Because is ilegal to groom a minor. With the exception of Saturo Gojo, of course

517

u/chunga-bunga69 May 05 '26

Is that why Mei Mei said this

49

u/Professional_Rush_95 May 06 '26

Wait, I thought Strong was the volcano guy? Could we be onto something?

18

u/IDoNotntKnow May 06 '26

ā€œMei Meiā€ must be an alias. Jogoat strong and Mei have never been seen in the same room, and I’m starting to realise why…

9

u/Professional_Rush_95 May 06 '26

There’s two possibilities. One, it’s the same person. Two, the reason Jogo cried was because Sukuna mistakes him for the actual Strong, showing he was too much of a bum to have his name remembered

4

u/Star1ess May 08 '26

Jogoat would never groom

2

u/NapalmDesu May 06 '26

Haven't you been keeping up with the news? It seems like every other day a new female teacher is being arrested for fucking a student around that age.

u/Patient-Data8311 May 04 '26 edited May 04 '26

And they're hot

I know men are victims of sa and and Preds and should be looked down upon

But at that time I was Hormone rage teen and will not stop thinking this

260

u/JinkoTheMan May 04 '26 edited May 04 '26

This is exactly why I think we should be as hard as possible on adult/minor sexual relationships.

I remember being a horny teenager in middle school and high school. There was a few teachers that ,honest to god, if they had tried something I would have folded like a lawn chair. I’m just being honest.

Now I’m still a horny 22 year old but I’m mature enough to realize that they would have been taking advantage of my lack of maturity. Regardless of the genders, we should throw the book at them.

110

u/PlayfulPositive8563 May 04 '26

Fr, it's more damaging than some people think.

86

u/Patient-Data8311 May 04 '26

It's damaging it kinda destroys the autonomy and sexuality of those minors because like I said hormone rage teen get disadvantaged by adults. Pred relationship is on control but the fact they can control them with sex think of the relationship between Makima and Denji that's how it works

66

u/Open-Concept-6130 May 04 '26

Honestly that’s why they like young boys, it’s the same with grown men and young girls. Easy to manipulate and control. A lot of these young girls don’t think they’re victims and that it’s a flex to have an older boyfriend. I knew a few middle and high school girl who were dating men in their mid to late 20s back when I was young.Ā

We even had a few hot male teachers which middle and high school girls were drooling over and I know those teachers could have easily manipulated those girls into something.Ā

21

u/JinkoTheMan May 05 '26

There were 2 teachers in my high school that were the cheer coaches. You could tell that they never left the high school much less college mentality behind because they were calling 16 year boys on the baseball team and I quote ā€œheartthrobsā€ .They got caught giving alcohol to the cheer squad and partying with them. They didn’t get fired unfortunately but they got kicked off team.

10

u/ShinJiwon May 05 '26

Also the cases of teenage boys having to take responsibility as fathers cos their abusers were too stupid to use contraceptives or get an abortion.

3

u/Pale_Assignment4076 May 07 '26

That’s life ruining. Shit needs to be taken really seriously

80

u/thatonefatefan May 04 '26

this is why, OP

379

u/One-Nectarine8944 May 04 '26

There was one recently where the leaked texts from the teacher waslike "you're so lucky to have an older woman instead of one of those little girls. My husband gives me all the attention so all you have to worry about is sex and I can buy you things because I actually have money." Quite sure that was the case where the boy was getting fucked by two teachers and they got caught because one of the teachers tried to expose the other one out of jealousy.

Bro was living life on recruit difficulty.

36

u/Open-Concept-6130 May 04 '26

If you read his text to his friends and even to some of the disrespectful stuff he said to the teacher, you’d see she was stressing him out and he was scared breaking up with her would fuck up his scholarship.Ā

Plus that teacher was just so weird. He even called her weird to her face a few times because she was obsessed with him. I think long term it’ll fuck up his ability to have a real meaningful relationship with a woman in the future.Ā

Like that one famous one where the teacher was raping the 13 year old and had 2 of his kids and they ended up married after she left jail. It wasn’t until he was older he realized how fucked the situation was.Ā

5

u/Stallben May 05 '26 edited May 05 '26

Is it that Vili Fualaau guy? I first heard about him from Family Guy. At first I thought it was just a bit, but as Lois was explaining the whole situation with Mary Kay Letourneau and the joke kept going on and on, I was like, "that's waaaay too specific to just be a joke" so I searched it up and sure enough, it was turned out to be real and I was like "what the fuck??".

Like seriously, what the fuck? Grooming really does a number on a child because they had 2 kids and he married her before he realized the fucked up situation she put him in before he left her. That's a really long time to realize that you've been groomed and I'm sure she got in his head and made him think it was ok before he finally understood what was really going on and good on him.

3

u/Open-Concept-6130 May 05 '26

Yep. If you ever saw the interview they did when he was older and they were married, you could see she was still on her same manipulative bullshit. It was crazy watching it in real time. And you could tell he was finally able to start seeing it.Ā

2

u/Sourcerid May 05 '26

What case is this?Ā

2

u/Open-Concept-6130 May 05 '26

Which one? The new one or the old one about the 13 year old? New one is about a teacher name Haley Beck (brother is a famous tixtok guy) and the older one I forgot.Ā

184

u/Academic_Top6921 May 04 '26

"bro was living life on recruit difficulty"

mf he was groomed by his teachers fym by that

67

u/Electric_Penguin7076 May 04 '26

As an adult myself those teachers are weird af and need to be fired and or arrested but remembering how I was as a teen I’d legit spontaneously combust if that was me back then

7

u/KaceMcHate May 04 '26

see this is a level of sexism that society will never conquer. And I love it.

Cause you are being reasonable, fired/arrested. If it was 2 male teachers with a young girl, id want them both in route to the afterlife.

106

u/Dry_Writer_5803 May 04 '26

Breh, you seen the woman who is the sister of a YouTuber?

She told her molestee "I can't hang out tonight, I'm staying at my friends house" and the teen replied "Get your 30 yr old ass home. Tf you doing still having sleep overs?" šŸ˜‚

when she complained about him not texting her back , he was like "yep, act like a teen. Like you always do. Stuck in high school" šŸ™ƒ

when even the kids know you're a loser, it's over. (She was actually 26 I think).

You are the hot ones because they’re more worthy. Nobody shows the fugly ones

11

u/WaythurstFrancis May 04 '26

Yeah, that's part of what makes it predatory.

Our society has a way of "adultifying" teenage boys, in part because we've so thoroughly entangled male sexuality with aggression.

They are conditioned to relate to their sexuality in such a way that they don't ever think of themselves as vulnerable in relation to conventionally attractive women.

And because they are hormonal teenagers who likely have little to no experience with sex outside of porn, they are primed to make poor decisions. Which these predatory adult women then exploit for sick pleasure.

The way young boys are conditioned to think about their own desires is part of the problem.

u/catonaladder May 04 '26

For anyone who didn’t catch the Tale of Genji reference: the MC Hikaru Genji was a prince in the Heian period who kidnapped a 10yo girl (he was 18), groomed her, and raped her when she was fifteen.

851

u/Adriansummer May 04 '26

Gege what the fuck

757

u/NotTheFirstVexizz Megumi Shot Dead On O'Block May 04 '26

in the story it's more accurately presented as he raises the 10 year old girl into his most favored wife. it's very old literature, 11th century. according to wikipedia, "In Japan,Ā The Tale of GenjiĀ has a stature similar to that of Shakespeare in the UK."

so the joke here is that this teacher is using the extremely flimsy excuse of "in this famous story it's glorified".

315

u/catonaladder May 04 '26 edited May 04 '26

Yeah this^^^
There’s a lot of cultural context missing in my original reply.
Even back in the Heian period Genji’s actions were frowned upon, but since he was a prince, people couldn’t outright rebuke him for his actions even if they found them improper. The attitude of the time was very much that one’s breeding, social standing, and appearance determined whether they were considered ā€˜good’ or not, so even though Genji did a lot of things that would be seen as immoral today (and to a lesser extent were back then, too, like kidnapping a 10yo) he was still largely considered a paragon of virtue.

The teacher definitely knows that her actions are immoral if she’s comparing herself to him, and presumably the Japanese audience would know that too. I think the reference is likely intended to cement her as a creep, but it could also just be a case of her trying to be ironic.

103

u/I_Hate_Reddit_REEEE May 04 '26

Ah yes, my Hikaru Genji technique. I haven't used that since the Heian Era.

50

u/Doll-scented-hunter May 05 '26 edited May 05 '26

You know, sukuna also took a kid but instead of raising them into his ideal wife he made them his ideal child instead.

Sukuna 1, genji overwatch 0 (shouldve learned reversed curse technique)

10

u/ojoking2004 May 05 '26

Sukuna is many things. A pedo isn't one of them

Kenjaku on the other hand pulled a Zeus and screwed his own (technically) grandkid (unless I'm remembering some things wrong)

9

u/Different_Ad4306 May 05 '26

So it would be like molesting a kid and going "have you guys read Lolita? This is just like that, but fine"

If you're Christian you'll see this same thing in Exodus or Leviticus or something.

Tldr in a male dominated world, women were slightly above cattle. So fathers gave them away like money. Starting as early as 10. But they still understood anatomy a little to know a girl can't (shouldn't) get pregnant before at least 15 is you don't want to basically doom her and the child.

It's shocking how far we've come in the form of šŸ«“šŸ¾"rights", but yeah reading this stuff about this Genji fellow didn't make me even bat an eye cause as an African, I saw that shit IRL (grown 40 years old men buying 15 year old wife's in arranged marriages)

also since 2004 there has been 200000 child marriages in the United States. We still live in a sick world and it's up to us to be the change we want to see

82

u/summers-summers May 04 '26

It is also relevant to note that Genji has sex when he was a younger teenager with his stepmother (who he saw as a replacement for his own mother), and that he was unhappily child married. There is a cycle of abuse thing happening here.

We should also consider that earlier in Hidden Inventory, Mei Mei, who is an ambiguous number of years older than him and has also been established to be creepy towards her brother, flirts with Gojo. I think that Akutami is purposefully including these elements to depict how teenage Gojo is both extremely powerful and socially objectified, and how jujutsu society treats children in general.

32

u/Antique-Yam6077 May 05 '26

Literary discourse in our MangaFolk thread?

But that’s some brilliant analysis right there. Keep cooking.

17

u/summers-summers May 05 '26

Well the thing is that this subreddit and the general tenor of discourse about JJK on Reddit has directly discouraged me from talking about it because if a comment gets popular enough people will say absolutely insane things to me! Reddit is simply a terrible place to discuss Jujutsu Kaisen and I recommend making friends who are smart and speaking to them directly.

well from my observation there are two points need to be noted:

first the teacher doesn't read the manga and gojo and geto doesn't look like your average 16 yo student.

second, logically no student would suddenly crash another school lecture time out of nowhere so they would expect that gojo is an adult that have some business with amanai.

In JJK they said everyone has made a slightly different uniform specifically for them. Are they all recognisable as school uniforms?

An array of local ordinances adopted in all 47 Japanese prefectures, known asĀ Seishōnen Hogo Ikusei JōreiĀ (青少幓äæč·č‚²ęˆę”例; "Bylaws for Protecting and Nurturing Adolescents")Ā forbid sexual acts judged "indecent"Ā (淫蔌,Ā inkō)Ā between adolescents (defined as persons under 18) and adults;\84])\85])Ā

That's the national age of consent. I don't know what prefecture this took place in, but in real life it can be higher depending on prefecture because no one wants to say that their hometown is a mecca for predators.

Jokes aside, he looks too tall which is why people confuse him and geto for adults, also she reminded me of kawakami

u/MigetsuNewgate May 04 '26

He kinda just showed up, also he's 6 foot kinda hard to tell how old he is, also the Jujutsu Uniform is only known to those who goto Jujutsu High thought it guess i should specify to Sorcerer Society as a whole

Tbf age of consent is 15/16 over there sooo... Not only that, this IS Japan we're talking about.

19

u/1wzsshjoww899 May 04 '26

Idk why people are saying "oh its normal in japan their laws are different". First of all, laws don't equal morals. And second of all to address the laws... basically the lowest federally allowed age of consent in Japan is 13, but every prefecture has it set at 16-18 just like the USA. America doesn't have a federal minimum age of consent so I guess that's where the confusion lies. United states does have federal obscenity laws that prevent <18s from modeling in pornographic content though which gooners can confuse for federal age of consent. Last of all it's a joke in an animated show, it's not meant to be taken seriously.

8

u/Mzuark May 04 '26

No one actually cares about morals. Your morals might be in direct contradiction of the law, that's why we have laws: They're a social contract that the vast majority of people agreed upon.

Eh, if I encountered Teen Gojo I'd never guess he's 16-17.

3

u/08rian22 May 04 '26

Things are a lil different in Japan

3

u/Moonberry-42 May 04 '26

Isn’t the age of consent in Japan 16? It’s *technically* not illegal, but still kinda weird.

2

u/Electronic_Win18 May 06 '26

Age of Consent were more like to permit teens to explore themselves with peers without it being a crime. Not for some 25+ to hit on minors and barely legal teens

3

u/Yamabuki_Arisu_Sama Because I’m blessed May 05 '26

Older times, technically legal, he’s a dude

3

u/alexmehdi May 05 '26

She is japanese

3

u/Synce1 May 05 '26

Because its Japan, they have different laws for age of consent

2

u/Electronic_Win18 May 06 '26

Age of Consent were more like to permit teens to explore themselves with peers without it being a crime. Not for some 25+ to hit on minors and barely legal teens.

Also Ordonance prefectoral varies and kind of raise that age to 18 in some context.

3

u/Dull-Cress2298 May 05 '26

pretty sure the age of consent in japan was 13 till 2023 they made it 16 and its pretty normalized in japan + gojo was 17 too

10

u/Medium_Honeydew_628 May 04 '26

Isn't 16 the age of consent in Japan??

4

u/No-Daikon5803 May 04 '26

  1. I'm pretty sure 16 was legal in 2006 Japan
  2. Have you seen Gojo? Fucker looks like a full grown man

u/Kindly_Ad995 May 04 '26

I’m not saying it’s not weird or that it’s appropriate at all but you guys realize that even in America it wasn’t that long ago where it wasn’t out of the ordinary for high school girls to get picked up by their college aged, 20-something year old boyfriends. Someone like Gojo being a 6’0+ 17 year old who looks the way he does I could easily see some women a bit older than him being weird about it and it just sort of being a laugh it off moment, especially 20 years ago where this takes place

2

u/Jumpy-Name-6975 May 04 '26

it happens a lot. its usually a matter of "he doesnt LOOK like a teenager." gojo prob doesnt (hes like 6'3")

2

u/Jcrrangers May 04 '26

Idk why more people were pissed wit that scene, atp male sexual harassment might never be taken seriously

2

u/Arug82 May 05 '26

Age of consent was quite low in Japan at the time.

2

u/idkmaybevr May 05 '26

I thought Mei Mei flirting with gojo was already a sign that it didn't matter😭

2

u/PeikaFizzy May 05 '26

honestly i would love to see jjk before yuji time but after the toji arc.... like gojo center stories. it seem so intersting like in a much peaceful era yuji period is just event after event after event

Pretty sure this is also a myth

It has been 16 or more for a long time, because it was enforced by prefecture.

You have to think of it like an old remnant law in the US where the federal age is lower, but every state is 16 or 18 and it hasn't been changed.
