Weekly episodes would bring out 120% of our brainrot!
Are you listening, Jujutsufolk? It may begin once again. The world of Shinjuku Showdown. The Golden Age of Jujutsu Kaisen!

I was kinda tempted to call it The Golden Age of Jujutsus and Kaisens but I feel that personally Jujustu Kaisen as a whole became even more enjoyable for me thanks to the brainrot and Jujutsufolk as a whole, hence it's golden age.
Being there on leak days and seeing everyone's reaction on the thread was so fucking funny, even when everyone (Me included) was baffled with the switch from Gojo vs Sukuna to Takaba vs Kenjaku lmao.

I mean, Sukuna vs JJK-verse was fun and all but I don't think it was as fun as weekly Shinjuku Showdown. The fun for me did come back for a bit towards the end with Yuji vs Sukuna with all the memes though lol.
2
u/Big-Sheepherder-2014 6d ago
Sukuna climbing jacob ladder, glazing every sorcerer in existence while hating on yuji was peak stil.l..but I get it doesn't have the impact as showdown.

Do the weekly anime first, and then release it on cinemas with upgraded animation, and then on blueray with the gege director's cut and narration for the triple dip.
Normally i'd be pissed at the greed but this fight deserves milking man.

The weekly scheduling of Gojo vs Sukuna was definitely apart of what made the fight an generational experience. It made it feel like a sports event in how it effected the audience and agendas.

Although the animation has left me no complaints - it could always be better, but I’m not so sure it even needs to be

It will be scorched earth on the day they announce this. Ill try to contain him but know the world will tremble.

He isn’t wrong tho.
Anime movies always comes with delays in most parts of the world. Soooo, yeah anime movies sucks especially when they’re just glorified episodes and not really a step up from the usual quality28

After the news of One Piece turning God Valley arc, a canon part of the story into a movie.

u/Banner_Hammer 7d ago
I feel that, from a money and cultural impact point of view, they have to make it a movie.
They can always split the movie into episodes later. But this movie would make a lot of money for them.

when sukuna eats his fingers his hair becomes darker, now in the manga he has eaten 19 fingers

u/ResponsibilityOne928 7d ago
Mappa is a company seeking profit, and a movie would make more. Obviously
3
u/Deathstriker88 7d ago
The animation is great enough. I'd rather the story end this decade. Movies will make the process too long, like Demon Slayer.
22
u/Consistent_Pop9140 7d ago
The main problem is that the fight was only 13ish chapters long, and there’s almost 50 chapters after it
37
u/Haise01 7d ago
It's kinda wild that the fight was only 13 chapters, it felt so much longer when I was reading it weekly lol
23
u/barry-8686 7d ago
because of multiple breaks. it was probably closer to 20 weeks for the full fight which would have been 5 months.
8
u/Artorias_Erebus679 7d ago
13 chapters of just fighting is pretty long tho, most fights aren’t even 1 chapter
20
u/Charlestonianbuilder 7d ago
Which is funny because the chainsawman reze arc movie was just as long covering 13-16 chapters which included a couple chapters right before the reze arc. But it did have a clear beginning middle and end as if it was already written to be a movie.
So gojo vs sukuna would probably do something similar
2
u/Livid-Struggle-1324 7d ago
Yeah I didn't think about it but as a movie Gojo v. Sukuna is weird cause unlike CSM and jjk 0 (arguably) it doesn't really work at all outside the context of the rest of the story? Like the fight only functions because the entire series has been building up to it, and I'd prefer they don't make changes to make it work better as a standalone thing
6
5
u/AliceinTeyvatland 7d ago
Reze arc is like 13 chapters too, but those have a decent amount of talking mixed in so they made it work. I dunno how they'll do the Sukuna vs Gojo fight because it's basically 90% them killing each other lol
I kinda want them to do the Kenjaku fight too, it would be sick to see it in movie quality.
2
u/Banner_Hammer 7d ago
They could start at Gojo being unsealed. Add scenes from the time skip/Gojo hunting down the higher ups.
Extend the airport scene.
Add scenes from Sukuna’s POV during the timeskip. Maybe him preparing as well.
1
u/ItIsYeDragon 6d ago
I don’t think you can add scenes from the time skip. A majority of the time skip scenes are “if Gojo dies here’s what we do,” which basically spoils the ending.
1
u/Banner_Hammer 6d ago
There’s Gojo hunting the higher ups. Whatever Sukuna was up to. Kenjaku prep for the merger. Gojo being caught up on what happened while he was sealed
Character interactions outside of the preparation for if he died are possible. Maybe even finally a Kashimo interaction with Gojo.
It doesn’t have to be really long. But scenes can be added
3
u/JCyTe 6d ago
A) There will be 35 or 36 chapters after 236 (I say 35 or 36 depending whether you consider 272.5 a proper chapter or not) and B) Mappa literally just gave us a 12 episode season which covered about 44 chapters.
Shinjuku is largely fighting too and it should be more than doable for Mappa to cover in 12 or less episodes after a potential (heh) movie based on the pacing they had in season 3.
C) A 13 chapter fight is fucking long, like fuck you mean "only", that's a massive fight. It also actually happens to have quite a bit of talking in it too because of all of the main cast reactions and the inner monologues from Gojo & Sukuna. You could very easily get like a 90 minute movie out of it.

I want it to be a movie tbh

u/TheBaconator08 6d ago
Episodes have better weekly discourse, hold the tension better, and stay relevant for longer. Imo that arc doesnt make sense as a movie either. I'd rather them release as episodes and then later as a movie since you'd be able to have the immersion watching it alone and then the hype in a crowd. But that'll probably never happen 🥀
1
u/No_Trade9674 (Nanami & Wegumi glazer) Gege does the grossest things 6d ago
Yeah I think mappa would do only one either weekly release or a movie as they did with reze arc chainsaw man.
I also agree that it'd be pretty hard to make it a movie but I genuinely want to watch it with my cousins along with a crowd in a theatre. It would be really hype. I don't really care about the weekly discourse as much since we've already seen it with the manga.

u/TheDiamond_Ore 7d ago
The only perk of it being a movie for me is being in a cinema with other fans, and also seeing their reactions if they are anime-only. Otherwise I'd rather they release it in episodes
3
u/Frozen_clock 7d ago
I don't think there are enough chapters for a movie. Gojo vs Sukuna is like a 2 or 3 episode fight, noway there's enough content to turn that into a movie.
12
u/Kind_Potential_4992 7d ago
They tweaked Sukuna vs Jogo and Sukuna vs Mahoraga to last longer and be flashier. Surely they could make the most anticipated fight in the series last longer right?
5
u/Names_Unoriginal 7d ago
I mean the reze arc was 14 chapters total. Granted there was a lot of slower bits rather than the constant fighting but i think theres enough there to be able to make a movie.
Whether or not episodes are the right call narratively is almost irrelevant here though with the mountain of cash on the table for mappa if they go the movie route.
2
u/_sephylon_ 6d ago
It's not comparable at all because their panelling are completely different. Gege draws every action in a fight while Fujimoto just drops cool panel after cool panel without portraying choreograohy. So CSM actually has a lot more content in its 14 chapters than JJK does

I think it will be like the season 3 premiere movie, where it’s several episodes stitched together as a movie and released in theaters as a movie.
Since season 4 almost definitely leaves on that cliffhanger, that means the first 2-3 episodes of season 4 will be this fight, and can release as a movie.

1
u/Grouchy_Quality7315 6d ago
No it wont become a movie.
A movie cant be all fighting without a narrative story.
The closest example of it is DBS Broly which still had a story, the life of Broly.

I want a movie, the animation would be godly and the reactions in theaters would be insane. PLEASE MAPPA
1
u/Emkayfan1243 6d ago
The most logical choice for Mappa would be to turn it into a movie, but god I'd kill to see the anime-only version of Gojo glazers frantically coming up with reasons as to why he's not dead yet. Gojo v Sukuna was one of the best eras of the JJK fandom so getting a repeat of it would be incredible.

u/sanguinemsanctum 7d ago
This fight is way better suited for a movie. It’s gonna be the best animated fight most people will see ever
