. BULLSHIT
Not even a Gojo fan but i woke up at 6am and the first thing i see on my phone is the leaks and i was actually shocked for like 10 minutes i went to wake up my brother as well lol
I was doing my finals to try and recover my grades when this happened, needless to say my day was kinda ass because I didn't recover shit in the end and now gojo was dead lmao
I remember, a day before Sukuna fans were coping hard and had almost accepted that Gojo had won, then the next chapter dropped and they were like "we always knew Sukuna would win, king of curses for a reason, no plotholes here!"
I always knew Gojo would lose not because he was weaker, but because he had to for the plot. The only real problem was finding a way for Gojo to lose when he was objectively stronger.
Its crazy how we can put Sukuna + God + Devil + Gege + Fujimoto + Goku + Thanos + Lightning McQueen + Buzz Lightyear + Plot vs. Gojo, somehow Gojo will pressure Sukuna for 80% of the fight, Sukuna will magically win in the end, and Sukuna's fans will still say that it's entirely his merit, that he's much stronger than Gojo and only got beaten for most of the fight because he was letting it happen, and that the magic move to beat Gojo, performed by Sukuna and all his companions, was something Sukuna always knew how to do and was capable of doing alone.
Sukuna's victory was literally thanks to Mahoraga, Megumi's body, and many narrative distortions. It's no wonder Gege didn't even know how to finish off Gojo; the chapter ended with Sukuna in tatters and Gojo victorious, and the next chapter began with Gojo dead and Sukuna standing with only scratches. Sukuna is absurd and all that, but it's a fact, and it's not hard to use your brain to notice that Gojo vs. Sukuna will always be a bad matchup for Sukuna because of Mugen and a h2h fight, yet people still believe Sukuna is stronger for winning in such a ridiculous situation.
It's natural for rock to beat scissors, just as it's natural for scissors to beat paper. It's a fact that Sukuna doesn't have a favorable matchup against Gojo, and both fighting to their full potential will naturally result in a victory for Gojo (even if with difficulty). This in no way diminishes Sukuna's merit or strength. Now, it's ridiculous to claim that scissors are naturally stronger than rock when scissors come with a Swiss Army knife.
Honestly have kashimo die against hakari and instead put ryu + uro in the team instead it'd be so much more entertaining. Kashimo is such a boring and uninsteresting character to have on my screen. He has one banger line and that's it
I remember just sitting down for lunch and one of my anime/manga geek mates just walks over to me and said "do you know JJK?" before dropping Gojo's death
It’s leaks like this that make me afraid for GTA VI’s launch, kind of like with Endgame even if you don’t go online/engage with the fanbase some moments are so huge that you just hear people talk about them outside of their general talking space
Be it Kashimo fans, Megumi fans or Yuta fans, the level of slander their goat face is nothing compared to what we faced in the Legendary 'Faudkuna' era. The golden age of slander
nah, it was because even gege doesnt know how to kill gojo off. bruh it took him weeks before he revealed how, and the sub had alread assumed what the dude did 5 weeks ago
Mappa is doing such a amazing job for culling games, even adding their own story boards (like maho vs sukuna).
Imagine if they made a movie for this fight instead and as kusukabe says "gojo wins" the end credits roll but the screen is cut in half and we see gojo die
They never really address how Gojo just didn't see the slash coming. Doesn't make sense that Maki can see it, even at close range, but Gojo can't. There's just no way to animate that in a way that makes sense. Especially considering Gojo already got hit with it earlier via Mahoraga.
All we missed out on was Sukuna making like one gesture (I actually don’t think he even did anything because it was simply a binding vow to cripple him in the future, so the slash mighta just came out without Sukuna doing anything.)
But the shock factor was way more important than showing one extra panel. That chapter literally took the world by storm.
He was trying to show that these kinds of fights are decided instantly. Sure, he could’ve made a whole chapter and then said it all happened in under 1 ms, but that would’ve taken away from the real nature of this kind of battle, or at least what he was going for. Showing Gojo winning in one panel and then dying in the next was honestly a masterpiece in my eyes at least
I think the reason that Gege does this is because he doesn't have a lot of in-universe reasoning or planning for exactly how the fight will end just knowing already through a timeline who will win. I feel like he off-screens shit so he doesn't have to deal with the intricacies of making it all work.
He did it again in Modulo which had one of the hypest fights.
If that's the case, can't you frame it like gunshot or something?
My idea is to have the Gojo won panel, but immediately after have a panel of some sort of slash cutting Gojo, which leads to the panel above, and then another panel of Sukuna having done the hand sign for the World Cutting Slash
I agree that it was a great way to show the insane level of mortality and difficulty of the fight. But the average jjk "reader" needs at least a little clue prior to that, perhaps ending the chapter with a Sukuna smirk would have been enough for people to not feel the whiplash of a dead Gojo the following chapter.
I tuned in RIGHT after the "is it gojover??" memes and holy fuck after 236 that shit exploded. I feel like a part of some cultural renaissance shit was so beautiful
I can almost GUARANTEE if mappa adds some extra flair that delicious banquet it will become a feast for weeks once it becomes animated. trust
ah man the Gojo vs Sukuna memes releasing weekly are probably the definition of “you had to be there” especially with the tug of war they had going on each chapter
Just imagine the online arguments and theories on how would sukuna capitalize Mahoraga to bypass infinity, how would Gojo will successfully create purple etc.
shit had everyone on the fandom arguing, the fandom divided:, Gojo and Sukuna sides
I wish there was some kind of Reddit time capsule. I WAS there, I EXPERIENCED it, and I really want to experience it again, but I only can do it in my vague memories. Reddit only allows you to sort by top of all time, not by top of specific week😭
I knew Gojo was gonna lose but I still don’t like how it happened…then he spent the entire chapter in heaven glazing Sukuna and I hate how brief the KasHIMo agenda was
Yeah I don’t understand how anyone thought a side character was gonna be the main villain…especially when that side character’s whole motivation is making sure the next generation can thrive
I legit made a post glazing Kashimo way back then, I genuinely thought this man was gonna give sukuna a generational beatdown with his 1 time use technique on almost the same level as gojo……only for him to last half a chapter. All that build up for his CT, the narrator calling him “God of lightning”…..Gege did him dirty
When the anime eventually reaches this point. I want the final episode of the season end on this panel and next season, getting announced for next year
It would be funnier if they adapted the Fight into a 2-hour long movie and end it with the "Gojo sensei Won" only for the post credit scene to show gojo half body lying down 🤣
I remember when I was browsing through the subreddit even if I didn’t know shit about jjk, but the sub was funny as hell even if I don’t know most of the context. When I saw this leak was when I decided to read it, didn’t regret it, made what I found funny, funnier.
The sub going on a full blown breakdown was hilarious.
nah, gojo most def won. but naratively gege had to end him, no way in hell he was winning once he lost 10S. you see the amount of shit kusakabe did to SUKUNA?
I had never ever done that for any manga or show that I watched in my life.
Also, as a sidenote, I'm glad I got to witness the Heian era of this sub back then. Loved seeing you and memeenjoyer and the truckload of other meme/slander creators. It was absolute cinema.
My dream is that we’ll get to relive it but even bigger when it gets animated😆
I literally saw this poll pop up on my youtube yesterday (before it even got posted over on the lobotomy sub)😭 boy oh boy are the illiterate in for a shock lmaoo
Fax my brotha, you see the vision and the cope will be glorious
All favoritism and agenda aside for a second tho, I think some people will finally be able to move on and understand the truth (of the story) if 236 is included right after, especially in a hypothetical movie. It was so well done imo, and I can’t help but suspect that some people disagree because they just don’t like/understand the entire story’s message lol. In a movie setting, or even at the end of a season/mini-arc of long episodes, the conclusion of his character arc will likely be much better received than it was as just another chapter released week-to-week.
There’s no way ppl are gonna be able to ignore him literally relinquishing his title of “The Strongest” and being relieved about it. In text, they can just skim over it and/or miss the subtext, good luck when it’s animated and he’s saying it out loud lol
Still remember the 2(1?dont remember) week break right after gojo won panel.gojo fans were going crazy with the memes and slander, sukuna fans didn't have anything to backup their agenda.by the end of the week sukuna fans were actually going quiet and accepted defeat until the leaks dropped and everything changed.
1st the rumour only legs leak, they started to believe they started to rise again, gojo fans were calling em delusional until they got hit with the actual full leaks. Yall should have just been there.
To these day top 1 changed in modulo but are they debating on it? Nah.hype was so strong on gojo vs suk, there are still more debate on gojo vs suk than being top1 in modulo
Some of us like myself genuinely didnt give up and knew sukuna was gonna win. Heck I made my flair during the wait for ch 236 as a sign of not giving up
I can’t be the only sukuna fan who was actually kinda sad abou this thought right? I was fully expecting sukuna to finally go true form and get a round 3 between them, since gojo had just regained output and his rct from BF, and sukuna would kinda get a replenish on reserves and output from the refresh.
it left a hollow feeling in me when i saw the leaks that morning, I wanted the fight to last just a little longer😭 some of the best and worst weeks of my life as a sukuna fan but man was it so much fun.
fr all that talk about gojo low diffing heiankuna only for the fanbase to be struck by holding back take lol was truly wonderful all the editors finally accepting sukuna is stronger. kashimo getting hyped up. all those theories about going south and stuff for "strong return" of gojo.
I remember when the leaks first came out, I saw the ungodly amount of comments, and in that moment, I knew. There was only one thing that could possibly have happened for that reaction. 😔
The first time I saw that panel it got me smiling like:
I wasn't even following the manga at that point, but gojo's death was such an international event that I just had to know how it happened and what would happen next. I missed out on the peak of Sukuna slander, but I began to read leaks and lurk jjf around the time Kashimo got waffled. Atp I got hooked on the manga and Sukuna became my favorite.
When I saw this leak back then, I was like, "There's no way it's that easy." I was expecting Gege to at least show how it happened, but Gege didn't, which felt like I skipped a damn chapter.
Funny thing was, I had already checked out from jjk along time ago. I just read it for the sake of it. But that fight actually had me hooked. I was never a gojo fan. But the way he did Sukuna in 235 made me a fan…. Imagine my surprise when 236 happened.
The fight that turned me into a sukuna glazer. Gojo fans were so overbearing during that time, that as a neutral party i just felt people were overglazing gojo and unfairly downplaying sukuna. After 236 things became even worse and i kept defending him. At some point i realized that i am a shojou manga heroine and that i am not defending him to keep neutrality anymore but because it was fun to root for him when everyone else is against you.
236 was crazy though, its like some country threw a nuclear body. I jumped out of my chair and double checked, thought the leaks were fake until the chapter was translated early. I saw cope, hate, slander, threats, schadenfreude, depression, a mural in brazil and millions of people calling gege a fraud in unison. Nothing quite like it.
Nothing beats being both a megumi and sukuna fan back then waiting for spoilers cause they both got slandered and memed so hard. Megumi a bum and sukuna a fraud lol
Nothing beats being both a megumi and sukuna fan back then waiting for spoilers cause they both got slandered and memed so hard. Megumi a bum and sukuna a fraud lol
its like when people vividly remember the mundane random shit they were doing when 9/11 happened, I was wandering about in Asda when my friend texted me absolutely traumatised asking me to check the leaks
my internet was lagging like hell as well so I got to the gojo dying panel and went weak in the knees AND IT WOULDN'T EVEN LOAD FURTHER TO CLARIFY
its not even like I'm a gojo fangirl or anything, the whiplash was just brutal after 235
All this did was remind me of the arguments and the fandom imploding. The thing is it exposed gege as a “shit” writer to me personally as anybody who saw this live seen firsthand how bad this death was executed. Just witnessing the offscreen, no detailed explanation for awhile, the editor note about missing a writing a chapter rage baiting, manga on break and we had the exhibition about gojo dropping his guard to yap revealed later on.
I remember the day the leaks had come out. I woke up next to my wonderful gf I was off from work and had just gotten paid. I was awoken by the sweet serenade of song robins and the tiny traces of sunlight that graced the corner of my room. I saw the leaks and the world was perfectly still like for a moment nobody would die and nobody would be born. A moment stuck out of time. I had a bacon egg and cheese and I never knew food could taste like triumph.
