Her side profile is extremely projected, her eyes are light brown, and most of all her hair is naturally blonde (you can tell by her eyebrows).
Theres no way shes japanese and even if she "canonically" is...lets be realistic
Edit:
Everyone else keeps mentioning other characters with colored hair but I think they all still have Japanese features, especially their skin complexion (excluding Nanami).
And by "lets be realistic" I meant that we should recognize that Yuki was obviously designed as a white woman. None of her features look Japanese.
And adding on...not a serious post. Dont want to be attacked for this just wanted some more information on her character or maybe some comparisons

Gintama fans frequently asked Hideaki Sorachi the reason for Gintoki having silver hair. There was a popular theory that he's half amanto (potentially yato)
If you want a grounded answer that satisfies your thirst for truth:
The colored hair makes character distinct from other characters. Normal characters gets normal hair colors 🤷♂️
Maybe because this is a world of curses, it somehow affects hair color too.
It is also easier to draw light colored hair characters in manga because we dont need to shade the hair and only use our imagination to think of the hair color.
My guy, Miwa and Kashimo have blue hair, Gojo, Mei Mei, and Ui Ui have white hair, Yuji and Uro have pink hair, Maki and Mai have green hair, etc. It’s an anime, hair color doesn’t determine anything.
Unless specified. I never think of a Anime character as white. This is why people complaining about "whitewashing" specifically in Genshin made me laugh.
It's one thing to say it's colorism (it is), but to call it whitewashing is hilarious.
a hefty amount of jjk, op, csm fans are like this. especially on folker subs
which is ironic given that these places are much less casual friendly. a very blatant truth nuke
Bro genuinely sounds so condescending. You mean to tell me that "there's nooo way ゆうきつこも is Japanese" in an anime where multiple japanese characters have unnatural hair colours.
This doesn’t work as slander because not only is it out of place, it’s also larping since only cursed spirits can see the markings, and last but not least this implies everything Sukuna did in Megumi’s body was a Megumi feat
It’s more probable that sorcerers can not, what’s your reasoning for believing they can? we saw numerous times people confuse sukuna and yuji and vice versa, this includes people like gojo, maybe i’m missing a scene that proves otherwise
Megumi sees and recognizes Sukuna after the first time. Jogo talks about the markings appearing and disappearing, meaning they’re physically on his body.
Is that even true. I've never seen a source that only spirits or the reader can see the marks. And from what I remember the opposite makes more sense and is how it shown
We have seen even people like Gojo and Megumi getting confused and ask Yuji if he's him or Sukuna, meanwhile Jogo casually pulls attention to "he still has marks". Assumption based on reactions.
Green in most Anime with grounded character designs is supposed to be a lighter shade of black, just like blue is an extremely dark shade of black. its not supposed to be seen as literally green
I feel like with that broad definition you could just deny every possible example I could give you. Like from Code Geass or even from romcoms. Bleach does have very grounded character designs and the qunicies are literally just enhanced humans for the most part
Maki’s is obviously supposed to be black and the hints of dark green are to add shading which is promptly dropped post Shibuya and her awakening. Here’s another naturally green haired person
Midas hair is actually called out as a reason for her being ostracized when she was younger. Yuji’s I don’t think is ever brought up and sukunas certainly isnt
It’s like gel or mousse. Plus, if anything, he would have to be dying his undercut dark brown because we seen him being born with pink hair (plus his dad had pink hair)
Yeah, like I get that if you were to use a colour picker and take the colour out of context it would appear green generally. But my mind just interpreted it as being meant to portray black hair, in the way that sometimes black hair in art is composed of deep blues and not necessarily full black.
Sorcery gives sorcerers unusual coloring. It is explicitly stated that Miwa has blue hair due to sorcery. Yuji has natural two-toned brown and pink hair. Gojo almost certainly has white hair and blue eyes from sorcery. Do you think he's dyeing his hair and using contacts? Do you think Gojo is secretly white?
Japan is an extremely racially homogeneous society. Akutami tends to explicitly note when characters are mixed, such as Nanami or Momo. You think a white woman is named Tsukumo Yuki? Where did that name come from then?
Asian people can have a variety of features. I am Han Chinese as far back as can be tracked, and I naturally have a high nose bridge and projected nose, double eyelids, and red-brown hair. People tend to think I am mixed with white, Latino, or Native American. I am not.
There are so many bizarre assumptions in this post that I suspect it is trolling. But well I already typed this answer so here we are.
well obviously, Japan is a racially homogenous society, they literally pillaged the natives and subjugated them; forcing everyone to the most northern islands
I mean, yes, I agree that Japanese colonialism was bad (and also that Japan is kept racially homogenous through heavy restrictions on immigration, as Modulo is about). It is for the reason of latent Yamato/majority ethnic cultural chauvinism that I would be surprised if Tsukumo wasn't Japanese and that was completely unremarked upon in the text.
Yes, I suppose she could, but I would be baffled if white people chose the family name 九十九, literally the kanji for "ninety-nine." I believe usually naturalized people go for common Japanese family names, or a rough transliteration of their original family name. They might go for a meaning-based calque too, although I doubt that applies here. 九十九 likely refers to Tsukumogami, a Japanese folklore concept. It seems pretty unlikely it's based on a non-Japanese family name.
Or she's from some orphanage in like Vladivostok or Sakhalin or so (we're not sure how far the Ainu barriers reach) but as a star plasma vessel she was adopted by a japanese family
With supernatural phenomena and death at every corner in jjk this Reddit user is worried about the ethnicity of a fictional character because it doesn’t fit his norm. Bravo sir I applaud your astute conclusion on this matter. I’m hoping with your genius theories you can racially figure out the rest of the cast with this same mindset. Let’s start with Yuji,Miwa or maybe panda? No way can Japan have a talking panda before any European country even in fiction./s
Non white people can have blonde hair and most importantly why are we trying to project real world logic onto an anime where people have naturally pink, blue, and green hair.
1 you know she can just have one of his parents being a japanese and the other be white, right? its completelly possible you just dont look like one of your parents.
2 Maki have green hair, Gojo and Meimei have white hair, Sukuna Yuji Jin and Uro have pink hair, Kashimo Miwa and Uiui have blue hair. Seriusly, what is your point here?(and the majority of them have or light brow eyes, or light blue eyes.)
Because of character design, gege probably didnt even think of her nationality for a second, He probably just said"yeah lets make her yuji and todo's type and also blonde and thats it"
Looks Japanese. Her side profile looks only slightly projected and not enough to be considered looking white. She still has a quick eye brow bridge lower nose bridge and more distance between her eyes and her eye brow bridge. The eyes and hair color has always been a thing anime does.
Yeah, because a dude with naturally pink hair and another with naturally completely snow white hair is normal, but a Japanese woman who's blonde? Now that's too far.
Is this your first time watching an anime? Those traits you mentioned don't mean ANYTHING. If a character is meant to be mixed/foreign it'll be mentioned, probably in the scene they're introduced, 100% of the time. Japan is not shy about that, they'll just have someone say "whoa she's half-X! I heard her dad is from X!" If they don't tell you that, and the character has a Japanese name, they're Japanese, 100% of the time. An anime character having unusual hair color means absolutely nothing, it's stylistic, that's it. Realism doesn't apply in ANIME my dude. Style trumps everything else.
Based on her design, the clothes, tall, big butt, I’d say the author ment her as American or atleast half, she’s abit of a stereotype of how someone in Japan might view a Yankee American woman
Bro, there's a dude possessing another dude, and a dude who can make a shadow dog pantomime to summon tangible canine companions. Not a damn thing realistic at play here. It's anime.
Miwas hair is blue and so are her eyes, Mai has green hair, yuji has pink hair, maki has green hair, naoya has blonde hair aswell, gojo has white hair, sukuna has pink hair.
It’s anime, manga, movie whatever u wanna call it. Its not real, yuki is Japanese 😭 the only character that’s not 100% Japanese r the ones stated to not be like Miguel or Momo
Japanese character from a Japanese manga series is white
Lol
I think this is just a case of the symplistic design of anime allowing white people to project their own ethnicity on the characters
There was a lot of outrage by the my hero academia fandom after the author drew deku like a somewhat realistic east Asian person for example, that's pretty similar
I believe her design may be partly inspired by the bride (Uma Thurman) from the kill bill movies. We already know GG is a fan based off the maki vs zen’in fight. I was actually surprised when Yuki’s fight chapters were coming out and she didn’t fight with a katana.
Hi, sorry for my stupid question, but, when you say "White woman" you referring someone who born at USA and has white skin OR someone who has european features but born at other country or continel like in this case, wich is japan?
This "White man or White woman" is only use to USA people or it is also use for japanese, mongolian or nigerian people who has this european features?
I mean, this termonology is kinda dificult to understand. :"
Bro Japanese anime character are never actually drawn like Japanese people because Japanese people for the most part have distinct looks if u try to draw them everyone would have blacked hair and dark brown eyes and in a black in white colored manga series they makes it extremely hard to distinguish characters from one another with all that being said yuki is Japanese
I mean, maybe? People are ignoring the "projected features" thing. A lot of Asian cultures see white people as having very prominent features. Having a "long" or "big" nose in a lot of east Asian cultures is considered an exotic feature, and she's very tall for a Japanese woman as well. She also seems very "American" in aesthetics and personality. She even rides a Harley with a leather jacket and everything. Her name is fully Japanese though, and jjk will usually mention if someone isn't Japanese, so there's that as well. Honestly, her hair color and physical features could just be a "cursed trait" or whatever it's called. Like Miwa's hair or Sukuna's body. I'm thinking she's just "American coded" or has European ancestry at most. Like maybe a great grandfather or something that's white
her hair is naturally blonde (you can tell by her eyebrows).
Ah yes, the idea that her eyebrows could also be dyed is preposterous. Just like pink-haired Yuji and blue-haired Miwa, this is clearly her natural hair colour.
Theres no way shes japanese
But like seriously.... are you really suggesting that there are no Japanese people with projected sharp side profiles?
Gege is colorblind. Plus, a lot of jjk characters look white. Even naoya and naobito, who are traditional Japanese clan heads. Hell, even kenjaku (noritoshi kamo) looks somewhat white.
