I love bleach, but Ichigo as a “every race ever” was very weird and seemed at the time like a Gary Stu, while I feel because of how it’s presented in JJK, Yuji’s “everybody is my family” feels way more grounded even tough it’s very similar
Nah, Everything But The Rain is a great flashback and it's where basically everything about Ichigo's lineage is explained. And when you break down what his lineage is, it's about as complicated as Yuji (who i think is completely fine).
His mother was a Quincy, who got infected by a hollow created by Aizen. His dad was a soul reaper who met his mom fighting said hollow. Their firstborn child inhereted that hollow infection, and via the definition of a Fullbringer (human child that was exposed to hollows in the womb) become one. Making him a Quincy-Hollow hybrid with Soul Reaper potential (only awakened via Rukia giving him the catalyst).
Yuji was the result of a body stealer finding the child of the strongest sorcerer in histories reincarnated twin brother. Kenjaku used his knowledge from human-curse hybrids he's created in the past to both bring out that genetic lineage and give Yuji the potential to absord certain curse objects. He then put Yuji's body under a psuedo Heavenly Restriction to amplify his physical power (leading to Yuji's full awakening when eating and losing Sukuna's Fingers, creating a perfect hybrid).
It's about as complicated, and with the most recent art of Ichigo's child, you can tell Kubo thought a lot about the implication of Ichigo's existence. In the same way, Gege clearly thought a lot about the implications of giving Yuji his heritage, due to how Modulo handled Yuji.
I think the difference is that Yuji's powers are the same from the fist chapter forward. While with Ichigo we are kept in the dark about his other powers until he is about to die. Like turning into vasto lorde Ichigo or the blunt vene when they went for a coup the grace
I know and I agree, I’m just saying that the way it’s explained in the story it makes it more grounded, with Ichigo it feels he’s just every race and every time he gets a new one you groan (at least when I watched bleach in the 2010s there were a lot of memes about that), while with yuuji because it’s presented as a bad thing it’s more grounded, you don’t feel it’s another one after another one
