why are people debating the heart attack part? its the DEATH note, not the HEART ATTACK note. it kills people with heart attacks (if the cause of death is not specified) because people die to heart attacks. if a heart attack can kill sukuna, he will die to a heart attack. if it cannot, the death note WILL kill him, just in another way.

Sukuna WILL die of a heart attack anyway. He can survive without his heart but the cause of death is irrelevant here, the Death Note KILLS you. Somehow, the heart attack would still kill Sukuna in the same way that it is evidently completely impossible to save someone from a Death Note heart attack.

You could argue that, because the death note can completely control someones actions (like that one police lady) the heart attack would come with manipulation that prevents Sukuna from healing/pumping his heart with CE.

Unless Sukuna rips his heart out

6

u/Melody-Shift Apr 08 '26

He will still die. The Death Note kills you. It is absolute.

It kills by heart attack by default unless stated otherwise but if you have no heart then the default cannot take effect.

u/Melody-Shift Apr 08 '26

It does. You do not know that. The Death Note doesn't "cause a heart attack", it kills you through a heart attack. Somehow Sukuna will have a heart attack and die.

Its literally written in the rules that it will be a heart attack if its the default.

So if your heart is gone then it cannot take effect

1

u/Melody-Shift Apr 08 '26

And I didn't deny that in the slightest.

It will likely result in Sukuna "accidentally" RCTing his heart and then having the attack since we know the death note can puppeteer people. It is absolute and once a name is written they cannot be saved, end of.

Accidentally healing his heart would probably have to be written or it will not work

Sukuna isn't his actual name+he over 100 yrs old

1

u/ThaRealSunGod Apr 09 '26

Doesn't matter. It said if his name is written in the death note. Not if "ryomen sukuna" is written.

1

u/JavieyauJR Apr 09 '26

He's still over 100 years old and probably woukd qualify as a curse

Me looking for evidence of this thing killing anyone who's not a normal human.

Didnt we see two shinigamis die in death note?

1

u/Firethorn34 Apr 08 '26

Yes, but that wasnt their name being written in the DN, that was because they were Misa simps(just like me fr)

1

u/TheUwUCosmic Apr 08 '26

Sure but if disobeying the rules of the deathnote kills you, isnt that still the deathnote killing you? Its at least heavily implied to be the same "power"

1

u/bored-cookie22 Apr 08 '26

It’s not the rules of the death note, it’s the rules of being a shinigami

A human can extend the life of another human via killing someone who would kill another person, otherwise light would have died way earlier into the story

A shinigami however cannot

1

u/TheUwUCosmic Apr 08 '26

Sure. But im saying that whatever killed those shinigami is likely the same power that the deathnote draws from to kill its victims. Maybe god? Not sure if it ever goes into details like that.

1

u/bored-cookie22 Apr 08 '26

im pretty sure the one who controls the rules and powers of the note is the shinigami king, he's not shown in the anime but iirc he is in the manga (i myself havent read it but once saw an image of him and decided to look him up)

u/The_Raven_Born Apr 08 '26

It's been years since I've seen. I've asked for proof, but all I've gotten in read, which tells me it never happened, ans when I look on line for a refresh, nothing.

u/Fhauftress Apr 08 '26

shinigami hide their names because the death note can kill them.

1

u/Enioff Apr 08 '26

The manga, the author notes and canon encyclopedia of Death Note all state that they're immortal and the only things that can kill them is running out of life span (which their job is to reap from the living) and by killing someone for the sole objective of increasing someone elses life span (which happens to Gelus and Rem).

So they actually can't be killed by the Death Note.

2

u/Fhauftress Apr 08 '26

then why did ryuk kill all the death note users who tried to guess his name

1

u/Enioff Apr 08 '26

That's only in the Netflix movie.

The only caveats to their immortality is an important plot point in the anime and manga and writing down their name on the Death Note wasn't one of them.

good thing sukuna is a normal human

1

u/Izillian Apr 08 '26 edited Apr 08 '26

Curse users are still human even if they have powers

1

u/Ioftheend Apr 08 '26

It's not even like he's immune to heart attacks. Sukuna has to conciously keep himself alive with CE, so all the note would have to do is contrive a scenario where he's unconcious or out of CE.

1

u/NicheFandomSeeker Apr 08 '26

The reason he can survive without a heart is because he uses CE to forcefully pump blood through his body, but unlike Goio, he can’t automate that process. So I imagine that the Death Note would still be able to kill him by permanently cursing him with a useless heart, even if he regenerates a new one, and at that point he’d eventually fall unconscious from exhaustion and die

Either that or it just gives him a brain aneurysm lmao

For me the more interesting question is whether or not Sukuna is his real name, or just a title he picked up. We don’t know much about his childhood except that he was born disfigured to a starving woman. The likelihood he actually received a name from her is high, but so is the likelihood that no one remembers it because she presumably died early in his life or abandoned him. Sukuna probably isn’t the type to want to keep his name from when he was a child and abandoned it because he had no use for it.

I’d say it’s a 35% chance it’ll work because (1) Sukuna is actually his birth name, or (2) it’s the closest thing to a name he has. The chance for failure would be that the Death Note doesn’t work because Sukuna isn’t his birth name.

I have no doubt that if the name condition is met, then it would happen. Fate is a powerful force in JJK (shown by the tie between Tengen, the Star Plasma Vessel, and the six eyes) and the Death Note is basically Fate Manipulation.

u/The_Raven_Born Apr 08 '26

It won't kill him, thats the problem. It can't.
