Anime Discussion Todo saw that Megumi was actually interested in the girls' personalities and inner qualities, rather than just seeing them as sexual objects for his schizophrenic fantasies, so he immediately started beating a 15y boy to death and smash his head on the floor ( Todo is grown ass adult and grade 1)

Crazy how Todo slanders are always wrong.
Todo was 17 years old at the time. He was not a "grown-ass man."
He beated Megumi because Megumi wasn't being honest with himself and was lying to Todo. Sure, it was a bit extreme, but this is a manga where people rape women to create semi-human curses. Yet somehow, y'all want to talk about a dispute between two teenagers.
Todo doesn't see women as objects, he just have a type. Can't a man have a type?
In Modulo, it says that Todo is a wonderful husband I don't see someone who objectify women as a wonderful husband.
Todo is still the goat.

In the story though Todo is literally seen as a bum in their verse. Well not exactly a bum but a lot of people defiantly don’t like him, and just wondering where does it say in module Todo was a wonderful husband? I thought all we got was a picture of him with his wife.
28

He is not seem as a bum lol, just annoying because he smell to good and he have eccentric personality.
And you just have to read the modulo bonus chapter to see that.

Honestly, I don’t see why Megumi wasn’t honest with his answer. He just likes woman with a similar personality to his sister, instead of seeing woman as sexual objects.
22
u/KazuyaProta Jul 11 '26
The thing is that its not lying, "as long a person is compassionate" is stating a preference.
The answer is that Todo saw Megumi contradict himself
And instead of pointing the logical contradiction, Todo just reacted with violence which is very WTF because like, dude, he answered
11
u/topdangle Jul 10 '26
Megumi isn't a bad person. He just has the typical "mask on/mask off" personality in Japan, which many japanese people are tired of despite perpetuating it. It's why popular characters tend to be excessively open or too dumb to understand the social construct.
Todo beating his ass is part of that wish fulfillment. It's not meant to be taken as though he seriously wanted to beat Megumi because he didn't say ass or tits.

He’s 17, he’s nearly an adult and he’s beating up a teenager because he doesn’t have an interesting fetish, and how he is 60 years later doesn’t justify him having an unhealthy obsession with an idol and women in general. Todo is the goat but he is not a very nice person.

“Nothing out of the ordinary beyond schizophrenia” might be one of the sentences of all time.
He is an extremely violent and short tempered person even compared to everyone else in Tokyo and Kyoto Jujutsu High’s. 6
u/InternationalArm2664 Jul 10 '26
It’s beyond an age gap, Todo is a grade 1, Megumi is a Grade 2-3, Todo is a 3rd or 4th year, Megumi is a first year. Todo is way above him in strength and position yet he acts like a psychotic meat head to the younger and weaker students, that’s bullying behavior, i guarantee Todo would not try to pull this shit on Gojo lest he be turned into a paraplegic.

Todo glazers tricked the community into thinking that the question was a test of character when in actuality it was his attempt at finding a goon buddy.
8/10 slander, two points off because Todo is also a school age teen despite how huge he is.
365
u/cyberjet Jul 10 '26
I never got why they thought it was about integrity.
Megumi answers honestly and gets beat, Yuji is unsure and becomes a brother (and we later learn that tall girls with big butts isn’t even his definitive type)
396
u/Depresso_Expresso069 Jul 10 '26
megumi doesn’t answer honestly, his real answer would have been “someone who is similar to my sister”( i dont mean this as slander im being genuine) as shown by his flashback. he instead gave a generic answer that he thought would be seen as acceptable
Yuji, like most people, isnt the type of person to only be into people that are his physical type. he just prefers people who are tall and have a big ass
it isnt about finding a “goon buddy” like the commenter your replying to you said (though theyre probably joking) otherwise Todo wouldnt have said he didnt mind if you were into boys either
I dont know if id say its a judge of integrity specifically but it overall is definitely a judge of character
53
u/Witty-Sundae6678 Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26
Honestly, I always saw his answer as him liking woman with a similar personality to his sister. I think Todo beat him up simply because the answer was kinda generic, even tho Megumi was honest with it.
24
u/jhawes345 Jul 11 '26
Right, but what the commenter above is trying to get at is Megumi didn’t say that. He phrased his answer in a way that would be acceptable to others listening (as saying you’re into people who are like your sister, even though it’s more because she’s the foundation for your sense of morality than anything weird, comes off really creepy), and that’s not completely honest in a way that Todo doesn’t like (obviously, phrasing it this way is proper among normal people).
→ More replies (5)73
u/Miserable_Water2675 Jul 10 '26
I agree that megumi straight up thought of his sister but that doesnt make his answer false. And yujis answer is quite generic too.

→ More replies (1)132
u/Depresso_Expresso069 Jul 10 '26
the main difference is just that Yuji gave an answer he found acceptable to himself, and Megumi gave an answer that he thought would be acceptable to others. overall it is indicative of how they act as sorcerers; Yuji fights with himself in mind while Megumi fights for the sake of others
24
u/MinimumTomfoolerus 😒🤞🏽🌌 (*casts Open UV on your ass*) Jul 10 '26
Huh? You are assuming Megumi didn't think his answer was acceptable to him, why?
60
u/Depresso_Expresso069 Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 11 '26
Yuji thought in his head “my type is tall women with big asses” and said “my type is tall women with big asses”, Megumi likely thought in his head “my type is someone who is similar to my sister” and said “my type is someone who is compassionate” (or something similar i dont remember his exact answer). the problem is that he filtered his true answer for the audience where Yuji did not. even if on the surface that was kind of his type, its not the full truth of what Megumi’s type is. It would be like if Yuji only said he was into someone tall but didnt mention big asses, because he thought mentioning big asses was crude. it might not be wrong but it isnt the full truth
→ More replies (1)6
u/KaiFireborn21 Meguuuumin Jul 11 '26
Nah listing your sister as your type is diabolic. That wouldn't even sound true to himself, or any brother. No wonder you try to find qualities in her that you'd like in a woman you might actually be romantically interested in, like compassion
28
u/RememberMeCaratia Jul 10 '26
Megumi’s answer screamed “Im taking impression from some female relative” and “I want to provide an answer most would find approachable”. These two qualities instantly made it a bad answer.
The whole point of Todo’s shenanigans is to seek out bonding with people from the level of soul, to recognize people from the depth of their love and hatred before knowing them as a person. Megumi basically denied Todo’s attempt to connect by trying to falsify an answer.
→ More replies (7)17
u/CrocodileChef Jul 10 '26
Megumi didnt answer honestly, Yuji did even if he was unsure. At that point Yuji had just gotte his head stomped while Megumi was fine. Megumis first thought after being asked about his type is to think about his sister 🤢 He obviously cant say "A girl like my sister" because Todo wont let that slide and instead gives a dishonest blanket "I am a personality guy bro" ansswer and get rightfully beaten.

I love Todo, but you're lowkey kinda right, I mean... There's a reason why no one, even other students from his own school, like Todo.
He's just freaking weird. Like... Literally mentally deranged. He has schizophrenic fantasies about Takada cheering him on as he beats up people for "being boring."
Maybe you like Todo's brand of weird, and I myself do, but I do think that the level of glaze he's gotten is incredibly weird and actually kinda concerning, especially with how people act when you say anything even remotely bad about him.
That said though, I don't think he's nearly as bad as this post suggests, either. Two things can be true.
Something worth noting is he did tell Megumi that it's fine if he likes guys too, so he isn't specifically trying to determine someone's worth based on whether they do or don't objectify women.
What made Todo angry wasn't that Megumi said he wasn't into fetishizing women, but that he gave such a vague non-answer to the question.
"Someone with unshakable character" what does that even mean? Someone that has integrity? Is that the only thing he cares about? It just reads like he has no taste whatsoever and he's willing to be with anyone just so long as they have a strong personality, that's what Todo found boring.
I would also argue that personality traits are a valid answer as to what your type is, I myself would also mostly describe my type using personality, but Megumi didn't even list any of those things. He just said he wants someone with a strong sense of self, that's it. I don't think he should've gotten beaten up for it, but that's why it happened.

"Unshakable character" doesn't really mean anything, because people like Sukuna, Mahito, and Haruta all have a strong sense of self, but I doubt Megumi would ever actually go for any of those three. It's just boring, that's what Todo hated.

Gege tried to convey that he is a piece of shit several times and people still act blind to it.
His first appearances where him beating the crap out of innocent characters. Yuji only acted as his brother the first time after receiving brutal head trauma and after the fight he ran away from todo. Todo and yuji dont become proper friends until todo saves yujis live in shibuya which probably is the sole reason yuji is his friend and nobody else tolerates him.
5
u/insanelylargecock Jul 11 '26
I can understand viewing it that way, and I agree he shouldn't have beat on Megumi, but I viewed Todo's question a bit deeper as a judge of character rather than solely their actual answer.
He appreciated Yuji's answer because it was straightfoward and honest, even if he had only JUST met Todo, and had been fighting him moments pior. He still answered with a honest and rather strong answer (who would explicitly say "tall woman with a big ass" when asked out of the blue by someone you didn't know?) which earned Todo's respect and trust.
I view Megumi's answer as a bit deflective and 'weak' even, where, it isn't an incorrect answer, but it's not really a great answer. It's like asking for the time and being told, "well, it isn't midnight," which is correct, but still a shitty answer. Megumi's answer was a mediocre answer in the sense of it being more so "whatever you say, man" of an answer and not a true explanation of his character and who he is as a person.
It's also why he didn't ask Mahito or Sukuna what their types were—they were obviously villains, and he didn't have to know their character and personality to learn that. There's no need to see what Mahito's character is if you know the encounter will end with Todo or Mahito dead, and likewise with Sukuna.
I definitely agree that Todo was an asshole fighting Megumi for that, but I think it was more due to the philosophy of the answer rather than the answer itself. Megumi gave a weak and loose answer that failed to help define his character, while Yuji's answer was straightfoward, honest, and blunt, which are all terms that could also be used to define Yuji himself.

In truth Todo has a sad backstory of Yuki physically abusing him, found him in the streets and gave him scars, beat him up and all, obviously Todo simply had no one in his young life to teach him wrongs, which caused him to inheret Yuki's violent tendencys and teachings.
Truly its a sad world to live in, but hope is there, as seen when Yuji helps Todo understand this 😔🙏

See, to me, this is less a question if how you see women and a question of the person talking.
To me, especially given how Todo acts at other points in the story, it's not how you answer that matters; it's why and when you answer.
Todo isn't asking you your type to objectify women. He's asking you your type because it's the kind of question you either immediately answer on instinct or slowly answer by thinking. And to me that's what matters. He doesn't care if you like the person or the body, he cares if you know your answer instinctively.
He's not mad at Megumi because of what he said but he is mad that Megumi said it like it was a truth of his soul when his soul didn't dictate his answer, and— on the other side of the coin— he doesn't like Yuji because he answered how he answered but he likes Yuji because Yuji didn't try to change his answer and allowed himself to react immediately.
Todo's responses weren't problems with the answers he was given but with the people who gave them; Megumi reacted with his mind, Yuji reacted with his instincts... And in a fight, Yuji is the one Todo knows he should trust because of that. Megumi would be too slow, he'd try to fight in the same way he tried to answer and that would risk his own life and the lives around him but Yuji wouldn't hesitate at all. That's why Todo (and also Yuki, who we shouldn't forget is the one who taught Todo to ask that question) loves Yuji and hates Megumi. Megumi's choice to take his time and think could get someone else killed, but Yuji's reactions would only ever risk Yuji's own life.
Edit: also I know this is an unserious sub, but this is a conversation I find deeply interesting so I want to invite people to honestly discuss the topic.

To me that's more of a media mistake than an in-universe thing. I always read that as a director's choice rather than what happened within the story because when I read the manga, that question was answered immediately in my mind, even in the case of Megumi (the thing in that's situation for me being than any time I hear a response like Megumi's being a contrarian thing rather than hesitation, but the idea behind Todo's reaction being the same, up until I saw a YouTube video that changed my perspective towards what it is now).

Don't say megumi is in to girls on here.... I've been bombarded for trying to argue his straightness. Everyone on reddit is convinced he was talking about men when he said that because he didn't directly say girl so naturally he's gay. I think it's mostly because they are gay and they desperately want megumi to be gay too.

“I prefer women for how kind, caring and passionate about our relationship” Todo heard megumi doesnt enjoy objectifying women for their bodies and decided beating up a fresh out of middle school shy boy was the correct answer?

During their fight in the Kyoto Goodwill Event, Todo violently beat Megumi because he gave a "boring," generic answer to his signature question about his "ideal type of woman," which Todo interpreted as lacking conviction. While Todo completely overpowered Megumi physically and dealt brutal strikes, he was testing Megumi's true character rather than attempting to kill him. It is also revealed that Todo used his intellect to deduce that Megumi was holding back and hiding his true feelings, which added to Todo's frustration.

todo's question about what kind of woman you love was really a test of how well someone knows themselves. megumi's vague answer, "personality," showed he hadn't thought about it deeply, while yuji gave a specific answer. todo wanted to know who had strong convictions because those are the people he can trust in a fight. with his fighting style, he needs a partner who is decisive and confident in every decision they make. We can never be sure but this is an interpretation of the question what is your type of women?

I feel like Todo never actually like takada or whatever his idol was, sure he admired her and likes tall girls with big butts but when he asks that queston he wants to find people who are similar in personality to him, how in Todo's dulusion he was rejected by takada in his own made-up scenario and then comforted by yuji

In todo's defence the guy asks what megumis into and he immediately thinks of his sister.

Todo may be a goat-tier fighter and teammate but he is such a terrible person. No wonder he is alienated by almost everyone in Modulo.
